  1. Robertson still on the board at 20!?! Can we trade up and steal him??
  2. Nah purple as I said. Shame he’s at Freo. They’ve cleaned up landing Young, Serong and Henry! Biggest winners of draft night by far!
  3. Not sure he was the best talent available at pick 10, but he’s a demon now so he has my support. Welcome to the club Kozzie and hope you tear it up in our forward line for years to come!
  4. Will watch his career with interest as he dominates wearing purple.
  5. Because for whatever reason we rate Pickett higher than those two, despite exposed form showing otherwise.
  6. You'd think logic would dictate this, but for whatever reason in the past month when no football has been played, Pickett has rocketed up the projected draft positions. If we MUST take a small forward so high and pass on best talent, then Weightman is a better option. He kicks far more goals (11 vs 2), and had double the amount of score assists. They're both similar for tackles (defensive pressure stat). It's a no-brainer comparing the two. From the 3 champs matches: Weightman - 11 goals, ave 6 score assists, 2 tackles Pickett: 2 goals, ave 3 score assists, 2 tackles
  7. Trading and given ongoing benefits from the AFL. The AFL looking after their franchise at the detriment of struggling established clubs. What a glorious and completely fair competition it currently is ?
  8. Yeah I was told Carlton likely bid on Henry, have it matched, then take Stephens. I hope your mail is right! Mine was unsure and said it was now sounding later than originally expected. Sydney still a chance to bid, but seemed to have cooled/kept cards closer to chest.
  9. Spoke to a contact last night and he gave me the below top 15. The ones in brackets are known amongst the industry as pretty much 100% going to happen. Not sure where the Green bid is going to come, but it appears to have dropped right down to around Carlton/Melbournes second pick for whatever reason. Absolute joke that GWS will get him so cheap! GC - Rowell (confirmed) GC - Anderson (confirmed) Melb - Jackson (confirmed) GWS - Ash Syd - Flanders Ade - McAsey Freo - Young (confirmed) Freo - Serong (confirmed) Freo - Henry (match Carltons bid) Carl - Stephens Melb - Pickett Haw - Kemp Port - Berman Dogs - Weightman
  10. We can only dream! Landing Anderson would be a dream. Such a shame we’re being robbed of him. He’s got the most superstar potential of any player in this draft by a fair way IMO.
  11. Reportedly going to slide until around 10ish somehow going by media today. Would be staggering if that happened!
  12. If we’re dead set on drafting a small forward on a needs basis instead of the best player available at pick 10, then Weightman is the one to draft. Highest goal scorer at the champs. Great crumber. Great leap. Good leading player. Good skills. Good forward pressure. He’s the best small forward on offer in this draft.
  13. I’d be disgusted with the club if it panned out that way.
  14. This is no longer correct. 2-3 years ago we didn't leak, I couldn't get anything at all from contacts at the club! This year past 12 months or so are different and there's definitely leaks now. I can now get decent info from contacts at the club. 100% correct. He's a muppet who says outlandish things to try and get into the media. Just look at his list ratings for a bloody good laugh. Apparently the Wagners are better than Viney and Lever ? I can't wait for this draft period to be done so we can stop with all this rubbish and get on with reloading for 2020 after such a pathetic showing this year!
  15. We’d take Anderson at 3 if he slid. IMO he’s the best prospect in this draft. He’s proven to be the best offensive weapon forward of centre. He’s a proven ball winning midfielder who can also play outside or up forward. At 190cm, 88kgs, he fits the tall midfielder prototype and is a smooth mover like Bontempelli. If he was there at 3 and we overlooked him I’d basically give up on the club ever achieving success.
  16. Pickett at 10 is a reach. His output at Nationals and SAFL (outside one reserves game) is bugger all. On output he’d barely scrape into the top 50 prospects. He's clearly got some special talents, but for the most part he hasn’t even got the basics down pat yet. People are getting worked up about some big hits he’s laid to unsuspecting opponents in the SAFL reserves... If he tried those bumps at AFL level he’d bounce off most players because he’s 170cms and 67kg. He’s tiny, like Spargo and despite all the ferocious intent in the world they’ll always struggle because they’re small. Even for a small forward he’s small. People comparing him to Cyril are having a lend. Cyril was rated top 10 in his draft year and slid because he displayed poor attitude when interviewing. In terms of output, he was miles ahead of Pickett. Output aside, he’s also 8cms taller and 13kgs heavier. Pickett will always be a limited footballer and is not worthy of a top 10 draft pick. People say they trust the club will pick the right player, I don’t. The club has proven to be wrong over and over again. We’re currently a failure of a football club and just finished 17th. There will be other players available at 10 who are unarguably better prospects than Pickett. We need to pick the best talent available, not reach for a type of player.
  17. Assuming no live pick trades: 3 - Jackson 10 - Serong 28 - Taylor
  18. Pickett at 10 would be one of the biggest reaches of all time. He’s not a top 10 talent. Pick 28 if he’s there maybe, but pick 10?! Madness! We traded next years first rounder and a host of picks to get a second pick the top 10. Surely we wouldn’t use it on a 170cm player who doesn’t hit the scoreboard or find the ball!
  19. Yeah I favor Young at 3, but doesn’t seem like it’s happening now unfortunately. Jackson clearly has potential, but I’m still not sold on spending pick 3 on him. We likely won’t have a pick this high for many years again so we need to nail it. Credit to Taylor and co for taking risks though! I don’t have any solid info regarding these picks right now, but I do know we met with Ash once this week and met with Serong twice. There’s probably been others too, but I haven’t heard anything else. Both are around the 10 mark so they are on our radar. I’m hoping for Stephens or Kemp, but we’ll have to wait and see how it pans out. At 28 I expect us to draft a small forward or half back like Gould or Rivers if they slide.
  20. He was played as a quarterback for Vic Country during the carnival due to his elite kicking and decision making. His role was to hang back and be fed the ball to setup play. As a player, he's definitely not afraid of winning his own ball. He's no Morton/Toumpas etc. At Dandenong this year, he played more midfield time and his contested possession rate was 48%. in 2018 his contested possession rate was 52%. Those are high numbers. To give you comparisons to our current players, that's higher than both Harmes and Brayshaw, and roughly the same as Petracca. There are zero concerns about his contested ability, and it's why he's got scope to move into the midfield as well as play defence. It's just a shame it doesn't seem like we'll be seeing him in red and blue. I'll be watching his career with interest, as I've seen him play live multiple times this year and he's one of the most appealing players to come through in the past few years IMO. I hope Jackson turns out to be a freak for us!
  21. Use 28 on a small forward. There will likely be a few out of Pickett, Taylor, Williams, Cahill available at this pick. Would prefer Taylor of that lot. Alternately draft a half back like Gould, Bianco, Rivers if we think they slide. Realistically though this pick is going to be a small forward. Would be staggered if it's not.
  22. Take 3, 10, 28 all to draft. At 10, take whoever is leftover out of Kemp, Stephens, Serong, Ash. Young is now off the cards for us it seems unfortunately. I’d be disappointed if we split pick 10 again into more lower picks, as I think we need elite talent and the pool generally thins out quickly heading into the teens.
  23. Average trade IMO. 10+22 would've been decent as we would've landed whichever one of the smalls forwards slid. The small forwards we want are likely to be gone by 28. If they're gone by 28 then we've cocked it up. If not, then it's ok. Why involve Adelaide at all? Why not go direct with Freo and do 10+22? Future 4th in a compromised draft is legit useless and won't even be used. Same weakness we showed when we traded our second rounder down in the Langdon trade.
  24. Seems like Jackson at pick 3 is going to happen. I'm still not sold on the idea as IMO he's too short to be a dominant ruckman at AFL level and has no proven form as a tall forward. Taylor has also been poor with identifying tall talent as our recruiting manager so far. Hopefully Jackson doesn't wind up like the other talls he's picked. I'll just have to accept this reach and hope it works out for us. I admire those saying to trust the club. I cant. We've been a failure for 50+ years and we just finished 17th. I will only trust the club when we stop being a failure. Until then I support them as a paid up member, but will question a number of their decisions that have continued to be wrong. I'm more excited by what we can potentially do with pick 8 now.
