Alex Rance
He is also the pr!ck that punctured Tim Smiths lungs with unnecessary knees to the back in a ‘marking contest’.

Fat Ed wants QB as a Collingwood home game.
It is more complex than alternating. If they pick this up as a home game, we have to get one back and they have to lose another. It’s like a jigsaw. The Anzac Day, drugtime and other marquee games would probably have to be put into the mix, so that it can all work out. eddie believes he runs the AFL. Perhaps he does. It is not about his charity, it is about fixture maximisation. This is just a self important whinge from fat fingers Maguire. Dees need to no longer be victims of others agendas, but start setting the agenda ourselves.

Changes v Collingwood
Against the filth, we may need Joel Smith who seems the most athletic of our back men-in-reserve. Given they play Cox (spud) maybe Reid (manageable) and leave it to athletic mid size players for the bulk of their scoring, Smith may be the best matchup. if Reid comes back, we might need more height, so perhaps frost for 1:1 and Harmes in the intercept role. we will want to play this game in our front half, not theirs. Territory may be the best indicator of game outcome so our clearance work has to improve from the dogs game.

Williamstown v Casey Demons - Round 9
Funny that. This is almost word for word what posters were saying about Brayshaw. Is he still looking for a trade, you reckon?

Jake Lever injury - Confirmed ACL
Harmes looked to spend a fair bit of time back with Lever down, and could be a useful replacement in the role. It would then be about adding a rotation to the midfield.

"Like having two Nick Riewoldts"
Another stat I would be interested in is their inside 50 delivery to a target. Not only are they kicking scores, they are setting them up. TMac had 12 score involvements vs the Dogs. Incredible stuff

Caro digs up old wounds of Camp Fiasco on eve of season.
Nap, nuthin would have helped maxi kick that, even 6 weeks on camp!

Caro digs up old wounds of Camp Fiasco on eve of season.
Perhaps a meta comment on the change in narrative. So much criticism of the club and the way it was all handled, people wanted to make such a fuss out of all of it and to make it a reason why we played poorly. Noticing how this isn’t an issue any more...

Interesting. Where has all the moaning about the camp gone now? All those flogs who carried on about it in relation to anything not going perfectly have become very quiet. so can we draw the conclusion that NOT doing the camp caused our success? Of course not. But I wonder how fast it will come up as an albatross to hang around the club’s neck if stuff doesn’t go to plan?

Dom Tyson
Earlier in the year it was Angus that couldn’t get a game. When chosen by the club- when they thought he was ready- he has been a revelation. Time for Dom to work his way back in. At the minimum, he is a high quality backup for injury or form issues.

Brendan McCartney - Moved to the bench
Huge wraps in the Hun today. Scanned it over a coffee in the local cafe, and were talking up his development credentials. We are becom8ng a media darling... I’m not used to it!

Over at the Doggies supporter forum . . .
It is Jones’ 250th. I will pop a valve if they don’t have a dip for Nate.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TIM SMITH
I think Smith is ace. After Rance’s special (how many players does he fly the knees into? He should be held to account, dirty prich), he has worked himself back into the team. It is brilliant, because it adds another dimension to the forward line, and provides a great challenge for Weids to earn his spot against. No gifting games. He adds strength and skill to the forward line. Go Bull!

If you don't mind Umpire ...

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 11
Even at 80% we would give the dogs a run on their current servings of tripe. If (and it is a big IF) they can get it together, I can't see them scoring enough, or limiting us enough, to get the chocolates. I could imagine they might try an old fashioned flood and attempt to block the back half so the scoring is limited, then rope a dope Essendon style using Johannison etc. We are much better defending against the goals over the back now (which was the old achillies heel) and they really have no forward to speak of. Max will eat them alive (we could even play Flipper and he would halve the contest). Perhaps they will go hard man on man - that suits our HULK-SMASH contested ball game. So on reflection, I find it hard to see where we will lose it, unless we go back to bad habits and jog to contests, get sucked into disputed balls and our press gets sucked too far up the ground. It smells like a big win. Conservatively, even if they run hard at us for a few quarters, can see us breaking their backs and running away with it. Conservative guess with no personnel problems (I cant bring myself to use the 'i' word..)and a non-Kool-aid drinking performance: Dees by 50.

What’s really changed since our last loss?
This is like porn. Keep it going!

Give us some credit! (Media reaction merged thread)
Kane Cornes sucks dogs balls. Only 2 players chosen from a team that beat 4th placed crows by 91 points? Should have just cut and pasted the team sheet. After watching some of the other matches, he honestly has no idea.

Talking Dees on the Monday Night Footy Shows (28/5)
I think the potential has been there for a while, it is the maturity and the 'team first' actions I am seeing at every contest that I am really appreciating. We are riding the high at the moment - the wrist slashers are not far away - one loss will do it and they will be back. However, I think that if we keep up this attitude and approach we can ride out bad periods in games when we are beaten, and even bad games if we have them. This for me is about building the long term framework that success will be built on, and the belief to grab back success if it starts to be taken away by opposition clubs. The way they are sharing, not over celebrating, not getting distracted and just getting on with stuff is superb! We keep this up, and momentum will swing in behind us. Momentum is a powerful force in football. The maggots ride it, the crowd rides it and it can give us advantage before we even run out (as long as we don't drink our own Kool aid). I think this is where Goody and the coaching team will now earn their stripes - keeping the lid on inside the club whilst everyone outside leaps on the bandwagon.

What they're saying . . .
How about Bruce’s “Eddie is in fine form, he is just not getting enough of it”. Trying to blow smoke up a frozen Ahrse-hole with that one.

Changes vs Bulldogs
The only change is the narrative. Time to take us seriously. Cats, Hawks and Tiggers damned happy they played us before the Tsunami started.

Post Match Discussion - Round 10
It is a difficult week. What can you say? It has been a long time since I have seen such a complete performane - from any club, let alone one in the Red and Blue. I dont know how I feel. But I love it, and want more of it. I love Goody’s straight bat presser. Not getting ahead of himself. My god. Tent pole in the Y fronts territory!
