That’s because the player is usually playing for their next contract, and it’s often a big one. There is motivation. In BBrown and TMacs case, neither will be getting another contract at their age with their injury history. Browns knee is stuffed. He’s been managing it for years, but it’s at the point where it doesn’t seem it can be managed effectively anymore. TMac has played 1 full season in the last 6 years, and even that was off limited preseason due to injury. His foot’s stuffed. We’d be negligent to offer either a new contract. We need to find other tall forward options in a hurry.

Probably the least excited I’ve been for a grand final. Very weak season and whoever is the eventual premier will be remembered as a weak premier alongside the Bulldogs 2016.
-
LDU is already close to brownlow material if he can stay on the park. Simpkin is very good. Taryn Thomas is a hell of a talent and impacts games. Sheezel just won the rising star and is already at the point of being tagged some weeks. Wardlaws already shown he’s capable at worst, and future AA if he continues rapidly building his body up. That’s 5 potential AA level mids under the age of 25, with three of them already impacting games at a high level. Adding Reid or Curtin and Duursma to that is madness. They’d have more top 10 mids on their list that we have mids full stop. They need time and mature players around them. More star youth won’t change anything in the short term.

No worries. Why don’t they just let North pick whoever they want and then the other clubs can fight over the leftovers. North’s young midfield stock is probably the best this century behind GWS a few years back. They need no further assistance, just time for their kids to develop.
-
They also interviewed that sex pest DeGoey, who for some reason decided to awkwardly hug her and invade her space. Others lose their jobs for similar behavior. Was bizarre and no one bats an eyelid because it’s Collingwood. I hate what this country is becoming.
-
AFL approved victory there with the umpires getting them over the line. Repeat head high tackles ignored. Repeated holding the balls ignored. Watch Carlton get the umpire ride into the grand final now. The afl would be frothing at the thought of the $$$ of Pies vs Blues.

We now have proof there is no god.

Yes Jesse!

Shut up about the noise JB

Apparently holding the man doesn’t apply to collingwood

Cmon Giants fire up. Need to shut this filth up. I don’t want the city overrun by wailing toothless racist zombies.

Because he’s a [censored]

It was blatant draft tampering that he somehow lasted until pick 10 before a bid. He’s not underrated, was All Australian squad this year and generally regarded as one of the best inside mids in the league already at his young age. GWS weather the storm early and now getting the game on their terms. Hopefully they tear the Pies supporters hearts out and we see their players cry like it’s 2003 😉
-
I saw that today. Pathetic dribble. The media hype for Daicos and the Pies is sickening. The kids a second year AFL player. Comparing him to a global sporting legend is ridiculous and unwarranted. Hoping the orange team absolutely murders Collingwood tonight. I’m talking soul destroying stuff that sends them to the bottom of the ladder for a decade and causes their supporters to [censored] off and stop attending and ruining football matches. I want to see them cry. Who’s a sook? A plague upon them!

Both are elite decision makers and both are good kicks. Mckercher has more pace and a more penetrating kick. Sanders has more variety in his kicking and hits the scoreboard ever so slightly more as he’s also a marking target inside 50 so generates set shots. Sanders is more rounded and cleaner. Mckercher provides more pace and line breaking run, is a more offensive player. Due to the line breaking run, Mckercher is seen as more damaging potential and will likely go higher and before our pick. Sanders more rounded, has leadership potential and likely to have a better career IMO. It just depends on midfield balance and who’s available.
-
Both are contracted for next year. Brown will likely retire early as his knee is stuffed. He’s already involved with coaching our women’s team and other off field initiatives, so he’s prepared for his next stage of life and would move on happily. TMac will stick around next year. Doubt he’ll have any meaningful impact, but we lack tall forward depth and don’t want to blow cash paying out multiple contracted players when our depth is already taking a hit this off season. We need to chase another key forward for sure. Petty looked decent later in the year before injury, but isn’t exactly durable either. We need more options.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Lord Travis replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
He’s definitely what we need as a quick skilled midfielder, but will be gone before our picks it seems. -
Sanders is probably the most rounded midfielder in this crop. Finds ball inside, applies pressure, good burst of pace, great decision maker, clean disposal, always looks to his teammates advantage, good size. Would be happy with him with our first pick if he’s available. Ideal outcome IMO is trading up so we have two top ten picks and landing Sanders and O’Sullivan.

Anyone but Collingwood.

Official. Posted on MFC socials. Best of luck to Yze! He’ll always be a demon. Been trying for years to take the next step and now he’s senior coach of one of the biggest clubs in the land. Now we’ll need a new midfield coach. Timing is right for both him and us.

Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.
Lord Travis replied to Gorgoroth's topic in Melbourne Demons
That’s a shame. He was basically the perfect low cost option for us. Tall forward who can clunk a mark, only 23 years old and has potential to be a solid player, even if only as a stop gap for a few years while others develop. Who else is on the market? Chol is the only other tall forward who’s actually being shopped around. -
8 seasons. Drafted end of 2015. Makes it even more damning that a player has only just made it to 70 games after 8 seasons on a list as he’s constantly injured. He’s also below average when he does get on the park, and at one stage mid year had lost more one on one contests than any other defender in the league. He’s not athletically gifted either. He’s worth a third rounder. He’s basically a less durable and worse version of Tomlinson. It’s mind blowing he could get them first round compo or that any team is willing to pay him more than 200-300k.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Lord Travis replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
That is massive over compensation for a team with possibly the best young midfield in the league already. They just need time for their kids to come on. If that compo is accurate, it basically ruins the first round of this this years draft and I'd be hoping we trade out into future if possible, as our picks after 5 (which becomes 7) become weak. -
Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.
Lord Travis replied to Gorgoroth's topic in Melbourne Demons
We enquired about Jacob Koschitze in the past. Showed a lot of potential in 2021 and 2022 before having an interrupted and disappointing 2023. He might be gettable very cheap. Only 23 years old and perfect size at 198cm and 96kgs. Can clunk and a mark. We should enquire again… -
Campbell Brown calls the Melbourne Football Club "fragile"
Lord Travis replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Article title says “ex afl gun unloads…”. Who was it? Campbell Brown was as far from a gun as possible. He’s a pathetic drunken battler, and the fact he has a media job sums up the state of Australian media and journalism. Ignore him and move on. We’ll reload next year and be in contention again. The only thing he’ll reload is a slab of beer and a criminal record for his poor behavior.- 83 replies
