  1. one thing i did see that was notable was that, on the flight from melbourne to carrara, the sydney team was completely decked out in their official tracksuits and looked like a 'team' whereas gw$ looked like a dogs' breakfast of casual clothing it was a stark contract in professionalism
  2. sounds like mac andrew will be a top 10 pick at this stage https://www.afl.com.au/news/647954/twomey-s-draft-team-of-the-year-merrett-2-0-athletic-ruck-enter-top-10-talks Mac Andrew's performance for Vic Country in last week's under-19 clash with Vic Metro was particularly eye-catching and sees the athletic ruckman/forward come back into the team of the year after missing several weeks through concussion. Andrew has elevated himself into being a likely top-10 selection, meaning Melbourne would be unable to match a bid on the Next Generation Academy prospect.
  3. getting to qld as a hub is gonna be tricky for any team not already there - arrive after 1am saturday and it's 14 days hotel quarantine
  4. (Lack of) change, as expected Sparrow for medi-sub again?
  5. cats are so boring to watch freo are just hard to watch
  6. cats? bears? footscray? us aints? peptides? filth? meth coke? swans? i have no idea with tips this weekend - so many 'well they SHOULD win but they COULD win'
  7. ever since kornes got burned by his fapping over rozee vs walsh he's toned down the 'extra mayo'
  8. i agree with the all oztrayan call @Baghdad Bob - few players are playing a true 'centre half forward' role quite like plugger mac at the moment
  9. can't see the clash vs gc17 going ahead in darwin saturday week at this stage
  10. that's if the game happens...
  11. very harsh on chief collins to have him that far back @Supermercado i'd go current top 10ish: white wilson ingerson moloney vince moore may lever hibberd bizzell
  12. no, but he's fourth cab off the rank
  13. weed is next cab off the ruck ranks if max or dogga (god forbid) gets injured, then daw in a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency dire need
  14. i think grundy came of age when there was a school of thought that you don't pick ruckmen early; you wait for them to develop mac andrew is coming of age where the super athletic ruckmen are good to go from the get-go
  15. it's a shame we lose the access to him but the nga is absurd
  16. no thanks the notion of a player 'debuting' in a game where they might not even take the field is a terrible thing to do
  17. gc17 are, at the moment, a form team in the competition
  18. north have all but confirmed that, if they do finish last (which is not entirely guaranteed now), they will be bidding on the two father-sons
  19. i like it! but where's schwab's monstrosity?
  20. As did Peter Moore Edit: shame he finished 13 games of qualifying Darcy to be eligible for father-son for us as well as the filth* *he was never going to 'nominate' us
  21. his mobility and attack on the contest is awesome and he has such sticky hands; all he needs to do to really take over the competition is nail his shots footscray's forward line is going to be interesting with naughton leading the charge plus jamara ugle-hagen and luke darcy's son as likely key forward types from next year onwards, as they develop to replace josh bruce
  22. question for the crew: last time we had a significant gap between games (10 days between the bears win and the queens birthday loss) we seemed to come out 'flat' from the get go - do you think that the thursday evening til saturday twilight (9 days) poses a threat to our ability to start strongly?
  23. i personally have no issue with players who lower their centre of gravity in order to 'earn' a free kick for getting caught high; i think it's an accepted part of the game now and a genuine tactic - spargo is a master at it and salem cops his fair few high hits as a result of his low to the ground game too throws are a different issue altogether and we're as guilty as any club; the funny thing is that that the few times that the likes of oliver have been pinged for it, on slo-mo it actually shows that he HAS handballed it; his hands are just THAT quick the thing that annoys me the most about the standard of umpiring is the sheer inconsistency; not just game to game but within games i think part of the problem is three maggots of various hue on field at all times; i'd prefer just two - make them professional and train them properly to sustain fitness required and quality of decision-making
  24. got to work with choc and peter rohde for a year, d rod, matt bishop, and troy chaplin for a couple, and to meet a lot of players along the way, plus the likes neale daniher and a heap of players of his era at club functions etc, and then the likes jack watts, christian petracca, angus brayshaw, dom tyson and others besides as well around the traps for the most part they're all good people - up for a chat and friendly
  25. who said anything about wings being removed? 5-6-5 instead of 6-6-6 would be the way it'd be structured, not 6-4-6 3 of 3 flags? i want 15 in a row! 5 for goodwin as coach, 5 when he hands over to yze, then 5 for nathan jones... the obvious first move to make is reduced rotations - 60 in total should be the next mark there's no way the aflpa would agree to that if it was 16 on field, 6 on the bench tho i don't think
