  1. Thanks guys. Good reports. Can't see to many changes. Rivers a certainty to come in. I hear Wheels will most likely be ok to play. Brock they say will be out for around 4 weeks (yet to be confirmed??). Is Newton physically ready to play AFL at CHF?? Sounds like he hasa really improved. Col will need a few more games at Sandy before coming in but he sounds close.
  2. Plus can i add that some crucial ump decisions went against us. That one against Carroll was a disgrace. There were a few others.
  3. Given the supply Gehrig had i though Carroll was OK. Bruce was way off his game. Green could have been better. TJ not special. These three should be major team drivers. If they are not then we will struggle. Ward turned the ball over but has great pace. Doubt if he can get much better at his age in the disposal area. But he gets plenty of it. Bartram was underdone. Will Jamar ever step up? CJ just went but at this stage of his development not ready for forward roles. Did you see his play in the last Q running down the field. He ended up caught. But at one stage he changed gear and put his foot on the pedal and really showed he is quick. I always thought he was slow. Why doesn't he use that level of pace more and back himself. Our midfield was thrashed soundly and embarrassed. To many handballs went to players who did not want to revceive. Miller will improve i have no doubt. Needs to run, run and run. He has a big motor and he should use it to his adavantage. He played his best footy continually presenting. That is his game. If he keeps doing this everything will eventually fall into place. Still i think we can improve over the next couple of weeks.
  4. No over reaction. Rivers and Pickett for Brock and Wheels. If Pickett not fit then Brown (experience) or Buckley if want a bit of youth.
  5. We have only 3 players in the top 50. All in the bottom half. The Grandfinalists of the last two years have 2 players each in the top 10. The pleasing thing about that is that with our young group of players if we can get a few to really emerge we could get there. I would suggest that White and Neita will not improve but Brock, Col, Bate, CJ, Bartram, Jones etc may the the top 10 of the future. They all have heaps of potential. Has Dunn got what it takes to be a top forward? Will Newton step up in the next couple of years. Given that we have made the finals 3 years in a row and are tipped to do it again we have done so with an even list without the top 10 types who tend to break open finals. Not a bad effort. Perhaps Bruce, TJ and Green can step up. Or have they peaked at 26 or so?? One thing is FOR SURE to win a premiership we need a couple of players to emerge from the group and dominate. Col has heaps of potential but cannot get his body right. Brock is maade of the top 10 stuff. Can some of the others step up?? Who is most likely to emerge? What players can make the difference? Will it be next year, this year? No coach can win a premiership without those real top guns in the side. CAC has spent several years building this list. Now lets see how far they can be developed by the club.
  6. I would say the following good servants of the club would find it difficult to keep their spot on the list: Godfrey Biz Ward Brown Holland or Ferguson - hepls that we do not have any other 6 foot fivers back line players at the club. Because of their salaries their future will be carefully weighed up. At the most we may keep two on a one year contract depending on how much more money we have to come up with to pay the up and comers. Those who will make it this year: CJ can look forward to a good career with the MFC Belly if he can stay injury free Bater will play most games Jones will play most games Bartram again (unreal game for Sandy with limited prep - played half and 17 possies) Dunn will take some steps forward and hopefully Frawley can get a few games. Yze will resurrect his career.
  7. Jones is going to be a very good player for us for quite some time. Has trimmed down and seems to have a bit more pace. Was very good today. We were lucky that he slipped thru to us. Strong and can get the ball. Was sensational today. CJ is finally at the stage where he should get a regular game. Showed pace and skill and he can kick goals. Is a good size & looked highly skilled today. Jones and CJ will be very good players for us. I thought Bate was good today. Seems to have trimmed down a little but still has a big strong build. A little less weight makes him appear a bit taller than last year. I stood next to him last year at a Sandy huddle at Q time and his large build made him appear smaller than his 191cm. Showed today he has plenty of pace. Bate will be a very good player for a long time. I can see him having the ability to hold down key positions as he matures. He looked good today when he got the ball. Frawley showed he has heaps of pace today and has oddles of guts for a young guy. Got a bit of attention from Polak after he ran down the field and participated in a play that resulted in a goal for us. He will be a very good KPP for us. Pencil him as a regular from 2009 with a number of games in between as he learns the caper. Again another player i think slipped thru to us as he will be very good. Can play tall and small. Very athletic. Buckley was a little quiet. Looks like CJ a bit when he gets the ball. Has pace and skills. May play a couple of games this season. Will spend most of the year developing at Sandy. Will get a big opportunity in 2008 when i think some of the players (good servants of the club) who have been on the list for a number of years will have moved on. Dunn was quiet. I heard that Sen report also that placed him in the best players. No way. But we have seen enough of him to know that he will eventually be a player. All up we have some very good young players that will keep us in with a chance over the next decade. Regardless of what anybody says Neitz and White will be very hard to replace. Lets hope that they will be around for a few years yet. White was good up forward and i think kicked 3 goals. Jamar is very good in the ruck but does not do enough around the ground. Whether he can pick up here????? It does worry me though.
  8. Lets reserve judgment on Miller. He played last year with OP which is debilitating if you cover a bit of ground like Miller. Give him a while to settle in again this season. Also lets not expect to much from Buckley. Pencil him in for a 2008 or 2009 regular. He looked good but its a pre season game way below full pace.
  9. About time. Three in my family though have both at the moment. Will be great to get an extra few thousand members. Great forward thinking MFC management.
  10. If it were a couple of guns on gambling report the Kerr rule would apply. 2 weeks suspended and an apology for making it public!!!! And the beauty of it the penalty decreases with each future transgression hehe
  11. Good report WJ. Love to hear the latest training news. We did well in the draft last year. Bartram ans Jones at pick 12 looks like he will make it. Players like that with those picks only come along so often. Luckily for us CAC has structured the list in a way that this years picks will not need to make an impression for a year or two. When will Colin Sylvia get a full preseason? Will he be a gun (as touted prior to drafting) or just a good average player?
