  1. didnt say there was anything wrong with it...and hell...were they to adopt the original Athenian garb But Olympic ? nah
  2. I've been unable to take the Olympics seriously since they introduced leisure pastimes into the mix. Golf......really... Tennis ...Beach Volleyball ffs I even question the validity of Basketball. Hell let's even it out with V8 supercars...there's a medal for us . They've managed to turn the games into a parody of itself. The winner is....... corruption and the dodgy folk running it. Won't bother me thinks.
  3. As premiership teams also have shown...a list is ALWAYS a work in progress
  4. Becomes interesting though if , as a hypothetical, Dion at seasons end were to suggest to GC. Im out of here. I WANT to go to the Demons.. You guys can deal with other civillly . .... Of course given GC are in the tarpit presently they may not be as keen as in the past. I do however think as a club we are now viewing draft picks more and more as purely currency and not the player it might represent.
  5. I kinda see it as possibly needing Jaeger less than in previous years but the likes of Prestia still warrant interest. Not a 'must get"....but handy
  6. Am sure we're looking at both of them among any number of players around the grounds as it were. As AW highlights... Its all about tractable results though. If risk analysis pops him up as a legit get..well... Id be surprised if we wouldnt have that niggling suspicion that he could topple over at any given moment. Runs on board mean little here now, its about the likelihood of getting out there and STAYING out there that;s the issue. Cant kick too many or tackle much sitting in the stands !!
  7. Strangely enough I think not only would this be the case but I would suspect that as appreciation for not be duck shoved to where ever but having been valued by the club for his efforts he would repay back in spades with enthusiasm. Dawes is well respected at the club. ets use what abilities he has in a meaningful way. I suspect his remunerance might adapt though. Jaeger to me is a big risk. . Prestia seems a better get...just me...for the correct quantity of sheckles.
  8. Onya Jeffy . Go create havoc down the front you good Garlett you
  9. Not quite sure what youre saying . Trenners has ALREADY impressed. He just wont be selected this week.. I always thought he might be a chance to come in and replace some tired legs ( whatever ) after the NT game, which is Hawthorn I still think he 'might'
  10. I think come seasons end, should we perform at least as well as we have been, that we will be curiously entertained by a new dynamic coming into the equation. Some other club's players might actually want to join us. If our wagon is going a bit better than their's ( club ) or if not getting the games or whatever then a player may feel there's a niche he can carve out for himself with us. Not saying it WILL happen, but it might. This wouldnt have happen until fairly recently. Bernie being the trail blazer I feel.. Other may have watched with interest...or might start now. Going to quite fascinating for mine. I think Tom would be a nong to go, he just needs to reset his gyroscope to reality and get on with it. Id be very surprised if Goody wouldnt want to find a journey man to really make Full Back his.
  11. Hurley or Day are not replacements in my mind for Tmac..They would take the primary defender role and release Tom to do what he does better ( i.e the 2nd defender as it were ) I think he would be much better in this roie. If Tmac stays thats not a reason to not seek a Hurley or a Day etc.. The back needs a bit of sorting out. Weve got a couple of blooming half back flanks and a gem in Nifty Nev but there is still much re-jigging and personel hunting to go
  12. Meanwhile....talking about Prestia Who heads the queue for Dion Prestia's signature? some snippets..... "IF DION Prestia decides to leave Gold Coast, it is becoming increasingly clear he will join a Melbourne-based club that can offer him on-field success in the short-term and for the long-term. " "After six mostly success-starved seasons at Gold Coast, it's believed Prestia would not leave the Suns to join a team that is a few years away from contending. "As such, he would probably be wary of joining any team he perceived to be near the end of its premiership window. North Melbourne is widely thought to be in this position, while even Hawthorn seems to be finally feeling the effects of Father Time. " Welcome Dion your locker is over there >>>>>>
  13. This probably the new reality..player payment inflation
  14. I think the club understand what is required as contingency. I don't think we are desperate if T Mac goes to who steps up...who they go after . Indeed who they are probably already sounding out. TMac should understand he is not in the driver's seat here .
  15. why ?? Frost WAS a defender with eh Giants . He's shown he can understand the game down there. The point about reliance on Tmac must surely be about do we have options. ? yes/no It seems we're trying to build a defence thats based more about role playing than personel. Tommy is ok , hes not great ffs
  16. I can only surmise from the outside ....and taken all things with grains of salt etc . I get the idea a magnificent sense of camaraderie is building. That should not be under valued. These lads want to go all the way TOGETHER !!
  17. “I remember being almost in awe of how big he was and he was obviously an incredible athlete, so there was a bit of ‘I wish he was on my team and not playing against me’ back then.” dreams CAN come true go you good blokes
  18. missed this somehow but very pertinent. Imagine possibly Hurley and Frost.. Or May...etc...or...who ever. Thing is Mac wants to play realistic or its the door. Ill go silly and suggest the club know exactly what they will concede to $ wise and also how much gamesmanship they will accept from his management . Im not sure either are that bright to be honest ( not the club ) (caveat yes they both earn more than me...many do lol )
  19. Buddy is different. He was part of a marquis player thing to an outpost ( i.e Sydney ) when they needed an indentity player. No a same case scenario for mine.
