2019 National Draft: Non-MFC Picks
Third-fourth round. He’s a speculative prospect.

Welcome to Demonland: Trent Rivers
Great get for us and will be nice to see a Rivers across halfback in red and blue again. He’s a good size to mop up in the back half and has a neat kick on him. Welcome to the club Trent!

2019 National Draft: Non-MFC Picks
Are Robertson and Bianco still there??

Deven Robertson (Drafted by Brisbane)
Has he still not been picked up?!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
A bid for Mead may knock us back a pick, but yeah we'll wind up around there. Got no currency to trade up either as we used it all up to get pick 8 already. Still plenty of decent prospects available so hoping we land one of Roberston, Bianco, Rivers, Sharp, Taylor, Williams.

No we're about 8 picks in.

Who would you have taken with pick # 3 - recruiters
I heard that interview too and was a bit taken a back that he seemed to open about not taking Green. It does make complete sense what he said in terms of strategy though. Why bid on him if you wouldn't be happy to take him! But that means the clubs rated Green at pick 10 in this draft, which doesn't seems correct on what everyone has seen from him this year. Oh well, it's done now. Jackson is clearly an athletic freak and I hope he becomes a superstar for us!

So clubs just give them a free ride instead of bidding and driving them into a large points deficit? It’s weak. Sydney is the latest a bid should have come for him.

It’s baffling that Green slid to 10 when he’s a clear top 5 pick. GWS get another freebie!

What to do with what is now Pick 32?
I’d love Robertson, but doubt he’ll slide to us. Would love one of Rivers or Bianco. Rivers is solid all round in defence. Bianco is a leader, finds a lot of ball, has good kicking skills and could become a smallish defender or midfielder.

Reportedly poor attitude and doesn’t follow coaches orders/team gameplan. Would be drafted much higher if he did as he’s clearly more capable than most. I wouldn’t be disappointed at drafting him at 30!

Yeah my source was pretty bang on. Much to my dismay I knew about Jackson and Pickett about a week ago. I’ll see if I can find out anything about our early pick tonight.

I’m a Young fan and was disappointed we didn’t take him at 3, but it’s done now. Fremantle were the big winners last night. Young, Serong and Henry is about the best collection of prospects you could ever hope to draft at those picks. They’re building a superb list now. Very jealous.

Oh [censored] Bianco, Worrel and Sharp all still there too! That’s Robertson, Taylor, Gould, Rivers, Sharp, Bianco, Worrel, Schoenberg, Williams all still there. Pick 28 could turn out to be a ripper for us! Exciting!!!

One of Robertson, Taylor, Rivers, Schoenberg, Gould, Williams would be great. That’s order of preference also I reckon.

Deven Robertson (Drafted by Brisbane)
Will be a steal to whoever gets him. He’s a great young leader and good footballer to boot. I hope we can land him!

2019 National Draft: Non-MFC Picks
Robertson still on the board at 20!?! Can we trade up and steal him??
-
Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
Nah purple as I said. Shame he’s at Freo. They’ve cleaned up landing Young, Serong and Henry! Biggest winners of draft night by far!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
Not sure he was the best talent available at pick 10, but he’s a demon now so he has my support. Welcome to the club Kozzie and hope you tear it up in our forward line for years to come!
-
Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
Will watch his career with interest as he dominates wearing purple.

Because for whatever reason we rate Pickett higher than those two, despite exposed form showing otherwise.

You'd think logic would dictate this, but for whatever reason in the past month when no football has been played, Pickett has rocketed up the projected draft positions. If we MUST take a small forward so high and pass on best talent, then Weightman is a better option. He kicks far more goals (11 vs 2), and had double the amount of score assists. They're both similar for tackles (defensive pressure stat). It's a no-brainer comparing the two. From the 3 champs matches: Weightman - 11 goals, ave 6 score assists, 2 tackles Pickett: 2 goals, ave 3 score assists, 2 tackles

Trading and given ongoing benefits from the AFL. The AFL looking after their franchise at the detriment of struggling established clubs. What a glorious and completely fair competition it currently is ?

Yeah I was told Carlton likely bid on Henry, have it matched, then take Stephens. I hope your mail is right! Mine was unsure and said it was now sounding later than originally expected. Sydney still a chance to bid, but seemed to have cooled/kept cards closer to chest.

Spoke to a contact last night and he gave me the below top 15. The ones in brackets are known amongst the industry as pretty much 100% going to happen. Not sure where the Green bid is going to come, but it appears to have dropped right down to around Carlton/Melbournes second pick for whatever reason. Absolute joke that GWS will get him so cheap! GC - Rowell (confirmed) GC - Anderson (confirmed) Melb - Jackson (confirmed) GWS - Ash Syd - Flanders Ade - McAsey Freo - Young (confirmed) Freo - Serong (confirmed) Freo - Henry (match Carltons bid) Carl - Stephens Melb - Pickett Haw - Kemp Port - Berman Dogs - Weightman
