  1. Yep, this thread is already the Home and Away of Demonland.
  2. The moment we sent 3 long balls to three forwards forming in the same spot I knew we were doomed to not score. This needs to change to become a true elite side. I cannot believe how quickly how forward line turns into a pop gun attack when we do this. It is easy to prepare for and we barely ever lock it in or get any crumbing opportunities from it. Total joke.
  3. Would be a bargin
  4. I thought Petracca had done his knee again.
  5. Well according to King and Co they Poor Pies didn't get enough of an advantage and should have got 75% of the tickets.
  6. I might have lost my mind but if this is such an obvious display of recklessness then why is the football public completely split down the middle on it? How is anyone going to get a good smother if they twist away to the left? You do have to be somewhat in the vicinity of the ball to smother. Yes it's careless, that's why a free kick and possible 1 or 2 weeks would do it. However there's a massive vendetta brewing here with double standards all over the place. But look everyone here seems to have it worked out so you shouldn't have to worry, 4 weeks open and shut. Done with it.
  7. That's fair enough. I'd like to see the change of direction part because I'm just not seeing it. All I see is is run straight and jump which admittedly is a bit careless. Would be happy to see some kind of walk through.
  8. I think it's both a footy act and he should be responsible for his actions.
  9. Appreciate your point but I dont believe I'm off the mark. You've openly admitted yourself to being new to the game within the last decade so with respect you may not fully understand how miniscule the difference is between being hard and fair and hard and reckless in this sport and what you learn at a young age. Every player that crosses the line understands the risks and if Gus Brayshaw who I love to death has reservations about playing because of his concussion history then he shouldn't be playing simple as that. You will never eliminate frontal contact completely, not with the game in this form. This is a collision sport and while I'm coming around to it being reckless and possibly worthy of a 1-2 gane suspension I don't think you're going to save more concussions by making an example out of a football act gone wrong.
  10. Fair point. But what if the elbow was flailing around and he collected him with that UFC style? Where do we draw the line jnrmac that's all I want to know. What is the fail-safe thing Maynard should do to not get in trouble?
  11. So according to this thread tackling, smothering, marking contests and any sort of collisions should be outlawed. Honestly this game has 20 years left as we know it and I mean that sincerely. There's no way you are going to stop concussions completely and until there is some kind of technology that can pad the brain better then we'll obviously need to keep doing these kinds of measures. "Go hard, put pressure on the ball carrier but don't leave the ground or stop mid air or make the split second decision to turn the shoulder the right way" "Don't go for a smother, let him kick the ball inside 50" "Tackle hard but not too hard" "Pull out of marking contests" I care about protecting the head as much as the next person but this is getting out of hand if you want to follow the sport.
  12. You're doing the right thing but plenty of others are just taking their anger out on this and it's not going to make them feel any better.
  13. Who gives a toss? This does nothing for us. If you genuinely care about head safety then fine but if this is some exercise to place your blame and revenge then you're wasting your time and energy.
  14. Screw the rest of this finals round. Couldn't give a bee's [censored] what happens. Enjoy but I'm out!
  15. Yep, we'd be the new Port from the 2000s.
  16. Need better ball use. Much better ball use.
  17. The one thing I haven't spoken about yet is suspensions. I think it's a footy act but haven't said he should be cleared because at the end of the day you do run the risk if you choose to leave the ground. I also don't know enough about the gradings etc. They still need to uphold some kind of duty of care and protecting the head. I wouldn't complain if he was given a week or 2.
  18. Because you raise your arms when you attempt to smother, it's not a new thing. It didn't look great but if Maynard was deliberately trying to take out a guy with concussion history then he did it in the most calculated and perfect way ever. It is a collision sport and its kind of absurd how many people want to now suddenly cut this out of the game. Everyone here erupted when JVR got off early in the year. I'm sure the cavalry will be coming for me on this one so bring it on but honestly had the situation been reversed I reckon 90% of the people here would be calling it a football act.
  19. I hear ya. These games don't come round often, we've played in 4 this century and split the difference. Wpuld be extremely nice to win and go straight through. Chance not taken.
  20. Just a game..
  21. I quite like the word jargon.
  22. Yeah and every year that someone wins one on the G will just leave some sour after-taste. Especially if it's Collingwood this year.
  23. Did we lose it at selection? The 2 tall defence has rarely worked this year and doesn't give Lever the best chance to intercept. Did our ball movement need to change? The long ball to a cluster of stationary forwards has rarely worked this year.
  24. I said it in the pre game, the podcast, everywhere. I did not want this afterthought on whether we could have used Grundy or not. Don't think it would have been a massive difference but geez.
