  1. the afl gives lip service to the notion of 'australian rules football'
  2. this is interesting... Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir will switch from a fixed term deal to an ongoing employee agreement when his current deal expires at the end of the season. The unique arrangement means Longmuir will remain as coach in 2026 and beyond after renegotiating his own employment terms. The 44-year-old agreed to a one-year extension on the eve of the 2024 season, aligning with the club’s strategic plan which intends to deliver an AFL premiership by the end of this year. But the sixth-year coach will become a full-time staff member at the end of the season with a rolling agreement that doesn’t include an end date. more here: https://www.codesports.com.au/afl/fremantle/justin-longmuir-to-coach-fremantle-in-2026-and-beyond-after-new-unique-agreement/news-story/599b7c14f9147ba5598b811b225d6194
  3. typical pravda the quality of their jErNaLiSm is appalling these days - fallen a long way from the days of afl media being set up
  4. i just can't get over how big this deal is for the club going forward - has lego ever been a 'sponsor' of any sporting organisation in australia? what about globally?
  5. Yeah I was similarly stunned At least we were assisted this time
  6. Paging @WERRIDEE Will Culley make MFC xxxiii now he’s officially on the list?!??
  7. Blow me over with a feather if the head office does the sensible thing and reopens the ssp time period
  8. None of those I suspect Still a great get imo
  9. Callaghan deal with GW$ confirmed - takes him thru to free agency, where he will be a restricted free agent
  10. That’s an amazing ’get’ as a sponsor Another new entry into the afl sponsor marketplace Love it
  11. I don’t think any club will be granted an exemption the afl will adjust time of ssp in 2026 and beyond
  12. beetlejuice... ...beetlejuice...
  13. JVR seems to relish part time ruck work More power to him
  14. Best side available plays imo
  15. time for another update @WERRIDEE with amw joining mcadam in sitting out 2025
  16. deakyn smith has a real opportunity to press his case(y) in the vfl ahead of the mid-season draft
  17. no, they're not first time people play for real should be round 1
  18. fine, swap him in / out for sharp B: Howes - May - Lever HB: Windsor - Petty - Salem C: Billings - Rivers - Bowey HF: Fritsch - Turner - Langdon FF: Petracca - van Rooyen - Chandler Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney Int: Langford - Lindsay - Sharp - Sparrow Sub: Woewodin
  19. the ssp won't be extended it's now a case of waiting til the mid season draft to be able to bring a player on to the list, if determined that it's worthwhile doing so
  20. i remember when simon tregenza did his acl he actually got thru the following half of the next week before they realised something was really, really wrong
  21. salo so good he makes the side twice
  22. i think generally it's 8 weeks at the extreme end the way chaplin was talking at the end it sounds like it's an acl unfortunately
  23. no, i'm thinking #postivelingers to rotate straight into the midfield i don't think he'll play much wing this year; more half forward / rover
  24. hard to argue with the make-up of the team but for opening bounce - and it's purely semantics - i don't think viney and petracca will be starting on the pine, nor windsor B: Howes - May - Lever HB: Windsor - Petty - Salem C: Billings - Rivers - Bowey HF: Fritsch - Turner - Sharp FF: Petracca - van Rooyen - Chandler Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney Int: Langdon - Langford - Lindsay - Sparrow Sub: Woewodin very interested to see how we mix up that running half-back and defensive wingman role in 2025 - windsor, salem, bowey, lindsay, and woey 2.0 all look more than capable of waxing and waning in the position
  25. watched the second half on replay after watching the first half live firstly, on the oppo... i'd be very concerned if i was clarkson - north lacked any intensity in the second half and applied minimal pressure; daniel, parker, and darling might add experience but they offer nothing defensively while their senior players have skill but other than ldu the workrate isn't there on us... we just looked a better team, with arguably 12 of our best 25 not in the side: 1. may 3. salem 4. mcvee 5. petracca 6. windsor 7. viney 10. spargo 11. gawn 12. tholstrup 15. langdon 18. melksham 31. fritsch on those that did play... highlights: super impressed by langford and lindsay, billings looks like he's running hard to make space, oliver's burst speed away from stoppages is back, rivers is a classy permanent addition to the mids, van rooyen is a beauty with 4 goals in the second half while sharp looks a likely type in the forward half with the occasional bit of work up the wing lowlights: jefferson is simply not strong enough in the contest, laurie doesn't impact as a mid and is poor under pressure, and losing moniz-wakefield to a likely acl is a real shame
