  1. Very premature. Not quite as bad as the clowns last year who said we were guaranteed a prelim the moment Brisbane beat Richmond in the EF but done for the right reasons. I'm thinking Sat twilight.
  2. No real surprises. Laurie sub again
  3. I'm really tired of it Macca and the AFL hedging their bets both ways. Being swayed by the good bloke song and dance and how 'cruel' it is for a player to miss big finals suspended then in the next breath making a new rule for next year so they've effectively covered their backsides and are seen to be taking affirmative action. It's all bunk.
  4. Apologies, I've missed the last few hours of news but I really needed to say something because of fomo.
  5. Was wondering where you'd been. In hindsight probably a good move because gameday is tomorrow and that thread has eclipsed the pre game one.
  6. Only outs at this stage are Brayshaw and JVR so I'd say Jordon and someone else like Turner.
  7. That's awful. Hope he didn't get too personal but that might be wishful thinking.
  8. Well to be fair Bont probably did.
  9. Sorry to hear mate, that's horrible. All I hope for is that the AFL makes this workplace as safe as possible for their employees.
  10. Pretty ridiculous and with all commercial events needing to cater for the physically challenged I can’t imagine this will last. I don’t see any issue with this and even if everyone brought one chair per person I doubt it would fill the space too much to take away from the experience. They’re not meant to be cramming them in like sardines these days anyway. Pretty sure you’re allowed to take chairs to the Melbourne Cup and they still have grandstands.

Since the 16 season. They've just come out and said it's not happening and that's the right call. Kap had some success with read option offenses. I can't see him running a conventional west coast offense let alone an offense designed for Aaron Rodgers. Even when he was good he couldn't throw from the pocket consistently enough. Hard pass from me as well.
  12. So much for coming in to finals healthy this year.
  13. A lot of friends I talk to think the lawsuit stuff against the AFL is bogus because they "Knew what they were getting themselves into". These people need to be educated, the sport is contact yes and some concussions will be unavoidable. To quote from the Guardian article earlier this year: "It cited the AFL’s alleged failure to make and enforce rules, policies, procedures and protocols in line with medical knowledge to reduce the incidence of concussion as evidence of its “negligence”. The AFL also failed to adequately conduct risk assessments for head strikes and concussions and to educate players about the risks of long-term injury arising from concussion – particularly as they related to an early return to play, the writ said." I always wanted to believe the AFL was doing everything possible to minimise concussion and provide the best concussion management protocols possible but after the Alir and Jones incident a few weeks ago I'm not so sure.
  14. I am sick to death of the AFL bending both ways on things like this. We'll get swayed by the good bloke defence and let him play but we'll look at this closely and probably bring in a rule change around it, so effectively this will be the last time this happens. Talk about sitting on the fence! They really needed to come down hard on this and enforce their own rules. If Maynard was going to get off it should have been at the appeal stage deep, deep into the week like Cripps not at Tribunal stage. Everyone gets their cake and eats it too, total BS.
  15. Is Sicily still a villain?
  16. Is it fair to say this was a 'sleight of hand' tactic Redleg? By the end of the hearing the focus seemed to have shifted onto Brayshaw's running path and not the main issue of Maynard's action that they were there for. Like Mark Fuhrman in the OJ case, they weren't there to decide whether he was a racist or not.
  17. I see it as yes, there is a weight of expectation and we've had some serious curve balls thrown our way this year. It's something that might have crushed other sides but I'm very impressed with how we've managed to hold up. The events of this week could go either way for me, we could bind together or let the air go right out of the balloon. Either way would be understandable but I hope like hell our boys can do the former and stay focussed on the job as much as possible.
  18. Eddie McGuire is what we thought he was.

Sounds like Kaepernick's agent has been in touch as you'd expect.

I think that's it. By all reports was toying with retirement before this season Achilles at 39? Big ask to keep going.
  22. Let me guess, should have zigged instead of zagged? Righto.
  23. And that's why people like you were here to remind me that this would have been a bad move. Seeing a lot of knee-jerk and hindsight talk about how this would have been the call to make after the fact. The sensible view is yours in my opinion.
  24. Yeah I think my overall interest in the sport may dip a bit. Melb games will be as invested in as ever but sitting down to watch a random Fri night footy game or any other one in the weekend I may give a miss more often that not. Other things to do than sink 24/7 time into this organisation, I might even get more involved at local footy level.
  25. Social media sucks, the village so and so has too much power.
