Cloke and Collingwood - to part or not to part?

The actuality of any Cloke ambush must surely weigh upon the idea he actually is going anywhere. I very much doubt it. This is all really a hypothesis encumbant upon the nuisance that is his father. Eddie and co will get a deal done as they always seem to. Ill call it now...Cloke will sign at Collingwood for around 800-825 pa for 4 years.(3.3 over 4 ) Ink will hit paper within a month.........just watch. -
You assume such honouring will be limited to this ?? Maybe, probably not. I have no doubt the MFC will award suitable acknowledgemnts where ever appropriate and able.

Cloke and Collingwood - to part or not to part?

We only know of Cloke because of his fathers ego. Are we attempting to develop a potent winning team or just a 'collection' of talent ? This year introduces free agency. There will be a trade period whos like we have never witnessed before. Personally id be making a beeline for Goddard. Theres one we do know will be up for grabs, just by way of example. Stick Brendon in the guts...put Viney and others around him and watch the scoreboard light up. I have no doubt other potential goodies will appear as season comes to a close. -
Cloke and Collingwood - to part or not to part?

Which particular part of cake and eat it too shall i focus on ?? Un;like a cart which you just garage and depreciate whilst doing nothing...Im sure Cloke would want to be paid...and played. Again ...would Clark and Cloke take turns at macrame on the bench whilst the rest of the team catches up. You agree the mid is the priority...well thats where we go first. -

How?? We draft a few..its always hit and miss ( for all clubs) as to who really comes on and when. You have the lag effect. it takes 50-75 games to get motors running and tuned ( rare, very rare otherwise ) Yes Viney will help...thats help...not cure. But lets get Cloke ( great p[layer no doubt ) and have millions tied up in a handful of players having a picnic waiting for the ball!! Brilliant. Nobel stuff...honestly. The draft and the resulting delivery is a longer term issue. We need to invigorate the midlfiled....like NOW. or nextbest... Next season. Which means trade or buy ( via free agency etc ) Im certainly not saying Cloke is not a very useful player, for he certainly is. Hes just not the solution to OUR particular problem -

ahh..well....they're probably all lining up over at Arden St presently waiting their turn to lay their loafers in. Roos are the new boys to be kicked. -
A fitting tribute to a inspirational yet humble man. We could all do worse than walk a while in his path.

Cloke and Collingwood - to part or not to part?

So we just have gun forwards hanging around waiting for this Mythical miidfield 'develop' do we. ? Bit like getting in a cab, meter goes on and we park !! I as it happens think Trenners will become a very useful mid and a great leader. Jonesy is a go getter ( but withot the polish, might have one day, might not ) Beamer seems better suited elsewhere now. Vineyis the great hope, but will take a while to really get going at the elite level. We cant pin all on him or the others. We need an already developed game able mid to settle and power the midfield. This gives us options whether it be setup or injury etc. Persoannly Id rather take some of our money to secure the likes of Russian and anyone else worthy of resigning. Take whatever's left in the war chest and go buy a really good mid. A working and potent midfield will feed the likes of Clark, Howe, Jurrah, Garland/Watts. Chuck in the likes of Cook, Green ( though not for much longer one suspects ) Slyvia, Davey, Martin ...Petterd etc and we do have goal kickers....what we dont have is an abundance of supply. Pound the forward 50 with input and the scoreboard WILL tick over. Loading up the forward line with expensive guns is tantemount to putting the cart before the horse....imho -

Anything can be justified in a hindsight methodology if a flag eminates. Problem is you cant guarantee such going forward. You need to take wise and balanced approaches to your shortcomings.. if you were to do a simple break up , forward , mid and back then the weakest link is without doubt our midfield performance. We HAVE forwards who can play. They are on a meagre rations bread and water diet currently as a result of a very ordinary and hit and miss midfield. Quite honestly anyone who thinks ours is in the top 8 of the the league is smoking something. An in form and potent midfiled not only powers the drive in the forward 50 but it contains the pressure on our backs. A double whammy, which also has reverse effect when not working. Evidence...well just look at our performances to date.. So many want to tart up the car without giving it a really decent running mechanism....foolhardy. if the car aint got no grunt it aint going anywhere no matter how schmick it looks. Translation. We dont need more forwards......well not before the engine is attended to....then do what you like. We currently have NO ball breaking game busting midfilelders. We have some who on their day can be adequate but hardly fuse-lighting. Who here doesnt understand the game is won or lost in the nidfield ? -
Is this a case of One step back, Two steps forward ( for a change !! )

Some people are possibly miscontruing negativity with reality...or priority. Timing is everything. -

Just because some exist for mine doesnt equate to any overwhelming desire to replicate.Too much can change in 5 years. -

it seems odd that anyone is even entertaining the notion of ANY player for 5 years. A lot can go wrong in 5 years. Wouldnt go past 4 ...even thats dicey. -
strangely my first thoughts also. lol... must be a cynic too.All a little bit too Shakespearean possibly

some salient clarity on the subject from article "“My own form hasn’t been great, but I can’t change that now - all I can do is look forward to Monday’s game and play like I did on Saturday night.” Now this is either enlightening or confusing..lol I hope he simply means he cant change whats past..... As he can certainly change whats future. Happy to have an in form Beamer. Strong legs on the HFF can be very effective. I'll just watch for now. Funny how the Managers utilise spin.
