I think the error of your stance is the tying of an early pick to being only thatof compensation.We have an event..Its the changing of the F/S rules. It may or may not cause us to use a high pick. Its not happened yet. You also have the issue of compensation for which we got 4 and 13. If the father son issue forces us to use a high pick its actually pick 3...not 4 as it happens. So neither of the comp picks are used for that purpose. Whats happend is weve been forced to use a higher pick than historically required. Its a separate issue but yor making it one. we wont have had a comp pick nullified we will simply have had to use a higher pick than wed prefer. You can have it possibly as they say... All circles are round, but not all rounds are circles !! There is a subtle difference in all of this, but t difference no less.

yep..and it is because much is out of our hands we just watch and wait.if no one bids.. we smile and walk away if some one does , we cough up. We dont have to make the first move. many will need to consider what are the motives and benefits of the variously involved clubs at this time of year. Number ONE priority...get the very best for your own club Numbers 2 though about 10...get teh very best for you own club Screwing another club tospite your face ?? Not sure its a priority at all. So in this vein. What are the scenarios? They are formed around what GC and GWS want as best returns for their own needs. all else follow this

Not too shabby. But somehow in some folks calculations if we spend a high pick on Viney its overs/waste of a Scully pick....yet at the same timeif we use it on another its fine. Any which way a player will cost you a pick and any way you want to calculate it our compo is still 4th and 13th. Some weird maths out there

Scully could be signed ( arguably illegally timewise ) as part of the GWS concessions setup that the AFL handed it. Forget for the money, about the scullduggery and lying etc.. the mechanism was there. Ball.. was a gambit. An established player who had also had a mechanism to go to his desired club. We sort of bailed on it but in real terms he had it worked out.Well done him. May I just ask how you could see that panning out. The only way he could then get to the club of his choice is effectively through trade. If he walked into the PSD( or draft ) he would be snapped up by the first taker. GC would know he only wants to go to Melbourne and in their deservedly so [censored] off state would hold us to ransom...again.He either comes to Melbourne or he doesnt. Id prefer he does. Its hardly paying overs to have to use 3 if we had to. its not like this is the only gun recruit we are about to bring to the club. Oct 8 will reveal all

Everyone thats saying he can simply come back after 2 years..Why would we wait. It will cost us as much then as now to secure him. GC wouldnt just hand him up. After 2 years in the system and more than likely a gun, he'll cost. (probably more Why not simply admit this , pay up if we have to and have the benefit of having him now, have others around him enjoying it too. Im sick and tired of planning for 2-3 years down the track by playing with some swap card mentality collecting picks etc. Picks etc are there to be used. ,not collected and banked as such, theyre the coin of the football realm.
