  1. I thought he was development coach, not a line coach? Can probably do better work face to face with the players from the bench, rather than over the phone from upstairs. is there a story here? Don’t know. Need more than guesses or hearsay to know...
  2. I even forgot about Tyson! He is more of a certainty if he is over his illness than the others...
  3. I could see Hunt replacing frost, Stretch replacing Lewis, and T smith replacing Bugg. We only then need one further change and the Weid is included as well. Richmond don't have a tall match-up for Frost, and Omac should take Whiner Reiwoldt. There is a huge list of players that could be considered to come out based on last week's shenannigans to make way for Weid. Might even be someone like Wagner.
  4. I liked when Hannan played wing - link man, going forward as needed. Perhaps this is a role for him to develop into?
  5. Funny Game. We do North, North does the Hawks, the Hawks do us. Don’t know what to make of it this season
  6. This shows the underlying problem at Casey and Melbourne. We clog up our forward line - but are hopeless at getting it to a free to a player for a shot. We leave lots of space over the back - but dont run both ways or have the legspeed to manage. There are some serious issues with the gameplan and the personnel asked to play it at both levels. Manic pressure by hawks last week, Tigers 2nds this week brought it all undone. Clog it up in our forward line and run the other way fast and you cut the demons open. Seems like an easy game plan to beat. Until we get personnel that can find the loose man outside, Have players that are fast enough the other way, and we can sustain intense pressure, we have (and will have) plenty of problems.
  7. JKH is a long way back. Getting involved, but having negative impact on every conterst
  8. Watching Norf v Dorks is like watching a dog eat its own vomit
  9. Press to high, rush disposals, open over the back. too cute with the ball
  10. Jaegermeister is my nauseator. My god, my stomach clenches even thinking about it...
  11. This competition is all over the place. Hard to get a bead on how things will pan out. Makes the capitulation last week even more painful.
  12. By sweeping the fend arm to the side before it contacts you, it throws the balance off and you can tackle the body. With the arm out of play, locking in the arm holding the ball and smashing the [censored] into the turf is the next objective. you know he is going to fend, so practicing the counter should be part of the prep.
  13. Just saw that Johnnie Walker is now an official partner. After last Sunday, perfect timing....
  14. Full forward, chopping out in ruck, swinging back only if needed.
  15. Seems to be the problem most teams have. Considering he gets away with murder by the umpires, too. perhaps it will be a case of tagging in the midfield and team defence in the back half.
  16. I didn’t know he is potentially out with a hammy. For the Chinese burns he will need to be over his wrist injury...
  17. Ok, Balic for pressure, then?
  18. Add Lewis (inj) and that is 7 from the game on Sunday. (Includes emergencies) would suggest it won’t be this drastic, but could see Hunt, stretch and Balic coming in for speed, Probably need one more tall for balance. If they all go back, then that sends a huge message....
  19. I know, right? Have to lift my game...
  20. Drove past Goshes Paddock between appointments, and it looked like MFC were training (or about to train). Unfortunately, in the interests of staying employed, I couldn’t stop in. Anyone else attend, and can offer some insights? I wonder who looks like coming in?
  21. Can we pop her on the rookie list? She is awesome, and would play with more heart than we saw on the weekend
  22. I saw this article. Shows we are a work in progress. The ability to them to jam us up and destroy our forward entry was evident on the weekend. The review would be interesting this week - it seems we have a lot of 'external review' of our gameplan, and if we fail to learn from it, we deserve what we get. We have to learn to respond, and to hold our own structures for our own benefit - not get sucked into their plans. Seems that this change, made after qtr time, made a significant impact.
  23. and 14 our of 26 games we saluted the judges. If we LOST 21 from 26, there would be some value in this stat. On the other hand, it speaks to the way we set up, and the way that Goody is looking to derive his wins. High press, contested ball wins, hard running both ways. He believes this style will win finals. Any system has its strengths and weaknesses. When we play the system correctly, it works. When we jog and are second to the contest, it doesn't work.
  24. On reflection, I think this is actually about selecting for the next two games. Given the short timeframe between games, the way we select to give ourselves the best chance of winning both games, we will need to explore the depths of the roster. Selection has to be about what is going to serve us best across both games. We may need to look at resting certain players in the bombers game, particularly older hands that may not pull up as fast. I would expect a few changes for structure this week, and perhaps a significant number of changes for week 2. I could see guys like Bernie and maybe even Jones being spelled for one of the games. In terms of midfield, I could see us switching out 3 or 4 for rested types who played at Casey on the weeend, with an extra 3 or so days recovery. Maynard, Balic and the like will probably be subbed in. The bombers, who also have a short gap between games, will be in the same boat. It may be the fittest team/ one with the deepest roster wins. We may see a few debuts over the next two matches.
