Consistency, they end result will take care of itself if we can narrow the gap between our best and worst football. Putting a win loss target or what position we finish to hard for 2020, just play good strong consistent football and I will be happy. No more quarters where we are just plain terrible.
  2. Charge admission, the AFL will be losing a bucket on AFLW, it's not cheap to host a game with venue hire, staff, umpires and everything else you need to pay. Simple solution we have to pay to watch men at both AFL and VFL level, we should have to pay to watch the elite females of the sport and they should get a percentage of the gate receipts. The AFL is scared as they don't want attendance numbers to drop, if you have a premium product people will pay to watch. The issue with AFLW is it's not a premium product, the talent pool is way to small to cater for the number of sides in the competition. It should be 8 sides max and only the elite players get drafted. Expansion for the sake of expansion doesn't make sense, it killed the mens game for 10 years and the product is still no where near as good.
  3. Great Respect for Nathan Jones, to play for as long as he has with extremely poor sides, for a club with massive off field issues and to stick fat, most players would have jumped of the sinking ship. The ship did plug the holes for a year but these plugs couldn't with stand the pressure of 2019. Hopefully we have a stronger ship in 2020, my fear is we will never have strong enough structures to stop the boat leaking again. On his on field performance, last 2 years he has be moved around a lot and really don't know what position they see him playing, he isn't a defender, gets lost on the wing and really is a in the guts type of footballer. Unfortunately, the club sees him behind a few for the role he should be playing.
  4. I like the idea from the other way, from Flinders Street to the MCG, they have talked about covering the rail lines for many years. Do this with bars and restaurants, open areas, then you creating a sporting and entertainment precinct that is the major access pathway to MCG, Tennis centre and AMMI Park. Add in some car parks as well so when the MCG parking is closed you have somewhere you can park, then you can always have one or 2 areas of grass open space for kids to have a kick at the MCG. Put an Oval outside the MCG for public usage(and MFC Training Base).
  5. Agree, you have surgery on a muscle bit of scare tissue and it is just waking everything up. He will have tight calves and need to manage them. He is the cream on a pretty good trade and draft period, no essential but a big bonus if he does get through
  6. We are the worst kicking side in the AFL, great on the club for using a junior training tool but my point is they shouldn't need to, the fact they are in concerning
  7. I'm not getting worked up about it, more highlighting that the club need to revert to an U9/10 training tool due to the fact the players we have drafted don't have the ability to execute the most important skill in todays game. So it isn't nothing, it is concerning we have to revert to this tool
  8. It shouldn't be needed to be used at players at the elite level, it is the basis of the game. I remember a few years ago Paul Roos came out and said that AFL clubs shouldn't be teaching players how to execute the basic skills. You won't be able to improve players at this age, the motor skill is already developed as soon as the pressure comes on you will revert back to the way you have been kicking the ball for the past 10 odd years.
  9. Not saying it wasn't a problem, it is a massive problem, just goes to show we drafted players that could win the football the disposal side was secondary, my point is players at this level shouldn't need a teaching aid like this.
  10. The coach, he designed the ball to help with ball drop. To change players at this age ball drop and action is extremely difficult and really shouldn't be something an AFL club should need to do
  11. These are meant to be the elite players of the sport, to use a coaching aid that is designed to teach kids is a bit worrying. To get to this level you should be able to execute the basics of the game at a very high level, to me this says we need to re-teach a number of players to kick.
  12. Can't believe an AFL club is using the Mark Williams Ball, this is the one with the yellow line up the middle to teach kids how to drop the ball correctly
  13. Weiderman look big across the Shoulders. He gets first hands on the ball hopefully in 2020 we see him strong enough to mark the ball more
  14. The west Aussie boys leave Perth mid 30's degrees arrive at training what would feel like mid arctic conditions

The trade Draft period has been extremely successful for our club, I'm a B+ but that could quickly turn into an A depending if Harley Bennell gets through pre-season. He is that outside class if fit and in right frame of mind, serious ability and moves like silk. Lots of boxes need to be ticked off but getting Bennell right would really be the cherry on top of a pretty good period.
  16. Maybe just add in Pickett to bring the height average down and add an element of a player that wants to hit players hard
  17. Would have been great to get Young and Jackson, then make our social home Young and Jackson pub. Spoke to a couple of contacts in WA about this kid most said think Jeff White great leap good mark but more agile. Wasn't a fan of taking him at 3 as we need players that can kick and keep the football, hopefully he can have that impact we need early as a forward ruck, then later as a Ruck.
  18. That's good he will fit in well with the rest of his team mates.

No one would have us taking Jackson at 3, not one journo or draft expert had Jackson anywhere near top 3.

Everyone is backing Taylor on the back of 1 draft pick, who else has he drafted out of the box that is playing above expectations, it is a massive risk taking Jackson at 3 a West Aussie that most experts have outside the top 10. Go and look at who we have drafted outside Oliver from the 2015 draft onwards 4 drafts not much else
  21. drdrake replied to Whispering_Jack's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Can you clarify, Oliver and who else has he drafted. We haven't had a rising star nomination for 2 years
  22. As a couch expert we don't have many players on our list that can kick, todays game is keeping the football, we can't kick so can't keep the football, therefor game plan falls over. There is no such thing as a messiah in Football, you need a team playing a team game, we need players whether this is Young or not, who can first win the football and second have the disposal skills to keep it.
  23. So latest rumour reported in the Sun we won't bid on Green to take Jackson, because GWS won't match the bid and we will be stuck with Green and GWS will take Jackson with 4. Something is a little smelly at the moment, if we hand GWS Green and Young we have to be to most stupid club every, which really is our drafting history
  24. drdrake replied to Whispering_Jack's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
So we take Jackson then wait for West Coast and Fremantle to come after him, face that same Jesse Hogan/ Tom Scully talk everytime he is out of contract. Young is a player we need, footy smart and kicks the ball extremely well
  25. MIght be more of an indication on who we will take at pick 3, a quick, marking Half Back with a great kick
