It can be done, but we need to get some kind of devine demon force working in our favour. Something that will have everyone shaking in their boots as we beat Carlton and then start well against Brisbane, gaining momentum. When other teams have caught fire in the past at this point of the season it almost seems like it's more likely to happen than not. In hindsight that Bulldogs charge two years ago was pretty scary.

Do people really not remember Aaron Vandenberg bringing a bottle of wine over to Brody Mihocek after their collision a few years ago? Whether it's a dumb and stupid PR stunt or not let's not pretend this is the first time it's ever happened. -
Yes. Or at very least a defender that can swing forward. KPFs are usually a waste of money. Find another key back in the mold of Petty or Tmac who sees the ball well in flight and if they can kick a goal that's a bonus.

Great pick up El Diablo. Very much worth a listen. -
It felt like 5 mins before we had an I50. I can't cop that, you need to be at least level in the first quarter of finals footy to have a shot. I also feel this is where the game was likely lost and we spent the whole game chasing it. -10 CP to start a game is alarming and even if by design is just handing momentum and psychological advantage on a silver platter, especially when it was pelting down with rain minutes before. We need to be physical and want it, if a team that isn't strong in this area did what they did then one that is like Carlton will put us to the sword if we allow that to happen again.

I think it's a very well written article. Yeah it's an interesting finish to the article but I like how he's prepared to put his personal opinion of what should happen aside for the greater good. I can't say for sure if it's the act of a thug but I do believe he needs to be responsible. I really appreciated the part where he said that commenting on the incident needed some restraint and nuance. Couldn't agree more, things reached fever pitch everywhere and it didn't help. -

100% and I really wish these kinds of people were put front and centre when it comes to anything like this or the Alir and Jones incident. -
You're an M9 man. I like it!

Moneyshot Binman. Wasn't it a football act? Don't tell me there is a hint of guilt there. -

Concussion and CTE is the only subject where I don't feel that I have to seek a former player's opinion. It means something yes, but they aren't Robinson Crusoe on this matter. -
Not a bad one at all, enjoy!

For 2 and a half quarters the corridor didn't exist to us. We looked like we were just sticking with the system and hoping things would change at some point. The moment we dared to take it on through the middle was when we had the most fortune scoring. We needed to vary the entries into 50, even some quick and messy balls in at least hitting the deck in hard to defend situations would have been better than the same old slow long ball to stationary forwards approach.

You know that's not true.

Can you please just inject some of your positivity directly into my skin? I really need it badly.

Sorry I didn't know about the Wilson side, been completely blacked out from media in the last day or so. Could make for some good tv. -

I dunno mate, we'd be lambs to the slaughter surely! -
Does the football media need to be held to a higher standard? In the 24 hr news cycle and Twitterverse have we allowed this to become too much of a free for all where serious issues like concussion and CTE are concerned? In the Alir and Jones collision we had ex players like Cornes defending medical staff and inadvertently (in my view) playing down the seriousness of this issue. We've now got ex players saying that Maynard's act was a pure football act and some even suggesting that Brayshaw should have protected himself better. Concussion and CTE is a serious health issue that is transcending the expert game knowledge and commentary of ex footballers. I believe these figures have a platform and with that, a responsibility to not provide misinformation and headlines that could influence the public and players at lower levels in a negative way. Does this field and this subject need to be better regulated in the media?

How much more full of hope and dreams was this process last week? *sigh*

Very well said Rjay, very well said. I have no idea what he was thinking in the moment but after watching the footage over and over, seeing those little stutter steps at the start after he'd been running at full tilt I wouldn't be surprised if his intention was to become a flying projectile and if someone or something got taken out so be it. Adrenalin is a weird and crazy thing and while he may/may not have meant to hurt, he was out of control plain and simple. He probably didn't think he'd need to have any responsibility for his actions and he's dead wrong. -
My anger/sadness/depression usually subsides after 24-48 hours but in this case I would say it has actually gotten worse as the days have gone on. Today is horrible, I don't know what to say. That game was for all the marbles, there's no other way of putting it. The difference between the two paths is large, very large. Very, very hard to stay positive.

Thanks for these posts mate. I know this email will likely fall on deaf ears but it's a good email and I'd definitely be forwarding to some other outlets.

Haven't seen it yet but where Rugby League journos are concerned I've always liked Roy Masters. Will check that one out cheers. -

Binman's PA does a fine job.

Ah yes the "If you didn't know the results and read this thread you'd think we lost by 10 goals" brigade. It was a big game, people are disappointed. Go easy.
