  1. Had a shocking year. Disposal was shoddy, inability to close down on an opponent, lacked intensity. Still, valued member of the team and I live in fear of him (or N Jones) leaving at the end of 2015 as a free agent.
  2. personally, would love this kid. someone who watches all this sort of stuff rates him the second best player in the under 18s this year, just behind petracca. son of a gun, and a brownlow medallist at our club, to boot. what did he miss out on being available to us by, about 13 games?
  3. Why not? Makes sense to me - they are in desperate need of key position players. Pick 3, come on down.
  4. It says a lot about where we are at that a reject midfielder from fellow strugglers in his mid 30s who missed a swathe of games with a busted leg still finished in our top 5 at the b&f. He's an absolute professional and natural footballer. Plus he looks like the actor who plays Stannis Baratheon.
  5. someone mentioned that apparently it's been mentioned in dispatches that clark plus watts for blair, lumumba and pies' 2nd rounder is a possibility. my response: doesn't solve our myriad of midfield issues.
  6. Only runs one way. Can't defend. Can't kick to a target. Hopeless when not in possession. The mind would boggle if another club traded for him rather than simply waiting for him to be delisted.
  7. Reminds me of Dane Swan - waddles effectively from contest to contest and does not look like he is terrified of the contest, which is something at least.
  8. but it's my happy place!
  9. yep, remember that. it was so exciting to have a player who attacked like that. but unfortunately that side of his game seems to have fallen away in the last couple of seasons and his disposal is just so, so bad.
  10. One of a myriad of players in our side who simply cannot kick the football. We have recruited a succession of softies who supposedly have great skills but can't make it in afl as they're terrified and a bunch of honest triers who can't make it in afl as they're hopelessly inept. McKenzie definitely falls in the latter category.
  11. Have always been a fan since he tore Hawthorn a new one as a forward in 06. Very happy to see him settled into a key position role. Touch wood, but he seems durable and dependable. Never going to be a star, but just an honest goer.
  12. Really expected him to come in this year - was under the assumption he was a better kick than Terlich.
  13. I don't think anyone is expecting them to offer pick 1. But pick 19 is a very real possibility for SOS, meaning we'd have to use pick 20. Either way , we will know in about three weeks.
  14. Not gonna happen. It's all our own fault and we should be grateful for existing at all and propping up the really big clubs as they strive for premierships and we attempt to merely survive.
  15. Agreed red leg, it's just pathetic - we are continuing to be pillaged. But if we request help? Nah, don't deserve it - we've only got ourselves to blame!
  16. Hopefully in the Gazelle days!
  17. collingwood is the big rumour according to pretty much everyone.
  18. finally, we have a youngster who's able to come in and make an immediate impact! admittedly had two years in the system, but he had a fresh energy to him that was irresistible. his ability to extract the ball is simon black-like, and his love of a goal makes him the sort of threatening midfielder that we've been crying out for for a long, long time. he's going to be a weapon for us if he can maintain fitness and we get some support for him and jones in the middle.
  19. i think ross the boss's reference to chasing the 'right free agents' is classic buyer's regret over getting col. and absolutely they should be targetting chip. their defensive stocks are a worry. their forward stocks are a worry. their midfield is silk.
  20. Sadly Gaz has three teenage boys and not one of them plays.
  21. All in all, it's safe to say he had a disappointing year.
  22. Chris Scott on Chip via abc radio - we want him at Geelong for "a number of reasons", primarily rate him as a player and for his flexibility.

  24. just a flat out ordinary recruit. flabbergasted that we picked him up as a free agent, and as nice a guy as i'm sure he is he added nothing to our side.
