    VDB definitely there, fwiw.

    “It’s a miracle!”
  3. Nick Smith (Swans) 211 games, no votes. So the rumour goes....
  4. I’m a little behind in my reading - what comments were these?
  5. Good point. I thought the Francis mark was one of the best grabs, fwiw. No doubt Hogan would have liked Francis to be eligible, with the possibility it knocked off Heeney, and therefore provided far fewer viewings of him as Heeney’s step-ladder. Probably not Hoges’s most front-of-mind thought this week, though.....
  6. Ship him out - we clearly don’t need talent like his judging by the first half at Optus.
  7. Yes... as long as there’s a “get out” clause for bad appointments, to make sure the ship doesn’t go down. For the sake of clarity, let’s refer to it as the Mark Neeld clause.
  8. Big call, champ.

Get rid of this poster! (Chanelling the original title on the OP - Nibbler was terrific tonight!)
  10. First time we went undefeated in May since 1965. And yes, that's not a good omen year.
  11. Not “embarrassing” as such, but first 100+ point win in 14 years (Carlton, 2 May 2004). Biggest win since 22 August 1993 (121 points over Richmond). Nice to be dishing it out for a change.
  12. GF participant? (1961?)
  13. If memory serves me correctly... 1997 Doggy Brown 2002 Ryan Ferguson 2007 Tom McNamara 2009 Not Utilised We've made pick 66 our own over the years, although probably with decreasing effectiveness. Red, hoping your prediction comes good, and good luck to the young fella.
  14. This thread caused me to look up the stats in relation to Peter Moore. My recollection was he was in that small category of player who Brownlow'd, but didn't win the club B&F in the same year. In 1984 he scored 24 votes to win the Brownlow, with Robbie Flower 3rd on 19 votes. Gerard Healy won our B&F that year, and garnered 2 Brownlow votes. Amazing! Shades of Geoff Raines in 1980 scoring no votes after being raging pre-vote favorite. A rough equivalent in 2017 would be Toby Nankervis knocking off Dusty for the Jack Dyer. Fwiw, like most here I would not have Moore in the team .
  15. Another embarrassing record - been trying without success to win in Hobart since 14 June 1952 (Fitzroy took us down that day).

A particular part of his work that I liked was that in clutch games (esp finals) he was often up and about early when the game was there to be won, hitting the scoreboard in his exciting way.
  17. Don't like to think about this one too much, but actually 2006. 15 in a row, mostly big losses. Closing in on the 16 in a row in the 70s/80s. There, I've dealt with it and will move on....

And 2 votes from the coaches, so his work didn't go unnoticed by the football astute.

Article in yesterday's Hun by Edmund/Gardiner headlining Selwood as the league leader in second half disposals. The others in his top 10 were mostly the usual seasoned suspects for hard running: Fyfe, Ablett, Shuey, Gaff. But talk about "burying the lead" in the story. Number 2 was the now 19-gamer Clayton Oliver, and by my reckoning (with my rusty maths skills) after a 19 disposal 2nd half yesterday he has now gone past Selwood with his 8 disposals to be on top of the list. Astounding performance.
  20. "Your wish is our command, VP!"
  21. Craig Hutchison was all over this on FC: Saints should have picked Bontempelli instead of McCartin. Hutchy - the accurate one!
  22. Happy to knock that one off, but would settle for winning the actual flag. From 8th would be fine!
  23. When we were possibly the most deserving team in AFL history to have not snagged the spoon, based on our body of work for the season. Just when I thought I'd put that memory behind me.......
  24. The much vaunted 2006, and we did it 5 times that year. That is, we had separate winning streaks of 5 and 6.
  25. 6 years and 5 days ago, when we beat Richmond, having beaten Brisbane and handed out the biggest defeat Roos suffered at the Swans. We thought we were on a roll. This time it's different. Please....
