  1. Super entertaining game
  2. loving the positional uncertainty... rosman a wing? back pocket! mitch brown a tall forward? full back! petty a tall defender? named on the wing! bowey a caleb daniel clone? half-forward! smith a rebounding half-back? forward pocket! bradtke a ruckman? rover! quality work by whoever controls the clipboard for casey
  3. geez that's harsh on jones some of his i50 passing - i can think of one to jackson in particular - has been first rate
  4. i wouldn't go that far but he's definitely one player it's super easy to admire from afar
  5. THOUGHT to be more reliable; stats don't bear that out
  6. where has lefau gone to?
  7. dunno if it's the same these days, but players are limited by what vlad used to dub 'the phys ed-ers' from doing repeat kicking drills so that they're not 'over-working' their legs ross the boss' suggestion that players do 'away from training' goalkicking practice would, i suspect, be frowned on by the fitness staff...which is patently ridiculous
  8. buddy and the cygnets pear footscray meth coke carltank filth crows us dockers no confidence in swans, dogs, us, dockers in particular, plus there could be a host of other upsets really even round that should be pretty entertaining
  9. i would expect it to be permanent tbh
  10. i'd be very pleased if we get over 40k the ticketing system is just too hard for the average fan and we won't get the train-up crowd from sleepy hollow at that 3.20pm timeslot
  11. i presume it's outside the official fta ratings period so less incentive to have a high-cost product on air
  12. no more thursday nite games in this bracket so saturday nite is ch 7's #2 slot
  13. i've always been an advocate to reduce the competition to 14 teams (goodbye northern franchises, saints, north) or 12 and everyone plays each other home and away in a 26- or 22-round season it won't happen tho the fact that ed is promoting a 20 team competition is in keeping with the whispers out of docklands for the last five or six years that the afl is more focussed on expansion than contraction as others have said, his entire statement is high on popular statements and low on realistic outcomes - all about 'rehabilitation of ed' than anything else
  14. as they should be - playing fast, exciting, high-scoring football and are regularly one of the most-watched sides over the last two decades on free-to-air due to being in the most populous city and incredibly successful
  15. the most hilarious thing about dimma's suggestion is that he didn't even know the name of the player - that's how low on the totem pole he is plus i believe he was originally a queensland academy zone player in the first place? gc17 wouldn't want to 'loan' some unproven kid as a stand-in ruckman anyway - they'd be more likely to target mabior chol as a player who CAN play ruck at afl level as already proven
  16. he sticks with gw$ he's earning $8m over the next 8 - i would expect gw$ are competitive again before north are
  17. it's the colin sylvia special! jack watts was also a master at it
  18. yep be interesting to see where they fall
  19. be great if we could have a highly rated academy kid - or two! - in a year in which we don't have a first round pick
  20. they invested in these kids since they were under 12s and gave up points at the draft table in order to claim them - braeden campbell cost the points equivalent of pick 5 and and errol gulden cost them pick 32...before discounts what they should not have been able to do is have any 'discount' applied to them same goes for the dogs claiming jamarra ugle-hagan with pick 1 in 2020 and (probably) the filth with nick daicos with pick 1 later this year
  21. fwiw, the sanfl kicked off last weekend
  22. and buddy...and judd...and prestia...
  23. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if they win all 12 games they play at home The shape of the new ground also sets them up beautifully to replicate their game style to the G too
  24. i thought the way he handled the tag was pretty smart - he took de boer forward as much as he could; just a shame he couldn't kick the goals when in the centre square, he also positioned himself way out wide on the wing which completely threw gw$ for a loop - all of a sudden it was only two mids each at the fall of the ball rather than three as is the norm at centre square rotations i've never seen a hard-tagged inside mid do that before
  25. i would expect he would be in significant demand from teams that want to be successful - he's a smart footballer who makes good decisions with the ball in hand but also works hard defensively i'm more worried about him leaving than clayton or petracca, for instance, as a successful team - like, say, richmond or sydney - could offer him a significant contract that blows us out of the water in terms of offer
