Well..I wasnt overly enamoured with Benny Boys highlights either but Port fans are spitting chips and our FD is grinning so what the do I know ( from just watching vids that is..lol ) I saw some good kicking and some very decent tackling ( actuallu clever tackling ) in and amongst Petyraccas reels. Id be pretty happy if it was he and Brayshaw called out..having said that the gods will probably arrange something entirely different !!..as they do -
The more i think about it all the more im simply confused. However. If I cast a glance over what StKilda is trying to do,I believe thats 17-18 picks over the next 3 years all from inside the first 3 rounds of the draft with heavy emphasis on rebuilding the list from the draft and a couple of buy-ins. This years draft has some very good talls and kp players and some very good mids, but next year is touted as a very good year for mids and not so for talls etc.. then again wtfrk ..lol But on that basis and if they want to start replacing their forward structure i.e get ready for life after Nick they wont find much next year where as this year offers up Paddy on a plate, if they want him. Would they take the chance and pass up McCartin ? Will be harder to draft another like him and everyone will be bidding for any on the market. This is the Sainters free hit. Its often proffered that you take the 'best available" but the best what ?? The best over all and how do you work all of that out or the best player per your needs. If StKilda are to have any hope of lifting off the bottom they need to impact the scoreboard. Who will kick their goals. They lack firepower. Their midfield needs building too. If StKilda is looking to reinvent itself over the next 3 years then they will languish if all they have up front is Saint Nick and Membrey. Membrey is not a McCartin ( or what Paddy should become in a few years ). Mids, they can get someone surely at 21 and 22 the draft is quite flat after the first half dozen prospects through to about 35-40 I personally feel McCartin is just too tempting a morsel to pass up for the Aints. I think its easier for them to make a case to pick Paddy at 1 than to take Petracca . It's splitting hairs perhaps. Glad Im not doing it

Not only can he kick...but he knows where to kick it.. He has good footy vision ( well to me ) . He can roost it over 50m ( and should get better ) or stab it in over 25. Be quite happy if he 'slips' to us . Not the 'stab' of old but a low hard drop punt today -

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
beelzebub replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Something i've been pondering in respect to all of this is to do with the relative uniqueness of this situation. This is a Team wide, team instigated offence. The scale and duration of this arent something that WADA or any of its branches have had to deal with previously. Then theres the shadow of the political intervention. If WADA are determined to claim sovereignty in these matters then you'd imagine they will want to go strong on this one. This is a chance to put it up in lights wor all the world to take note of !!! "Team Sports beware, we'll get you too" To tackle the individual transgressor isnt so much a task, but to take on the herd ( ) is a whole different thing as has proven the case taking far more time and resources than really available. If there was an opportunity for WADA to fire off a warning flare to the sporting globe then this is it. It can't really afford to let essendon off with any thing tiggy touch. It will need heads on platters. It will send THE message to all and sundry " IF YOU DO IT, WE WILL COME " If they squib it, the lid will lift off Pandoras Box and all hell will let loose. Im sure Bombers see it as Essendon on trial but in reality from a world perspective its WADA themselves who are called to task here with many an interested coach /team/organisation casting their watch down our way. The world couldnt care less about some obscure competitions delinquents, but they will be interested to see who wins this stoush. WADA knows this only too well. No one will dispute the EFC has much at stake here, but WADA has more. WADA can't afford to blink here. -

WADA dont look for excuses NOT to challenge....They look for reasons TO challenge !! -

Something we lament at the Dees are kicking skills. Petracca seems to be able to weight a ball very VERY well. I like this. -
Am not really fussed what 'reason' StKilda espouses in deciding against Petracca
-
I still think Lever was being looked at should we have had a pick around 8-10 as a result of a trade ( Tysonesque ) . I dont think hes been considered as a #3 though

might have to give this a go...maybe not 100% but a near to . Interesting... thanks chaps !

I acknowledge that but irrespective of how they got there they had the backbone to go on wards and play with spirit and for the jumper. Whatever is left of the despicable Essendon they too should seek to emulate at least a feigning of character and resolve. It would be the first step in regainng some respect, not only for themselves but by others of them. -
stuck up bas........lol we'll toast you....or roast you maybe both !!
