  1. well i woulda tipped port, i think, but they've looked pretty flat - if footscray had kicked straight in that first quarter they'd be a mile up tigers? cats ....ugh.......them (i think we'll do what we always do, and gift a crappy team an easy win) the filth aints gw$
  2. hard to disagree with much the only thing i will vehemently disagree with is that our "core of players is excellent" we have three a-graders - gawn, petracca, and oliver we have three b-graders - may, salem, and - i'd argue - lever the rest are a lot of journeymen (jones, jetta, t mac, hibberd, melksham), nqrs (brayshaw, weideman, langdon, etc.) and pretty ordinary plodders (everyone else) after four rebuilds (07-09, 10-12, 13-18, 19-now) our list is still an absolute dog's breakfast
  3. so big max has done his back carrying the team on it like judd did his shoulders doing the same for meth coke, eh?
  4. when things are glum there's worse to come
  5. patrick cripps' kicking was worse than oliver's in his first few years and he's worked very hard to get it to a point where, after six years in system, he's still no better than 50/50 by foot still confident that oliver will go down in history as the best midfielder melbourne has had in a long, long time
  6. i've tempered my expectation of five changes from earlier in the week, still think we need to make some statements at selection however OUT: jones, brayshaw, t mac IN: bennell, tomlinson, avb
  7. nup, ask most peptiders what they think of him and they rate him the same way we have nate for the last 15 years - good honest servant who is ultimately a b-grader they much prefer zerrett, for instance
  8. heppell is the peptides' nathan jones, murphy has always been a pretty average player in average sides, and pendlebury is arguably the greatest magpie ever
  9. no, silly, he's begun an inquiry to form a quorum to raise a committee to seek expert advice to think about considering it
  10. looks like north are much better without brown or polec currently... will be interesting to see whether polec is at his fourth club in 2021
  11. no idea i guess they like salem behind the ball as the set-up man
  12. completely disagree re yr assessment of lever; he's no more or less a failure as a recruit as may backline is set to be built around may, lever, lockhart and salem with other spots up for grabs - at the moment hibberd and o mac are the incumbents, but i'm hoping that rivers and perhaps petty can take those roles your assessment of oliver is absurd; he's clearly one of our best midfield players in a long, long time our core inside trio should be gawn, oliver, and petracca - we need viney to be a part of that make-up as when he's firing he's excellent, but we definitely need someone with the ability to break away from packs and kick with accuracy from the centre square make-up; trac is arguably that role, but he seems to prefer dinky little handballs in the telephone box too often as well langdon is obviously one wingman and there's a yawning gap to fill on the other side; i have completely convinced myself that brayshaw for polec makes sense, but given that that is unlikely then perhaps it will be someone that we recruit in that not too distant future
  13. aren't dunkley and baker only recent hub residents? doubt they'd come straight into the 22 brayshaw for polec; if you believe the scum rumours, one is on $600-650k and the other is on $700-750k i'd take a $100k hit on our cap space to have polec over brayshaw in our side i very much doubt whether north will entertain the trade; dropping both him and sideshow bob this round is a massive statement from shaw isn't it great that they'll undoubtedly both destroy is in two games time...
  14. peptides are missing a third of their salary cap hooker, fantasia, stringer, laverde, ambrose, daniher, heppell are all automatic best 22 for them we have no such excuses
  15. good questions, well answered, other than when he said that you don't want to look at one game in isolation while i agree with mahoney that for the most part we've been competitive in most games this year, it's not one game in isolation that is the issue - we see the same things happening time and time again the constant inability to convert dominant f50 entries into scores is something that has clearly been a big issue for some time now, which is also something that the club has addressed previously directly to fans and within media circles - it's hardly some big secret that that and our inability to deal with a scintilla of pressure is a constant his support for goodwin is admirable and obviously necessary, but it just confirms in my mind that he can't be the footy ops boss - or whatever the title is - as goodwin goes into the final two years of his contract in 2021
  16. Viney won’t get us first round compo
  17. peptides look like us; get ball, bomb ball, turnover ball, stand still, see ball go whizzing past you at the rate of knots unlike us they have a litany of injuries to their best 22
  18. frost with some classic frostball
  19. couple of classic frostball moments
  20. Straight swap for Polec
  21. should go at the end of the year we need someone who has experienced sustained success as our gm of football ops i'd love clarkson to part ways with the hawks and i'd be in his ear big time about getting handed the reins
  22. sad to see really, should've retired end of last year - did he go on in the hope of getting to 300?
  23. if that was the case why were we constantly kicking to the pockets where fritsch and hannan were leading? either our players are dumb or our coaching staff is or a combination of both i lean towards c
  24. OUT: jones, harmes, brayshaw, hannan, t mac IN: bennell, tomlinson, avb, anb, jetta sparrow to roll through the midfield again in place of brayshaw's rotation B: Lockhart - May - Lever HB: Salem - O Mac - Hibberd C : Langdon - Petracca - Tomlinson HF: Melksham - Jackson - Bennell F: Fritsch - Weideman - ANB Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: AVB - Sparrow - Pickett - Jetta we're not making finals, but we've got to get thru this 'hub' period but i would expect we will see something more from rivers and jordan debuting some time soon
