The essential thing about al this is..there are TWO issues. 1) is he any good and can he become better and 2) is he tradable ? to 1) yes he is ..and hopefully does to 2) of course he can..anybody can!!

With all due respect Suzanna..thast not quite a realistic appraisal.. if you wanna talk trains.. Im up for it !! Where ever you move the terminal to becomes the EOL...you can however still call Cranbourne the effective EOl and run out as per normal ..except you you send them off in the opppsosite direction to start..they then return anc continue as per normal. Such workings , or similar wok fine on the Belgrave and Hurstbridge lines. This in itself is not a problem. Finding paths ( times in tietables ) isnt either as the headways on this line are wel lbelow saturation. ( a very simplified explanation..but will do for here..lol ) As to the track..much of the real work would be in the right of way allignments and subroadbeds.. These are already done and in place..just need a workover as you mention. This is not big..more work in doing original r-o-w works. Reactivating the crossing requirtes a bit of work..not nothing unknown etc. Just a matter of doing..Works can be done in 3 days ( actually 3 nights)..for the level crossing. Any works for a line to WPB are totally about a different casue ( and wil actuall be a different guage)..Irrelevant.. your Lib fellow isnt too well informed then..still who of them are ?? lol I'll bet ya a slab that Cranbourne East ( Casey Fields ) will be back on the agenda come next election. Wanna talk trains.. or shall we return to the football ?

Many salient points.. some realistic others..a bit too Demon-centric Whenever we are ajudicating the whys and wherefores of any of our players, it probably makes sense to compare against hte AFL benchmark players.. not our own team. People..we finished 16th..its hardly the yardstick is it ??

Just address a short email to [email protected] attn Martin ( Marketing ) Doesn't have to be long.. just say exactly what you have. The more the better

perhaps ???

Jones is young.. and dare I say been a bit overwhelemed this year. Its indeed a credit to him that he has weathered this. Ulimately though its his proess on the field..thats all..nothing else. He DOES have the foundation upon which to hone. He needs more feathers in his cap when it comes to disposal..both of type..and demaeanor If he develops these traits he'll be a fabulos player for us..at present though he ( to me ) is just another nuggety dime a dozen average midfielder. Happy to see how he continues to grow as a player.. happy to trade him ..like any opther player if it benefits the team to do so.

The point is WW..and yes..we'll talk NJ here.. ( lol ) is you asctually want pace..and better than averga ekicking out of a mid fielder. Harvey is very creative with foot..not long..but very good. His vision makes Jones look a bit in the Bocelli/Wonder league !! Viney and Lovett played in a much slower era. Leadership is wonderful..just great..we need more leaders of a losing team

There is a ground swel lto get the line not only opened to Casey..but indeed as far as Tooradin. That will probably do it.. way down the line if the rest of line reopens it will be in similar fashion to the Stoney Point in terms of extra services via DRC etc. yep..its been promised for some time, Cranbourne East etc..A political football for sure.. It wil be a neceesity inside of five years..and there is an election before that. The "other" lot would have built italready had they got it. Such is life..Its not there..but as the ad says..It will happen..just not overnight. Its not a huge infrastrucure build.. its only a tart -up and reactivation really..easy peasy..Just needs the politcal will. In mean time buses will probably cope for some crowds till they build Whats temporary ? We are signing on to train there for decades...still in teh context of the eons odf time..I suppose its only a blink huh !! Trees take time to take root and grow..Melb is not looking at any gains from this investment as an onvernight bonus. Hmm..wrong area ?? You might want to talk to the DOI and Real Estate Institute about that So do we Go Scorps !!

Clint !! Another of the "burst onto the scene in blazing glory only to fade to grey ( for whatever reason) " As a club we have this down pat dont we A victim of injury and restrict preparations this year he will certainly have to show something to warrant his maintenance on the list. The plus for him...is he is far from alone add another to the "its all in the preseason brigade " !!

:D

Thanks Bazza..have enjoyed your insights and reads. Hope all goes well with new lot next year...( not too well of course:) ) As said..an era passes..an era begins !!

The problem with this is.. in past years this might have had a chance to fly better, but given the ultra value of early picks this year and next it adds a different weight. Green might get a 2nd round pick...on a good day now. We may extract more with a 'bundling' package of some sorts. Green will most likely end up staying. .but it may not be the most harmonious episode. still all offers entertained.

A glowing reference for sure Highly sought after attributes Jones has his upside as pointed out.. But will it be enough in the the great context of going forward. We seem to have more than a few "handy " players...with a little bit etc. We need more players with the lot. Character is one thing...and admirable for sure.. Ability and effectiveness is the deliverable currency though !
-
No..we will just sit around twindling our thumbs..waiting for the tea and lamingtons !! In the event we dont get Warnock..we will OF COURSE look to others. The name of the game is you use your picks..wherever..to get teh best possible players..available at that moment..in that place. there is also the option of rookie-ing someone passed overin teh draft also.... Who's better ?? quite a few players with games.. doesnt mean they might get that 71st game..they may have been found wanting..admittedly 70 games is a long while to have this occur..but !! Again..its who's better. Does teh experience of the 70 gamer outweigh the ability ( if un realised) of the kid ? Again..it will come down to what we need..at that time..and what's available There is NO easy answer to any of this...when we can see names on lists..( drafts) much more will make sense.
-
No you only trade to better your position...if such a trade was on the table that enable us to do so and Jones was part of it.. why wouldnt you..?? some people just keep people for keepings sake
-
In order to use these qualities in a premiership win...you actually need to be in one..a Premiership..well, Grand Final that is. In order to get there...you need a whole bunch of other attributes, currently Jones'y isnt topped up with those. He need to put some serious hours into spped building and greater awareness of option when in play. ( acknowledged..he's not alone here ) There are times I certainly cant argue with this view, however whilst physical intensity might add some kudos.. eventaully its only scoreboard impact that speaks. This is not to say its up to Nathan..but he needs to be more involved in better play. That wil be much more credible. Yep, he can keep doing this by all means..but needs to add more damaging dimensions with consistency. The reality is the team needs all players to improve..including Nathan. Otherwise no one is hanging a medal aroud their necks come September. Unfortuhantely being honest in your efforts on the footy field ( at AFL level ) is a distant cry from being devistatingly effective !!!

No more Sydney home finals: Demetriou
beelzebub replied to The Great Pretender's topic in Melbourne Demons
Still in all seriousness..It will be very interesting to gauge any REAL responses by the AFL to the Sydney scene. Dont hold your breath for any honesty though....it will be all spin , spin , SPIN!! Ought to be rather interesting to see if any of the legit and recognizable footy press have anythign to say about the AFL's stance on such a blind and misjudged push ( at all costs ) into Sydney before the real base is in place. -

Oh Dear...Oh Dear...OH DEAR !! Pooooooorr Vlad...Pooorrrrrrrr VLADDDDD !! He...hasnt mis read the Sydney scene has he ??..cant be.. Not our Vlad !! In all honesty it was absolutely rubbish weather, but possibly Vlad hadnt researched properly ( fancy that ) A cold hard dose of reality versus you very skeweed view on football I'd suggest there son !! Tsk Tsk Tsk ...its not the people's fault Vlad..and its a bit rich of yoourslef getting all in a tiz. This is just the the Football Gods talking to you..and telling you youve got it wrong !! Instead of venting and raving...try Listening !! -
well..theres a little blue on Gazza's cap to match the obligatory Blue boardies !!!
-
Im sorry..is that yor actual argument to keep?? just curious. Keep in mind...promising..and delivering..may be two different things He now needs to back up some good work and step up a level... yes step up.. where he's at wont do us any good no matter how many rosey glasses are issued !!..thats just a reality of footy
-
The irony of that..even if not a direct swap..certainly an effective result...one in..one out hadnt escaped me the karma gods at work... <_<
-
aye...there be the rub !!! Can even Macca do #1 justice..?? point taken. Keep in mind the Melb that Jones is in is nothing like the Weagles that Kerr played in for years !! We all need to remember..despite any excuses ( soe valid..) that in a 16 team comp...we came 16th !!! judge much of what any in the team do...by that!!
-
I have no problem with trading Brad...actually I have no problem with trading anyone. it all comes down to relevance, value and team balance. I also have no problem in keeping Brad. Its simply what is best for the team over all..and in view of going forward into a 'different" environement for the forseeable future ( If you can see more than 4 years ahead youre doing very well and btw, what are next Sat lotto numbers ?? ) Bailey is continually quoted as beleiving in you th and the draft.. to quote the mfc site: However.. there is nothing in this to suggest the opposite..that he wouldnt trade a Senior player for another wel positioned draft pick !!
-
Obviously a lot is going to rest on how "others" pull up and go next next year. Seems he cant hold the #1 spot himself. Dont throw stats up...they are worth exactly the pixels they take up..apparently anything that doesnt get you buried is claimed as "good" . Again..hes a good 2nd hit up centre.. but we really need to take the team to another level. Does Nathan offer this potential?? Im not at all sure he does. Only too happy to be shown this is an eroneous perception. Only too happy. Jones IS far more creative with tehe ball than Bell..if ws a choice..Id choose Jones to fill a posiiton ahead of Bell. A little less atention on a flank..and more space might suit him ( NJ) Going to be very interesting how they shape up in preseason. Casey here we come

mate am happy for the club to write the cheque.. or maybe we could get as high as pick 90 for him
