I actually think this is very much central (npi) to where we may heading with all this. Yes, the midfield is where it's at ( unless we're talking about the other areas lol ) In our stellar 21 season we were not just a good contested side but we had reasonable success at central clearances. Fast forward 23... not so much. We struggle to go bang, let alone bang bang....bang. Our central work is often stifled.. Olivers effectiveness has been curbed in many games because of tags. He's still outstanding but our overall efficiency is way down. We have depth on the inside but our outside game leaves a lot for improvement. I can see now how a Reid might change that. An irony perhaps is Clarrys absence opened a new chapter. Gave us a look at a slightly different Melbourne. Its not how any player performed or contributed in 21 ( or 22/23 ) it's going to be about how the club sees us playing in 24 >>>> .. and who is needed to do so. Clarry may very well be part of that picture....but maybe he's not. We bemoan our FD for not embracing change...as other clubs do. A number of changes are being thrust upon us....and just maybe there's a few we're still to add to that list. We either evolve or get left behind. Interesting days ahead. Be curious to whats said by whom....( or not ) as this pans out. He may be just going .... nowhere. We'll see soon enough I suspect.

I Dont think anyone is ( truly) Those are events having occurred yet not flavour of the cake presently before us. What WAS may not be NOW.. or it might. Point being as they say in finance, past performance may not indicate future. The flip side being ..... not quite as effective since. Now that might improve..or may not. Totally valid qualifiers. Trees survive because they bend and adapt.. Rocks can fall or crack. I would think it bodes well to be adeptly adaptive. Whatever is best holistically for the club.... IS the BEST outcome imo.

As such i agree... but thats not where we are. I can think of many players at many clubs I'd pick as a 'made up' before Oliver. I still don't attach either much voracity or credibility to it ( the murmurings ) ... but it's an odd choice...no ? He's had some issues this year.. not all happy snaps and perhaps thats where it stems?? Doing the Devils work again... whats more important "A" bloody good mid ( we have a few )... or a bloody good kpf ??? Of which we have none. Again...listening costs nil.

Im going to again offer a counter view. If as you suggest Oliver is untouchable.. no one would have enquired. Somewhere... someone... has let a door crack open. No one asks about Max, Trac or Jack... but strangely there's a story surrounding Clarry. Think about that.

Am going to proffer a different view. Whilst essentially Clarry you would think is a no go area... is he ? Is anyone ?? The club should ( due diligence) listen. It may then choose to laugh, guffaw...or ponder. Im not for one moment putting him up for trade. But listening doesn't cost. Oliver is rare, dare i say unique. But we did cope. Nothing is carved in stone. Maybe Oliver might take note.

Mr Chook.. im a bit if a Tmac convert. Thought he should have been considered more often for games ( and perhaps was ) Alas.. he's cooked. His greatest asset imho was his tank and ability to get to contests in a timely / effective manner ....but he's lost a yard. He's sorta a nearly there version of his prior self. Ok for magoos...gets found out at the top level. A marvellous servant of our club... but the bell looms i reckon.

Ah..i see. Cheers Personally not a fan of throwing everything into #1. Would rather a handful of promising talent.. Greater chance imho of finding a couple of handy players. Reid will be good...so will others.
