  1. This. We’ll give him a longer contract on slightly less money pa than he’d get elsewhere. 4.5 mil over 5 years would be ideal for both parties. Close to a mil a year, which will take up less salary cap for us in a few years time. 5 years for a surpreme endurance athlete who can be a rock up forward for that period.

Pick 5 behind Petracca and Brayshaw in 2014, has just hit 50 games. We have no first round pick this year and cannot trade next years, so unless we're wiling to trade one of our own young guns (Trac, Oliver, Hogan, Brayshaw) then we cannot get him or Wines or anyone. On the basis, can't see it happening and prefer our youngsters to him.

That was actually Hannan. The commentators incorrectly called him as Spargo. I don't think Spargo needs a rest yet, but his impact is definitely down the past two games compared to his first two. He'll probably be first to make way once Jeffy or someone else more proven finds form. That's nothing against Spargo, he's a first year player and has a long career in red and blue ahead of him!
  4. It took him 3 weeks or so to find form and gel with our backline, but he's been great the past few matches. I actually think that it was both Hibberd and Lever that weren't gelling early on, but since they've started learn each others game they've both rocketed into form. Apart from the odd missed spoil, Lever's just so good in the air and offers good leadership and drive down there. Alongside Lewis at times, he's clearly the general of the backline and likely will be for the next 10 years. We paid a high price for him, but he'll prove to be worth it. Gun.

I was one of his biggest supporters on here when others were laying the boots in. His best football at Essendon always came on HFF and wing, decent enough to finish 2nd in their BnF in a finals year. He was started by Goodwin down back, which he doesn't suit. As soon as he was shifted forward/midfield he has been good. His kicking is a highlight, despite a shaky first few games in front of goal. He's perfect up forward for us. Can play as a main target or play a negating role. Loved his game where he took Rance to the cleaners earlier this year! Not only is he capable of kicking bags of 4-5 every few weeks, he sets up a number of goals to others with his great field kicking and footy smarts. Great to see him and Hobbo enjoying their footy again after what would've been a really sh*t time there for a few years.
  6. Can’t even remember this feeling. 100+! What a ride!

Should win comfortably, but we’re not playing well. Winning more than enough ball, but our decision making has been average. We’re playing a horrible team so it’s fine today, but we won’t beat the top teams until that changes. I just wish we could convert our dominance in possession into a bigger scoreline. We let teams score too easily from little opportunity. Our two best mids in Oliver and Viney have had no impact today, so good to be winning the contested battle despite their output being down.
  8. Are we asking who’s had the better career? Better peak? I voted Yze. The fact he is a distant third is strange. He clearly had the best career of the lot. Durable, versatile, elite kick and decision maker, All Australian, key component of multiple finals tilts. He struggled towards the end, and maybe others remember him purely from the end of his career? He was brilliant. Jakovich was flash in the pan. A few seasons of utter mercurial brilliance, but ultimately more of a what could have been. Clarry is less than 50 games in and should’ve be spoken about with these two yet. By the end of his career he will be the best barring injury.
  9. I'll just quote myself from this time two years ago... He's been a great appointment. He's firm but fair, stayed out of the spotlight, and has given us stability. Doesn't get many accolades, but he's done a great job and has been a key factor in turning our club around and seeing us up for sustained success. Kudos to Bartlett!

As in he missed some of preseason due to back issues? He didn’t play for the first year or two of his career due to back injury from memory, so a recurrence that had to be managed would’ve definitely impacted his season.

Suspect Ed Curnow will get a week, while Charlie will cop a fine.

He was one of our best last week but he had a shocker yesterday against the Suns. He’ll probably get the chop for Viney after ANB and Harmes fired up.
  13. He’s had an average few weeks. He’s started to start playing Hollywood style and ignoring the defensive part of the game. Literally stands there and watches opposition run off if he doesn’t get fed the ball on a platter. A mile off his 2016-2017 form.
  14. Petracca is out of form. His first few weeks were good, but he’s obviously been effected by the dog bite and missing playing for a few weeks. I think he’s best suited to playing half forward with stints in the midfield. He’s only shown glimpses in the midfield, and I don’t think his tank will ever improve enough for him to spend majority of game time there and excel. I see him in the Paul Chapman mould, but taller and more explosive. At half forward he’s a hard match up for the opposition due to his marking strength. The frustrating thing when watching him is his lack of work rate. He often skirts packs and refuses to chase and tackle. He’s cruising on talent at the moment. Hopefully he has a big shift in mindset like Clarry did and he starts working his ass off to realize his potential. He could be a top 5 player in the comp, but on current trajectory he won’t be.
  15. 6. Oliver 5. McDonald 4. Harmes 3. Lewis 2. Hogan 1. Brayshaw Apologies to the whole backline, mostly Jetta.
  16. Great to see us finally put the foot down in the last quarter and build percentage. Good win Dees!
  17. Jeez Petracca needs a rocket. Seriously cruising at the moment and barely worth a place in the team on form.
  18. Poor intensity today. Hopefully we get out of first gear and bother to run back and defend. Letting them kick those easy goals is unacceptable.
  19. Tell him to go harder.

    Tom McDonald you genius!

Big week for sure. Win and we jump into the 8 with a good chance to solidify our position next week against Carlton. Lose and we drop away from the pack again. Time to step up Dees!
  22. Doubt he will leave the Dees, but both his younger brothers play for the WA clubs, so if he leaves there's a fair chance it'd be to WA? Brayshaw is a more rounded midfielder than Petracca, but Petracca has the x-factor that not many do. Great to have them both!

Why is that funny? Posters here to have it in for him. The numbers show he was one of our best today. Top 5 for disposals, most marks, top 3 for metres gained, top 5 for inside 50s, top 5 for pressure acts, top 3 for intercepts. Those are good numbers that cannot be argued. He was listed in our best. It was by no means a great game, he misfired a few times, but disposal efficiency of 78% was one of the best amongst our mids. Anyone saying he was poor today shows no ability to understand the game. He's no superstar, but a great midfielder to have in our rotation and is unarguably best 22. Perfect second string midfielder.
  24. He wasn't great today, referred to the Saints as "we" instead of "they" multiple times, showing his bias. Definitely not the worst commentator going around though.
  25. Wasn't clean with the ball in the first quarter, but was still cracking in get amongst it when some other Dees hadn't switched on yet. He got better as the game wore on and his kicking on both sides was on show. Oliver had more ball, but I reckon Brayshaw was BOG. He kicked well, made good decisions and got back to help out when needed. On top of winning a decent amount inside ball, he was a really good link player coming out of defensive 50 today. He just needs consistent games now to build consistency after a good few weeks. He was drafted as a well balanced gun midfielder, and he's starting to show why. Potential gun at AFL level. Keep it up Gus!
