good post I cant see Richardson being a mentor..If he were to sit above Goody he may as well be doing his job. Richo might well prove a clever get as an assistant...if that were to transpire
  5. @Pates on all seriousness i think context sets the time parameter. Goodwins training wheels came off when Roos left. Gameday wise a year earlier. I think its not only fair but relevant to afford anything within his tenure as having had affect.
  6. yes it might.....everything has an effect.
  7. yep.. I suppose the problem is hes 30...but it's not like he's worn himself out lol. Should be a season or two left in him til we can train up a replacement ( or find a ready made)
  8. just changed the goalposts....That wasnt the thrust of the discussion
  9. Well actually we do, in a fashion. Just doesnt want to play ball the way the coaches want...or is just a marked man. I have a sneaky suspicion with different Assistants he might just come good again

shhh they dont want to hear that.....
  11. I tend to agree that those who , as their right is I suppose , just suggest it's all a joke may not be seeing the bigger picture. That picture is not just expanse but time. Quite often in work places something can happen that sets off a chain of events. The eventual calamity may not be for months or years, but it's festering away. People can often get pushed offside by a person or some situation, they put it aside and go on as though all is OK. But the seed is sown. Even though one may put head down , bum up and put shoulder to the wheel in order to get on with things that niggle is still there. A dam doesnt fail because it suddenly fails ( short of a squadron of Lancasters) . That moment has been ages in the making. It starts often with a small crack....and time....and pressure.

  14. The more you look at it the more certain I am actually there IS a connection. That is when the ROT really set in... The demise of this season is everything about how we went about last season...and that last season started with its preseason. Happy to be derided...hell add it to the list Im not slashing wrists. The success of this club has nothing what soever to do with my happiness and state of content. We have no success...so I HAD to find other things to enjoy Cheers
  15. Ive been thinking about this. I reckon they were...just as bad. The difference was whilst we had enough sound bodies , and until we were figured out, then our British Bulldog , gung ho , stack on the mills , rush the ball forwards, contain in 50 ...coerce through the goals style was successful ( as it were ). Skills weren't the #1 prerequisite....just keep corralling the ball forward. But of course you can't keep that up forever. That and everyone including the Chirnside Park under 10's have figured out our devilish little plan. Now we are on the back foot ( often ) and need to have skills, they aren't there. They were never honed nor practised. Only 2-2 players can consistently kick to a position with accuracy and weight. I'm not sure anyone can actually handball except to someones feet or the opposition !! For a team, supposedly at the elite level, we're pretty woeful Red.
  16. yes it was...but in hindsight it possibly has more weight that we were prepared to concede at the time Actually...would have been a masterstroke..really
  17. For mine , in a fashion it wasnt what the actual revolt was about ( though the machinations warrant closer inspection no doubt ) it's that there was even anything that reeked of discord. Clearly everyone IS NOT on the same page. There was obviously a Hollywood style attempt at unity but just like LaLaLand I can only now feel it was all a charade.. Melbourne seems to have become masters of Spin, shame we aren't so good at Football
  18. It was most bizarre to watch I thought. A bit like two wary boxers circling a ring , neither really prepared to lay a real punch, just shadow jabbing. Was very surprised that one , we tried this tact and secondly that Collingwood didnt come off the ropes more. Was like they were mesmerized...lol.. Then Bucks woke them up Round two..they changed up...we fell apart
  19. @Deefensive Language Quite the interesting post. What actually happened and why etc is not something I'm particularly au fait with. That said there have been rumblings in certain quarters for quite some time...( coincidentally...oh...about the time Roos left ) I know that there is nearly always more than meets the eye with these things. A bit of a lid's been placed on some disquiet at Melbourne for some whiles now. Not sure I would concur with everything in the OP, but it makes a provoking read.
  20. Who ever would have thought a game's highlight (for us ) would be Oscar kicking a goal !!
  21. sadly....thats pretty well spot on
