  1. sadly the same was true last year when minson destroyed him in the gf he's an honest trier, but that's all
  2. this is pretty much my thoughts on this kid he's a far better kick than most on here are giving him credit for being, and coupled with his intercept prowess - which went to another level again in the back half of the year, as he started marking rather than simply spoiling (and boy, when he spoils, he KILLS the contest) - he's the ideal man to have as part of a zone defence i would suspect if he is contemplating coming to us (and i really, really hope he is) then part of the appeal would be that the zone he's asked to play is pretty much tailor-made for his natural abilities
  3. Lewis is integral to our ball movement as he hits targets by foot, unlike many of his teammates Speed of ball movement isn't our biggest issue; it's one of them I'd say ability to hit targets regularly and spread defensively on transition are our biggest weaknesses
  4. Exactly Motlop is a talent and ultimately if all it costs is salary then I think he is worth bringing in, absolutely
  5. Whitfield is not likely, Kelly is not likely, Lever is The problem with someone like Boekhurst is that he'd probably be behind the likes of Kent and Bugg - I'd certainly consider them better footballers, which is saying something Motlop would be a fantastic addition - I thought he was a free agent, but apparently not? The rumours have all been about him wanting to go to an SA-based team, preferably Port Re @DeeSpencer's desire to move T Mac into a ruck / forward rule, does that basically relegate Pedo to likely out of the side? It would likely necessitate keeping Frost for mine B: Jetta - Frost - O Mac HB: Hunt - Lever - Hibberd C: Motlop - Jones - Lewis HF: Petracca - Watts - Melksham F: T Mac - Hogan - Garlett Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Salem - Brayshaw - Tyson - Hannan Emerg: Pedersen - Vince - Weideman I lurrrrve that half-back line
  6. Signed, sealed and remaining - $1.3m for the next 7 years By my reckoning they have 5 players commanding 25% of their salary cap, which is a recipe for potential disaster
  7. roos liked howe as a defensive intercept marker howe liked howe as a high flying goal kicking forward he can fly but he can't kick, so - as collingwood have found out - he's far better off down the back the boy came to the mfc with a cfc tattoo on him, that's how much he loved the pies - when his boyhood hero told him what it'd be like to be a star forward at the pies, can you blame him for wanting to go? he was never going to stay at the mfc when he was being offered double the wage at the franchises to head north or about the same to play for the club he clearly loved edit: anyway, it's completely irrelevant as he left the club before the thought of lewis coming to the mfc was even a possibility lewis has been a terrific acquisition and i'm confident we'll get the full three year value out of him enough talking about a player who hasn't been with us for some time!
  8. howe left two seasons ago, and wanted to play forward hibberd is a far superior player
  9. you just shake your head in disbelief really what a rabble we remain
  10. what i was told is that a significant party at adelaide has declared that it's a "done deal" in so much as he's picked the club he wants to play for and the salary he wants to receive - but like everything, i take it with a grain of salt
  11. All the talk at the moment is that it's btw Dees and Footscray; Crows would prefer he went to Pies cos they're prepared to give up pick 6, but Lever's preference is Melbourne The $$ have been pushed up by Footscray's offer, as to whether or not we are matching that valuation is another matter I was told yesterday it's a "done deal" but we shall see
  12. That's not how the sites work AFL Media publishes a gazillion articles and clubs choose to cross publish or not Same with the 'finals are coming' send - MFC CHOSE to send it; other clubs still in contention did not
  13. i'll take him as part of our coaching set-up...but not our playing list
  14. Worth it 21 year old key defenders who read the ball in flight and kick it well are a rare commodity
  15. $850k a year is the rumour...
  16. We are not good enough to get to 16 wins We are an average side still in development mode Since Roos we have gone 4, 7, 10 and then 12 wins under first year of Goodwin Continuing this trajectory is the desire, not the minimum KPI I would like to see us hit 14-16 wins but like everyone I have zero expectations that we can actually achieve this cos, well...MFCSS
  17. He is absolutely integral to our growth as a side
  18. it's very poor at the very least they should have removed the 'wait and see' article the club will not live down that 'finals are coming!' email for some time
  19. still not even an update to the official website
  20. he's a second rotation midfielder and there's no difference btw him and a myriad of other similar types of players at other clubs you wouldn't be trading him for a pick; it'd put you backwards a like-for-like would achieve nothing
  21. i'd hazard a guess at a top ten of: oliver hibberd jetta viney tom mcdonald melksham garlett petracca lewis pedersen
  22. the whole weekend was utterly shattering i honestly thought 12 wins was the best we could hope for at the start of the year, and the lower reaches of the 8 - we achieved the former but managed to miss out on the latter it's just shattering
  23. at the start of the year i thought we'd finish somewhere btw 7-11 with somewhere btw 8-12 wins whilst we achieved the higher limit of what i thought we were capable of, it's a bitterly disappointing way to end the year
