WE HAVE A GOOD NUCLEUS
whatwhat say what replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not pictured, not mentioned. Big few weeks coming up for Jimmy T. -
conca is a bit like toumpas - too slow, not skilled, insipid. doesn't have the capacity to really run thru midfield, nor the defensively accountability to play half-back rebound role. stuck in that awkward position of between being an outstanding junior talent and lacking the ability to convert that to the afl. wouldn't go near him personally.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Darcy Tucker please. -
For every one nice kick, his nine other possessions usually are turnovers or to a disadvantageous position. His speed, skills and desire are all not afl standard, and like others i fail to see how they're going to get to the required level with us. He was so highly rated as a junior, and all the commentary at the time is that he'd be able to come in and play afl from the get-go thanks to his grounding in sanfl. He's two and a bit years in and doesn't look like it. However, with Salem's injury I'm hopeful he gets the opportunity to press to be that half-back playmaker. I have serious doubts due to his speed, skill and desire that he'll be capable of playing the role.

THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS

So channel 7 apparently reported tonight that Crowley tested positive to methadone? Wowsers. -
It's a myth that nba draftees are all seasoned college professionals. More and more they're kids straight out of high school - LeBron James and Kobe Bryant being the obvious examples over the last twenty years to be superstars from the get go. Of those afl drafts highlighted up to 2009, how many players reached 100,150, 200 games? That's a far more quantifiable measure of success than some random 'I think this player is an A, a B, etc'. Also would be curious to see - what mitigating factors stopped them from doing so, eg serious injury like Morabito - how many were traded by their teams and for what - how many left as free agents It's too early to judge Toumpas (but it's not looking good for him reaching 100 afl games or being a one-club player), but there's no question that Morton's first three years were far more encouraging than his thus far. He needs a stellar rest of 2015 to even come close to where Morton was at the end of his first three years, which just shows how far back he is coming from.

Lumumba reaction to Garland in last quarter
whatwhat say what replied to The Stigga's topic in Melbourne Demons
i expect garland to walk as a free agent at the end of the year. i guess we will get a second round compo pick for yet another wantaway defender. -
The big footy rumour is that Adelaide are into Jimmy. If we got Lyons for him that'd be more than he's currently worth. That being said, with Salem gone for an extended period he has a real opportunity to be the set up man behind play. My fear is that his timidity, lack of tenacity, and poor skills when under a scintilla of pressure will once again let him down.

salem is a definite out. viney won't be back. frost or kent either. kennedy-harris unlikely, and jetta hopefully - his head knocks are a massive concern. hogan is all but confirmed as an in. as disappointingly slow, timid and tentative as toumpas looks, salem's injury gives him an opportunity to cement a spot on half-back flank. howe and dawes - one has to go. mine is a vote for the latter, unfortunately. howe survives by the skin of his teeth, and gets an opportunity to play forward. ro bail is simply not up to it as an afl-level player. stretch ain't ready for afl-level intensity. watts shouldn't be a one week out / straight back in player. jamar / gawn aren't knocking the door down. the cupboard is bare! i would say bring in neal-bullen but, like stretch, i just refuse to believe he's 'ready' for afl level intensity; it's no surprise that brayshaw and vadenberg are struggling - it's been a tough initiation into afl, just as it is for nearly every new player that we bring in. IN: riley, newton, jetta OUT: salem (inj.), dawes, stretch riley and newton (did the latter even play in the vfl?)...it's deckchairs on the titanic stuff tbh. when mckenzie is one of our consistent vfl-level players we are in big, big trouble. B: Jetta - Dunn - Garland HB: Grimes - T. McDonald - Toumpas C: Lumumba - N. Jones - Vince HF: vandenBerg - Pedersen - Brayshaw F: Howe - Hogan - Garlett Foll: Spencer - Tyson - Cross I/C: Michie - Riley - M. Jones Sub: Newton Emerg: Dawes - Gawn - McKenzie footscray will run us off our legs - they're quick and hard at the ball. we are in big, big trouble up to the bye - footscray, port and collingwood all have superior kids and seniors.

I said last year that Morton had a more impressive first two seasons that Toumpas. Unfortunately it looks like Morton is going to 'win' the third year too. Sadly I don't see Toumpas as anything close to being good enough to be an afl player. Too slow, too timid, too unskilled.

Priority pick certain to be raised again.

We look like we will cop a massive hiding today.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Darcy Tucker or a swap for a gun for our pick, I would expect. I loved the yarn that Brisbane might be scared off any player managed by Liam Pickering. -
THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS

it's moments like these i miss having foxtel. -
AFL operate under AGILE principles - do one thing at a time, start and finish it, then move to the next thing. It's a lousy methodology.

THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS
whatwhat say what replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
how can little express 'shock' at the appeal? god they must be naive down there at bomberland. -
Trick is not to look for 'targets' so much as it is to examine gaps, and analysis of who has surfeit of players in those roles, and what they would want to improve their list. It's quid pro quo. We need: - running from half back and through midfield - midfielders with ball winning ability and pace - ruck strength - push up forwards who can impact midfield as well - depth - possibly a secondary key forward In short, our list is pretty average. Who would we WANT to be in our side in as little as three years time? Certainties: Hogan N Jones Salem Viney Brayshaw Tyson T McDonald Jetta Expected: Stretch Kent Frost Petracca Garlett ANB vandenBerg Howe Possibly: Watts Toumpas Dawes Gawn Newton JKH O McDonald Retired, delisted etc: Lumumba Trengove Mckenzie Dunn Cross Garland Pedersen Michie Vince Riley Hunt Grimes White Spencer Bail M Jones Terlich King Fitzpatrick In short, there's a helluva lot of gaps to fill going forward.
