Jack, my observation is that we're far less effective when Max is off the ball, or off the boil.

I have wondered Dr

Tom McDonald needs to take a good hard look at himself.

Why. We have the temerity to ask questions ? Get real Ron -
If we have any sense well still be going hard after 3 or 4 players. Dion may only just be one of them.

NO, but if he still has a contract.......... -
hed need to be fit OD Get the Tiges to look him over first before he comes to us
-
If's everywhere. I wouldnt make Dion a priority either but my thinking is with the old Ess connections thingy we might snag Hurley. With the apparent connection to our glorious club and prior attempts interest ( both ways ) we could snare Dion therefore we might get both..Wouldnt do our list any harm
-
Hes good...probably far better than OK. He would walk into our 22 OD If his injuries are behind him and not too pricey...a good get
-
Denham must be away with the fairies Hurley can walk nice try Essendon...
-
might get a bit crowded in the mall
-
Ill put it out there...I think we're about the only club that could snag BOTH Hurley AND Prestia if we managed that ( alone ) in trade week we will be adjudged winners
-
Adam, I hope so

Red my guess is 4-6 also.. minimum dip in the draft and clever use of draft coin ( picks - trading etc ) to focus on snagging ready t go's in the franzy aka Trade week . Given Harris has paperwork through til end of next season he would seem to be safe for now, and depth only Players who might be a little concerned...just a s a list and ion no order M King , Terlich, Newton ,Grimes, M Jones Trade week could be fascinating -

On a good day ( and fit ) I like what he brings. He has a bit of flair, knows where the sticks are etc. I just wonder if he already been trumped ( sts ) ? Its starting to get a crowded in the forward arc. If we take Hogan and Watts as given. If we suggest Kent and Garlett also then there are two possies. One must be for that 2nd Tall imho. Leaving one. Until he builds a tank it has to be the Truck surely..Where does Harris get to slip in ? Thats the rub -
Adam.. I understand what youre saying and possibly I didnt quite frame the question thoroughly. I can see how we can beat some teams this way though I still question the logic of one effectual plan and worry over who is to carry it out. That aside, muy thinking is that some teams we'll beat with this...that goes to the 10-12, this year or otherwise. There are those teams who will best us if we stick staunchly to this ideal simply because they are more experienced and talented, hence where does the other 5-6 come from ? We need a style(s) of play that can beat teh other team in the grand final. If we havent beaten them to get here is all seems rather moot .
-
Adam it may well at some point win you 10-12 How then do we win another 5-6 ?
-
I know I am at odds with some modern elements. So be it but a basic problem in my view with an ideal of this defence is that you're hoping often to deny the oppos fwd much option once he has the ball. Anyone else see the flaw here ?
-
Of course we do.First principals of war go to elements of surprise and presenting a camouflaged outline. If we keep doing the same thing continually without any variation or change we'll get beaten, by our OWN game. People carry on about this and that or such and such is over rate. The Pups invariably had Stringer right smack in the middle of the diamond as they collected on a turnover or clearance. Tell that was purely coincidental.
-
In what Utopia do turnovers not occur. ? Is part of the game. Chess is variable and has any number of outcomes but its clinical. Pieces cant do anything other than the rules allow. Footy is governed by the shape of the ball. So much can happen despite the best of plans. Footy is sporting chaos theory in practice. You cant come at it with an neatly boxed style. It will be your undoing every week.

It's how it looks to me. There is some merit in perseverance, but I dont get why it's an absolute with little possibility of also playing other styles. Al that will happen is an opposition will work out who to target and how to break teh defense all the whiles knowing the Coaching Day Gurus will do SFA !! Giving it to them on a plate...wtf
