It sounds as if the only part of the title to this thread that is totally accurate is the part about MN being mad. He's mad at the irresponsible journalism that puts the likes of Jordan Gysberts out of the club right now. It's possible that Gys might end up being traded but it was pathetic to hear ABC commentators announcing during the early part of yesterday's game that both he and Lucas Cook had been delisted during the week when clearly the club has not announced its delistings. In addition, Gysberts is a contracted player so that it's highly unlikely he will be delisted at all even though the trade option remains open. I think Andrew Walker of Carlton was in the same situation a couple of years ago but nothing eventuated on that score. He went on to be a valuable member of the team kicking 50 goals and eventually got a better and longer contract with the club.

Maybe G Lyon should have spoken to R Lyon after all!
Blistering replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Does anyone know whether Garry Lyon approached Tom Hafey about the Melbourne coaching job? If not, I think we're all entitled to know why not? After all, Hafey is a successful premiership coach and was probably available. -
FMD. You could hardly avoid putting Neeld's name in a thread about the process involved in selecting him, could you? Tell us the details if the process please?
-
And let's rate the process when we know a bit more about it.

Chris Judd's chicken winging of Leigh Adams
Blistering replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
If Jack Trengove got 3 weeks for his sling tackle last year then the MRP has to look at Judd's tackle on Adams tonight. Nearly ripped his shoulder off. I know it's a dangerous tackle because the same thing happened to me once and I had to undergo a shoulder reco. Still have pain there and sublux from time to time. The AFL can't let this one go. -
Nothing in it here. One director sets him up with a dodgy environmental ambassador role that pays out way beyond its worth and one sets him up with an investment that he's not too keen on disclosing. Nothing there. Look away.

Let's go to Kardinia Park and Retrieve Our Dignity

The OP should be submitted in the people speak thread. -
Holey moley - five goals in half a game ain't half bad even for VFL ressies!

We need to remember each and every person who was willing to sink the boots in when we were down and out and give them heaps on our way up. It's us against the world so let's start making these b#^&st@*ds eat their words!

Why would he want to go there and play with a skunk like Voldemort?

Port Adelaide v Melbourne NAB Cup Week 4
Blistering replied to GawnWithTheWind's topic in Melbourne Demons
Worst thing about them is the way they've simply surrendered at the end of the game. I predict some of the club's former big names won't be lining up against Brisbane in Round 1. -
Derryn Hinch used to be a Demon fan but I'm glad this obnoxious person bailed out on the club. Maybe his recent stay in prison made him lose touch with reality - AFL 'too soft' on Jurrah?

Garry Lyon's six-month rescue mission over
Blistering replied to Brayshaws' Helmet's topic in Melbourne Demons
There are clearly some issues with having as President someone with Jimmy's health concerns. I doubt there would be many who haven't had at least a passing thought about whether it would be good for him or the club to remain as our leader. But I see no reason why the situation needs to be changed at this point in time while his deputy and his CEO are in place and Sugar is apparently about to come on board. The current set up might not be ideal but it's a hell of a lot better now than it was six months ago and if people are concerned that we might have looked bad because Bailey wasn't told to his face that he had the sack that would look like a mole hill compared to telling Jimmy to move on. I'm glad we have a moral compass because it will hold us in good stead in this new era to come. -
I have no problem with Eddie and in fact would like our club to be run as professionally and as successfully as Collingwood. Then when we beat them, we can give him some stick.

Training - Monday 9th January, 2012
Blistering replied to Hulett Packard III's topic in Melbourne Demons
The "fitness stuff" is bloody important. You need it to cope with a long season of games and training on a weekly basis for eight months. -
The Waylen (aka Zyrus) Manson Thread
Blistering replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not sure you were able to read my post Bob but I would have thought that by pointing out what happens in cases when racism is taken to its extreme is part of the process of education. It's what happens at the extremes that makes racism repugnant but, as WJ pointed out, even at its most basic level, it can be hurtful to others and there's no place for it in society these days. People should really read his post (255) carefully to understand the exact point he's making. When Kevin Rudd issued his apology it was accepted with grace and humility by the elders of our Aboriginal communities. Perhaps Barry Dawson could do the same. -
Only Kevin Sheedy. He's worked out the order he wants and is passing it on to the AFL to be announced officially tomorrow.

The Waylen (aka Zyrus) Manson Thread
Blistering replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
What WJ was pointing out was that racist comment shouldn't be taken lightly because its consequences, when taken to its extreme can be catastrophic. He gave as examples a wide ranging number of instances of genocide and that our indigenous people are among them. It's a pity you don't understand that, Mr. ......... Dawson. -
Big call by Crackers Keenan - GWS will struggle Others have said that he went back to coaching for an even more fundamental reason and that he made the courageous move to Bleaktown for the same reason his star player did - the $. And that is the stuff that failed franchises in sport are made of.
-
I wouldn't be so sure.
-
I reckon Eddie's gotten himself well and truly sucked in on this one. His words will be quoted in future by many others and could come back to bite him on the bum. Meanwhile, he's given Sheedy what he wants ... publicity for the GW$ cause.
-
I reckon the other Collingwood top up player WJ mentioned in the Permission to Train thread would be worth a look as well. Tom Sundberg.
-
Well said. There's absolutely no reason to shrink away in silence when we cop that sort of abuse.
-
Do you think that's adequate compensation for a number one priority pick with two year's input by a club? Surely, this isn't compensation for such a player? Even if the two players were remotely equivalent, it would set us back three years.
-
The compensation picks can be used in 2011 but, because of all of the GWS picks which compromise the 2011 draft, they would be severely devalued if used in 2011 (except as trades to other clubs that wanted to stockpile them). Where are the rules about clubs making application to the AFL in the case of anomalous situations that were reported about previously in the media?
