Surely thered be half a dozen in front of Howe before you thought about moving him on. Howe , for mine, had a bit of a flat year ( wasnt alone ) but has all the makings of something. The right person in his ear and a stable off filed will benefit ( again, hes not alone here ) trade him ? No way

This is your opinion.. I would have it it doesnt hold as fact Much of the basis of many a person's frustration and less than loving approach to Sylvia is wholly based upon his yo yo like efforts over the years, and indeed within games themselves. Is he a talented player ? without a question. Has he fulfilled his potential ? Seldom Does he play well ? Plays OK and occasionally shines. Does he play to his limits every game ? hardly. Absolute best...i very much doubt it id put it to you and others that in a appropriately Melb analogy hes very much a fair weather skier. When all things are going ok he puts i, and sometimes a bit more. On bad days he can go missing. He bleeds red like the rest of us and gets a very handsome retainer for attendance. if he was nearly as good and as much a r and b gun hed have placed higher than 5th in the Bluey.. Actually the Bluey is a very good litmus for the marks are given by those who are tasking the players. They dont rate him nearly as high as some here. heres a player who could make things happen he'll be a gun one day ...you just watch

well heres my thinking... maybe out there there's a team that ...oh, i dunno wants to adopt a , lets call it Moneyball strategy .!!! lol geez we have some deadwood Strauss for mine falls into that category of saccharins. They aren't the real thing but might add something to a deal !!

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/why-melbourne-can-turn-it-around-sooner-than-you-think-writes-paul-roos/story-fni5f91a-1226690406107 In this article Roos suggests all is not doom and gloom His starting point for a team is.. MELBOURNE B: Frawley Garland HB: Grimes McDonald C: Blease? Jones Watts HF:Sylvia Dawes Hogan F: Clark Howe R:J amar? Trengrove Viney I/C: Fitzpatrick? ? = can they be a consistent AFL player? He later goes on to talk about various players and yet nowhere does Pedersen get a mention, Thats because he just doesnt rate. Who ever signed him for 3 ought to be shot 2 more years in the magoos Cam, Consider it charity Just like Byrnes...a selection blunder

Dont beleive the hype people, he's just not that good !!! Well done Mr Hogan
-
Thing is Cross IS a mid...Col isnt. This is also where we need to look to as to his value "today' A number of ppl can fill the position that Col currently occupies, from within..or import. Mids ... well this is our dire need
-
shlt happens hey wj ....lol

I agree with the notion we will return to some form of regular programming. One captain, competitive team...playing football... Should be novel for us

i suppose thats the intrigue.. Roos settled and remade Rhys. ( damn good player) could he do the same with Heath ?. Hed be very capable and damaging off the half back.
-
I agree. We are slowly repainting the image of our club as featherweights
-
im not up to speed with you here BB.. How does it matter what our relationship is with the Swans...or any other club in that regard... were we looking at having drinkies .. or a spin on the harbour afters ..etc. ?? facetious yes.. but wtf does it matter either way ? What does matter is now when someone takes a swing they get a whack back !! I have NO problem with that...none at all.
-
Some players come from the banana-bending state TBF !! lol
-
Fifty 5 FA compo for mine comes under the same umbrella as PP...if its on offer..I'll take it.
-
it might not...it might need other 'negotiation' of other picks. But hes a fair dinkum mid. Suddenly the gutz looks like Jones, Viney, Cross, Chapman, Rockliff, Toumpas, Trengove, Jordie....... just an "what if "
-
Ive asked elsewhere....is he worthy of some form of pick swaps including ...dare i say it....#2 ? Just asking. Also posted elsewhere but I will here to .. Hypothetical.. We think we have Cross, make a play for Chappy. Roos has a history of player-whispering blokes like Shaw. add Rockliff to the middle....now look at the team sheet ? draft some others and youve got 2-3 reasonable years of a competitive type midfield whilst kids come on. We're a footy team again...a real one !!
-
Ok...I'll play A very left field hypothetical. A dodgy rumour, but i'll work with it suggest Rockliff might be avail for the right deal. ( we're talking using #2 in some manner ) Add Cross and make a play for Chapman. Not my fancy really but Roos has a history....add Shaw into the half back line Now right up a team sheet. A bit different huh ? this would give us 2-3 years of competitive midfield whilst the youngens develop. We'd seriously straighten up. we'd almost look like a real football team....truly

So, where to from here with pick 2?
beelzebub replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
is Rockliff together with some sort of swap of picks further down ( to our adv ) worth #2 ? just asking ? -
a good time to hit the lions up , whilst theyre a little off kilter, what with all their mess ( unlike our fine sorted out club ) They've a number who are rather peeved and/or homesick. Theyre in for a mini rebuild at least.
