  1. I would look at Stanton; I can't see Essendon offering him though.
  2. I would think that we wouldn't want to be in the RLA precinct during January. Perhaps the gym facilities are going to be shared between the Storm, Victory and ourselves. Having our own facilities elsewhere during Victory's season would then make sense. Training at Gosch's Paddock will never be closed; the last Big Carl game was held there, it is very open. Summer is when you work on your tactics, Casey Fields will be much better for closed sessions. Getting a foothold in a growth area, priceless.
  3. What you've got to do now is top that somehow ... I don't know what with; can somebody suggest something that M4B can take up to get him on the show as well?
  4. We want Carlton and Richmond to get more than 16 points. We need to win no more than 3 more games. We play Richmond twice before the end of the season; they are on 18 points; job done, lose to Richmond twice. We don't play Carlton again, they are on 12 points. I'm worried, I will be sweating on at least 1.5 more wins. I do not trust them. Beat Collingwood on Queen's Birthday; I know that wastes another win, but, we've just got to do it. Lose to West Coast, round 20 I think; don't trust them either.
  5. Any club other than Sydney will get the book thrown at them for having too many players on the field. This doesn't solve your problem; Valenti to the bench and Garland out of the side would. Also, how old is Rivers?
  6. I live in Wheelers Hill; it is pretty easy for me to get there, down the freeway.
  7. Rodney "Balls" Grinter, I go misty eyed at the memory. Loved the guy.
  8. The hard thing to do here is differentiate between the things that you want to happen and the things that you think will happen. I think that these things will happen Neitz to retire, Holland to retire, White maybe retires. Warnock delisted plus a couple more who are on the last year of their contract. Wonaeamirri elevated, Spencer, Zomer and Valenti retained, leaving two rookie spots, three if Yze ( and White? ) goes. Somebody over 25 with some trade value traded - Green, Bruce, Wheatley ... Draft as many more quality kids as possible.
  9. I was there, enough said. My daughter was busy and my son can't get to Saturday games. We will be four strong next week, me, my daughter, my son and his girlfriend.
  10. The 12/10 rule only applies to non-aligned clubs. When Sandy play aligned clubs, they can play anybody on the Melbourne or Sandy list. Any excess Melbourne plaers play in Sandy seconds. With Geelong and Collingwood the rules are the same; they each have a large group of VFL players that bulk out their firsts and seconds.
  11. With the 12/10 rule and with Meeson and PJ out it would be reasonable to assume that Spencer will play as second ruck to Martin. This will mean that Maric and Weetra will be playing for Sandy's seconds.
  12. Meesaon was injured in the second half of the last Sandy game, and did not return. No metion has been made of any injury, that I have seen.
  13. Holland was injured (Quad?) in Sandy's first match, that was a known.
  14. I heard Stephen Gough on SEN this morning; he said no way would the MCC entertain it. The other thing he said that was interesting - in discussing the training oppourtunities at the G he said that earlier in the season the tenant clubs and Melbourne were allowed to train at the G. It may have just been a Freudian slip.
  15. Bare? Freudian or what?
  16. It's a rolling two years, they will get #1 pick if they get less than 16.5 points.
  17. When you in teaching mode, the scoreboard doesn't matter. I would rather he tell them to attack at all times and take risks than to flood and try to save face.
  18. I will sit back and watch it on TV, with a bottle of red.

    Rumours

People have to start making distictions between players we wanted to keep and players we didn't want to keep when discussing who we have traded. Simmonds requested a trade, Farmer's wife wanted to go home to Perth and he was about to be out of contract. Wilson retired and was talked back into playing by St Kilda; we certainly got the best of him. We traded Spalding because his position was about to be occupied by Schwarta. Armstrong was delisted, a fair enough decision. One that you haven't mentioned and who always seems to crop up is Scott Thompson; Melbourne were desparate to keep him, he was desparate to go back to South Australia and requested a trade to either Adelaide club. As he was about to be out of contract, we did the best we could.

I heard the call; it was from some ignoramus that said we should trade Green and let Sylvia go back home to Adelaide. Sylvia hails from Bendigo.
  21. I must admit that a major downer was seeing Footscray supporters with their 2008 member's scarfs. I have got a pile of them and don't really need any more, but to me the scarf is part of my football experience and I do not appreciate my club from taking it away from me.
  22. Just to add grist to the conspiracy mill; Morton is the only player not to have his height listed in the almanac.
  23. It's a football; kick it; Wattching Morton is one of the few things that please me, at the moment. He is no champion yet, but, he just might be!
  24. We have got to stop all this carry on about trading Scott Thompson. He had a desparate family need to go back to Adelaide and asked for a trade to an Adelaide club. We reluctantlly agreed. There is no way that we initiated the trade. Steven Armstrong was delisted with good reason.
