From where I sit there is an aspect to th ewhole of this year that will and ought to affect the view we have of not only Cale but all the players. 2012 is a trial.....a trial by scrutiny and accountability. I sense Neeld is effectively putting everyone through the mill and seeing who is doing what and how. Cale is no exception to this. hes been tasked and tested. Some will be familiar territory and a lot wont. So we can excuse him and many for some errors if the 'plan' isnt working as a whole out there on the ground. What he ought not be forgiven for is blatant poor footy. Costly turnovers and brain fades are just poor footy. You either have footy smarts or youdont. This is about skills and general talent, no, this is about producing something that contributes to a teams ability to win games. Ive yet to see it from Morton. . he does a few little things but theres no cohesion to his football....a shame.

Ive often accuses this lad of being right there for effort and has more than a little ability and talent but lacked polish. I can detect a bit of a shine this year, not blindingly sparkling...but hes gone up a notch. Well done

I too wasnt endeared to ol Jared. But he is playign a lot better than many his junior. I have always considered his forte his ability to read play. He , for mine , has been a poor decision maker in disposal and in my view been a major culprit in coughing it up down the track ..i.e kicking to poor targets..or straight to opposition. This seems to have been curtailed to some extent. His role somewhat redefined...or rather simply...'defined" Seems a tad quicker this year also. He needed to find this as he was getting run off far too easily. Im still not sure where he'll place next year on the ground. But credit whhere its due. Hes putting in and thats far more than some of his brethren

He could just as easily be traded.. Now some will arc up with...for what value,might as well keep him. He either has any value or he doesnt. He might well be more suited to another clubs forward vision than ours.Dont assume he naturally will remain at Melbourne. All jobs in red and blue are now to be earnt. Thats the Neeld doctrine. Some times assetts are written down and sold cheap....thats business

Hers a simple rule. If you are deemed fit to play...play If you are not fit enough to do so, then convalesce and regain your fitness, then play. Put the jumper on gameday...then your fair game for scrutiny If hes not up to it then he ought not be out there, that he is out there suggests otherwise.

As has often been pointed out on these baords and highlighted no end of time. Cols issues are between his ears.. Dont you lot go and start hanging excuses on this or that now. He may well be restiricted in some manner ( as are many players ) through a lack of 100% injury free fitness but once youre over that whote line you better bloody well give 100% and 100% of the time. Thats their f'n job !! Col is lazy...simply as.. A grossly talented player who just cant be stuffed doing it hard all the time. Even if he played at 75% ..for 50% of the game hed be a very valuable and influential player but he just doesnt seem to be able to muster even that. Its annoying...and he gets paid for it....more annoying.

What I find almost luiaghable about all this is one bloke misses a punch and glances across the back of a player..and all up in arms Players are constantly whacked in the lower back or jabbed in guts as niggling prior to bounces etc...nothing is ever done really. total hypocrisy

I think the solution is already at hand. You get the wobbles and fluff , youre game getting shakey then ifs a gig in the magoos to sort it out and get your mojo back.

I have no problem whatsoever if a player gets a spray. Invariaby theyve earnt it. They can shove rockets up their bums and strap jets to their arms...make them wlk on coals for all i really care. Think though.. what transpired. .. Was Morton being picked on.. ? No.. He was tasked with a job, that was/is to folow instructions, the coach's instructions. You dont dothis, you will cop it. He obviously failed to do this and it would seem its somethingthat had been previously highlighted to him (as a shortcoming, error etc ) and he hadnt heeded the good advice of his boss. erto...a right royal bollocking was in order........and delivered........and we move on. Not all players will survive this remodellign of the club. that just IS. I sense Cale will be one ( that doesnt ) And you know what I couldnt really care a toss as all players are just a part of a bigger picture...the TEAM...our team and if it isnt working properly I want the club to exercise every ability in rectifying in. I just want an able and competitive team , ultimatelly successfyul but dont care whos wearing the jumpers in order to achieve this. Why actually does it matter. it seems the club has invested much time, patience and resources ( let alone money ) into Cale and its just not gelling. I have no personalanimisityat all towards Cale. He has skills, he has talent, he just doensnt seem to be at teh level and ability required to fulfil the requirements of a team member of a SUCCESSFUL Melbourne. So he either becomes one or is replaced. Simple isnt it. Time wise...surely he must be close to exhausting his time credits.
