  1. not sure if we remember but there was a goal kicking machine at this level - shayne smith. was kicking bags of goals in the under 18's but was a man playing amongst boys... i am sure that we have come a long way during this time but....
  2. jaded, could not have said it better!! has become a habit of his and did not heed any of the warnings, so a suspension you must have!! trust that he goes back to being a ball player - does not want to be remembered for being a sniper!!
  3. he again went past the ball, which a good ball player does not do!! lyden dunn did a terrific job and again, the protected one takes his frustration out on the player and not the footy!! it may have been soft but under the system, he will get points for sure and as such a suspension!!
  4. the holding the ball decision against cj was a disgrace... no prior opportunity, did not pull it in and did not dispose of it incorrectly... later in the game - sydney player tackled and just lets the ball go.. umpire says - he tried!! pardon?? honestly, as much as i hate grant thomas, he does have some good points re the umpires and why their is such a difference in opinions!!
  5. I would pick Morton once everyday and twice on Sunday over Palmer... will be an onballer, back flanker, forward flanker and in years to come will provide so many matchup issues. he is something very exciting....
  6. also took some of the kickin's today and was very penetrating.... it is one of the best point kick-in's clinic today!! persist with Chris, showed something today!!
  7. why has bell been dropped?? when the pies have: medhurst who bell smashes, didak who bell smashes I can just see two of the afl's biggest cats carving us to pieces!! and buckley being dropped is disappointing because he is the one that is genuinely trying to provide the run out of defence!!! could be a long long day!!
  8. Melbourne Squad Backline: J.McDonald, C.Garland, J.Frawley Half Backs: B.Green, M.Warnock, P.Wheatley Centreline: C.Morton, B.McLean, C.Bruce Half forwards: M.Bate, B.Miller, L.Dunn Forwards: P.Johnson, C.Sylvia, A.Wonaeamirri Followers: J.White, B.Moloney, N.Jones Interchange from: C.Bartram, J.Bode, N.Carroll, M.Jamar, C.Johnson, J.Rivers, A.Yze Team Changes In: J.Bode, N.Carroll, M.Jamar, C.Johnson, J.Rivers, Out: R.Robertson (injured) , D.Bell, S.Buckley ( omitted)
  9. the last thing we want is for one of our young guns to miss a preseason - look at syliva.. he is yet to complete a full preseason!! would like to see him but he is a 10 year player for this club, so why set his career back in a year where there is nothing to be gained except the number 1 draft pick and of course blooding our youngsters!! i would rather see maric, stef martin, etc play...
  10. We are close to paying the salary cap this year - very frightening!! the other issue is that it will be harder to land a big name with new teams coming in.. we have zilch tradeability at the moment....... time to drag a rabbit out of a hat i am thinking!!
  11. I am sick of hearing all the excuses rolled out by our 'leadership group' in their weekly interviews and how we will turn it around, we need to have high intensity for all four quarters, that tackling is the key, etc, etc... None of this crap counts and mkes them look more foolish, if come game time it is all forgotten!! What I would like to see is for them to do something on the field - get ten tackles, make the opponents hurt and bleed, show some raw emotion on the field, etc, etc.... Honestly, I could go a week without hearing from the club, especially if i knew that when it is 2:10 on a saturday afternoon, they are ready to turn it on!!
  12. the incident was just oen of those things - a contest of one demon vs three saints and the ball kicked over robbo's head in the centre of the ground!! Get well Robbo!!!
  13. I was watching the Freo vs Power game last evening and was very surprised to see that the holding the ball rule and in the back appeared to be very different from a week ago!! Players being carried forward in the tackle and being adjudged to be holding the ball or even pushed right in the middle of the back but had not disposed of the ball correctly!! The umpires are paid reasonably well to do a job but unfortunately, a bad bounce sees an umpire sacked whereas a poor decision sees them get another week... all we as supporters are after is consistency and at the moment, this is an area that they are failing terribly!!
  14. agree that morton has a bigger upside to palmer!! you just have to watch cale and the way that he moves to realise that he is just a baby that has done his first half preseason, that he has pretty good skills under pressure and that by playing him now, he will be better for it.. the in and unders now have a silky smooth wingman that makes smart options!! does anyone remember shane smith??
  15. how about afl members that do not attend? i would have thought that this was also a problem if the mcc is an issue!! my god man, i have no idea where to start? I am lost for words!!
  16. Noticed that the Blues got just under 30,000 at the Telstra Dome on a Saturday vs the Dockers. We got just under 20,000 at the G on a Sunday vs the Dockers.. Our membership is considerably less than that of the Blues!! I have been to all games at the G this year and shall continue to go when commitments allow. It is always a great day - plenty of parking, plenty of seats but more importantly, our crowd is always so loud and passionate!! that day against freo, well it was amazing.... the experience of a day like this is just amazing and shows why we have the best game in the world!!! there are no easy options - i think we have the right men in charge with connolly and mcnamee.... who knows what the presidency holds but Gardiner continues to hold his head high and promote this club brilliantly!! I love this footy club, the legends that have pulled on the guernsey and the future players that have excited me this year!!
  17. No doubt it will be reported as a mistake only..... it was a blatant error that blind freddie would have been able to see... we could not control the laughter because we thought he was joking!!
  18. ewok, think that because carroll did it and then cannot back it up by playing tough, that they dont rate him.... whereas both jones and moloney are both hard and will put their heads over the ball when required to do so.... difference in toughness!!
  19. we should beat them - if we perform at the same level as against the gunn's timber hawks, we will win going away and put pressure on lyon and his team of underperforming hacks!! do we want to win though? i know, i know - very negative talk but with the blues and tigers both going to win more than 5 games or they should, it would leave the team that finishes last with the number 1 draft pick....
  20. totally agree.... feel body contact and immediately drop to the knees!! not sure there is anything that can be done for this - didak is the greatest exponent of it!! also, as a ruckman can i cross the centre line and stand there while my opponent jumps? i thought that this was shepherding and against the rules, but again i must be wrong.. thought jamar was harshly treated several times!!
  21. davey tackled morton, the ball was then dropped, then the in the back... so technically wasnt the holding the ball the first decision and then the in the back? i just do not understand the rules of the game, especially when you go each week and they change?? watched the replay as well - the davey 50 metre was definitely there... however, the treatment that he received from that scumbag in osborne was verging on rape!! he may be related to crowley or josh carr but honestly, he would be the worst player to win a premiership!! the buddy tackle on aussie, well... matthew james would have been the umpire for sure and as we know, he enjoys a good time.....
  22. I have been surprised at the rate he has adapted to the pace of seniors... he is quite good overhead, has good skills by foot and hand, has excellent vision and more importantly loves playing footy!! he is infectious....
  23. with ben holland being a possible out, we need a tall target up forward... perhaps paul johnson can play this role and mean that white comes in for clogs!! cannot see bell being dropped - thought he played a very disciplined and strong game yesterday. morton might be one to go for sylvia. cale has shown us that he is going to be a very very good player for this footy club. yesterday his composure at times was well beyond his years!! frawley will continue to get big jobs - he was pretty good again and has run and dash out of defence!! play the youth - have shown that they are not out of theie depth!!
  24. I was surprised at his closing speed.... was able to close buddy down on the lead and spoil!! chance bateman's couple of passes were perfect and nothing that could be done but even so, he was on buddy's hammer... played a good game, made good decisions with the ball and provided some run out of defence! amazing what a bit of faith and confidence does!! would expect him to get the grinch in v-volt this week...
