As this seems a more 'overview' thread..and since ariseing to the land of the sober this morning many comments regarding the specifics are covered fairly well in the '"particular" threads. Now Im not sure about yo all but often whenat a game I wil sometimes watch a particualr player or two in isolation for a while..and other times just watch the whole thing as an entirity. By that how the big monster that is a team is working ( or not ) Things noticed yesterday. This wasnt the same team surely that lay down against the Sainters ?? do we swab them ?? lol Intensity up..and workrate up.. many wil say "surely the same thing" ..maybe I should describe it as "PRODUCTIVITY " up. i.e more seemed to happen. There were more atmpts to shepherd. But whomever is teaching this craft..needs to furhter the cause with more lessons. Some just dont quite get it ( to me ) Sheperding is more than attempting to take out a path..its denying on-,moves..like in chess. There is more to sheperding than many realise. I noticed the passing to contest was done with more 'belief' ...now we just need to do it with more "SKILL" Pin point passing is just that.. kicking it to a spot..not spots..or area..its to a definite place. Too many times the idea was there but ball overshot or fell short handing a turnover to the filth. Sometimes when telling a joke my daughter wil say" Gone too far Dad !!" i.e I should have exited a line or two earlier. This is what the team does often in handballing. Many an occasion there are one or two give offs more than needed.. before it was kicked. The close in work is much better.. just need to know when to kick. The forward line: Be good to have one probably. How often was that bal lbeing brought down and practically NO ONE was at teh sharp end. Many times teh ball got to or near the fifty and no options at all toward teh hot spots. is this Mahoneys area ?? Mate step up..this is woeful!! Absolutely no organisationdown this end..and its where it ounts..all that hard work goes down the tubes time in time out. Some players need to learn to lower their vision. All too often onthe rare occasions someone does get into position..its ignored.. Id rather a mundane goal anyday compared to a HERO point !! Now this is picky.but when switching across ..do we need to do so quite so laterally ..Last week was beter in a fashion..it went more diagonally..unfortnately too far each time and landed in the dead flank. Keep it shorter like yesterday.. but more diagonal. Its results in a forward movement by stealth...often the difference of 30-40 m which is a possession pass equivalent. There is more..but some still seems blured...lol

Vanlo, I was thinkig ( this morning when I could..lol ) that this struck me too. There wasnt a real chasm between the teams . Not that I saw. Yet..they used opportunities ..we threw them away.. There was a win there for the taking had we kicked straight

Id be worrying about why despite al lteh facilites ( and thensome ) YOU cant coach a team to a flag ?? Why not Mick ?? Or is it the fault of all the other teams, they have the wrong motivations ? There is a skerrrick of truth in that we do seem focused on the wrong thiongs, hopefully this will change as a new culture permeates but in the meantime Mr Malthouse, Id worry about your own abilities and backyard before instructing others !! This is in a sense the core of my misgivings. We are to suppose he is indeed media aware..possibly even savvy. if this is the case then surely he would be only too aware of not only the interest and disquiet that 'his move' would stir but that he ought to handle it with kid gloves and give no grounds for misunderstanding or any reason for doubting. If this was his directive...then this is the first balls up!! As an exercise of media guidance its an abject failure. Strangley we are sponsored by the Aged..and in all reality they gave very little coverage to the whole thing. Sheez...if this is how our allies treat us...then we may have some stormy days ahead. Look I fully hope Stynes does have a plan..even more I hope it is encompassing and finds favour leading to success. I actually want it all to work, whatever it is. But is would be rather nice to know just what that is. On the surface ists a nicey nicey handover.. or it could be read as a very amatuerish effort at management. I fervently hopee as some allude if not deride me to observe..that its a brouhaha about nothing. I thought as members we might command more respect from the club. Hopefully the Team Stynes Brigade will do us al a favour and start colouring in the book youre obviously fond of and provide some flesh to the vacuous grandstanding at present. He waits ? thats respect ?? This has all been orchestrated and played out BEFORE the big night. well if there is a plot to all this..I for one would like to know what is actually going on. Ok..as youre obviously challenged This has been brewing for a while. It has picked up speed all the past fortnight. In this last week he ( Stynes ) has allowed it to become common knowledge that he will assume the mantle. He has been interviewed by the Herald. Obviously something has been colluded as its an exclusive. Stynes is no nong . He wil have briefed the H-S on what he intends etc etc. He would have had ssome say in what the nature of the article was about. Its been touted on media that in teh exclusive liftout this Sunday Stynes will reveal his plans on saving the Dees The headline ( yes he doesnt write htem..very astute of you ) would have been run by him as part of the exclusive. So we have all the road signs..and then nothing !!

In the headline..you can read? Its says..quite plainly..How I will save the Dees...then tells nothing

MCB..whlist most of us would like to see a bit of competiveness from the lads and certainly an improvement by the kids but i dont think anyone wants us really to win another game. Dont sweat it

Well thinkig I must have missed something as I read all available on line at the Herald..I succombed and got the old fashioned version. I I pais my money happily enough , got home, coffee made and sat down to read the news. The news we'd all heard via the media.. how Jimmy Stynes is going to save the club, to read of his vision to undersatand and hop on board the way forward. Well even after two cups I couldnt find it. Just a lot of air written by journos ..absolutely no substance. Now I know that cant be the manifesto of the great man. I do rate Jimmy. A great clubman whose credentials as a Demon no one could question. We also hear of his success in other fields. He is for all arguments a top bloke and so it was with great interest i was curious to see his idea of the way forward. I'm still none the wiser. Did I miss something? Did my paper have a section missing ? Now I know there surely has to be more to it thab this..but what is it ?? Anyone know ?? I just want to understand..is that too much

I dont think we will lose the QBW fixture.. I think its just another poorly concieved , foot in mouth-ism from Fonzy. In a way I agree..if we couldnt get 60000 to this game then we ought to give it away. .But we will, we always are likely to. Its a nothingness type utterenmce from AD. As the article implied.. recruiters don tmake their decision now..they are just watching.. Be interesting to see what they al decide on come later in the year. Going to a very influential draft this year inst it. We cant afford to get this wrong.or even half right, we have to nail it.

sorry..how could I doubt W-Jacka !! ffs You either Heritage list a physical entity..and then it has a certain protection regarding change..or you can recognise list an Organisation. At last we get to see what the great man's vision is and how he hopes we'll get there. Ought to be interesting reading .

Something I dont quite get is the abhorent inconsistency not only in the stance he takes acording to which fox he is hunting with...or which hare he lined up in his sights but the blatant stupidity which surrounds some of the schemes hatched at AFL house. Now Fonzy loves to spruik the 'bi picture' . He trundles out his scare campaign regarding the 'enemies' the competitors to the average Joes purse strings. yes..the dark side !! So in order to abate this fiendish scurge and rightfully place AFL at the pinacle of all obseved things its the plan of Fonzy & Friends to establish in to the New Frontiers. Now on the surface. There is nothing untoward about this. And I can to a point conced that it is relatively important for the game to have presence in these markets. Thing is..to some degree we already do . So its not about establishing something in preference to nothing its about "product Placemetn" ..about market share at any cost etc. Cost it will too. There is the direct copst to the AFL in establishing these teams and the ongoing marketing and subsidy ( to the tune of many many Millions ) as they get up and running. Well I suppose if this is going to happen ..well it is. Then there are the indirect costs. There are the sacrifices to teh exisitng constituents in terms of player availablility, the loss of players in authorised and condoned poaching and teh probably loss of some prefernces regarding timetabling of certain games, all to the benefit of the new insurgents. Supposedly some of this is countered with a forecast gain to central revenue via TV rights and yet no one can guarantee this. Some pundits indeed suggest its only diluting the pool, not adding to it. OK..if we accept that all this MUST happen. Then lets look at the basis of reasoning given by our illustrious Fury. It is to maintain and expand the status quo of the game in a continuingly changable market and environment. Again all good and well on the surface. We step back a few moments and observe that the AwFuL was happy to pack the Doggies off to the western burbs of northern climes, right until the Political forces that almost rival Fonzies came to bear and offered a lot of pork to sate the rabble. Cross the Doggies off the list of endangered species Next..that ratbag shinboning lot. Ahh they are in strife.. and so the Jackels and Vultures encircle to feast upon the carcass. That it help pass by any attention that a truly southern state might have as aspiritions as well as deflecting from strange goings on in Squawk Land didnt hurt the cause. So off go the Fury and little bro Angry gleefully cackling and salivating agape towards that favourite of theirs ...the nasty nasty Demons.. why wont they just go..they tried Buffy...Muffy and even Scruffy...but hang around like an unwanted pet they did. But..is any of this really necessary. if we take a feather out of the AFL's own agenda, that of shoring up new areas or bolstering exisitn then surely its not too much to throw a few sheckles at a mob who want to grow a new fronteir. A million new folks over 10 years in an outer realm of an exisitng region cant be that much to pay to protect the back door as it were.. The AFL is prepared to spend in the order of 20 million apiece ( and thats only what they admit to ) to establish the GC and WS teams. The AFL has for years been complicent to dealings that only served to undermine their oldest club. Is it too much to suggest they might say throw 5 million towards teh protectio of thegame in the burgeoning area that is the NEW multicultural exapanse that is everything East of Dandenong ?? The AFL could be smart and for a relativley small figure make not only a whole new bunch of friends, but actually do what its supposed to do and work for the clubs....not against them !! Not only that but it would rid itself of a perceived scourge...as we would cease beign a thorn but instead be its gem !!
