Now for the two West Aussie boys, the Eagles will be on the hunt to replace NicNat and Hurn.

Scott Morrison can just sit back and watch a State Labour government self destruct in the upcoming months. As long as NSW doesn't get out of control the PM coudn't care about Victoria. Health in general not just mental health is a massive issue. On top of the mental health issues you will have a big percentage of overweight especially in kids, people are neglecting to go to their doctor so early detection of Cancer and Heart Disease which can save people lives. The flow on effect from these harsh lockdowns are going to be with us for many years. On crowds, you are going to have a good percentage of the population that will not want to attend big mass gatherings until there is a vaccine. We are lucky with the MCG that hopefully by next March/Apr we can get 25,000 thousand to a game then up to 50K is the virus doesn't take off again. Must admit, getting back to the MCG to watch the Dees is the last thing on my priority list at the moment, just want to see some sort of normality for work, community sport and exercise.

So we know Pies/Dogs/Saints then most likely R17/18 Freo/Swans, Essendon looks like Rd15 so leaves GWS as R16 Next 2 weeks are vital to playing finals, come away with 2 wins and we are right in the hunt, 2 losses ends our chances 1 win 1 loss makes it really hard but still can win 4 out of last 5 to make it.

Wallace: Dees Stunted Weideman’s Development
drdrake replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we would have destroyed him if he played as a Key Forward in our 2019 season, no big forward stood a chance with the way we delivered our ball inside our 50m arc. He was up and about in the back half of 2018, Tom was firing like our side, we moved the ball fast and kicked to the advantage of our forwards, he showed us what he can do when a team is on song. Same as this year, he is getting rewarded for working hard, as long as our mids are on top he will get a crack at playing well, if we return to our bombing like to an out number he will struggle. Would love for him to just clunk a few more marks, he is getting good purchase on the footy that is the next step, if they stick and he backs his set shot routine he is capable of kicking bags, would love to see a 7 goal bag this week. -
He isn't a forward, just because you can tackle doesn't mean you can play that forward pressure role. You are looking at this to try and fit guys in the side. Viney is in our midfield line up, same as Brayshaw/Oliver/Petracca and others they will all spend time resting on the bench and up forward, we need another exciting creative small forward, not a hard nosed midfielder to fill this role. Also if Brayshaw is good enough and in form to have the 4 prog midfielders is ideal, lets not get to carried away he played well against North, prior to that he should have been dropped. Lets see him play consistent high quality football for the next 7-10 games and assess from there.

Really, the guys is a midfielder not a forward. You need players with genuine speed and a creative mindset to play that small forward role. I'm surprised that after the way Kosi and Bedford played in Round 1 we haven't seen that combination since. I wonder if Bedford didn't come back in good condition after the first lock down we haven't really heard of him either being considered. The other is Chandler I didn't mind his couple of games he played last year, quick, tackled well and had a bit of X factor about him. We need to stop looking at playing guys in roles that they don't really fit. Brayshaw on a wing, Harmes off Half Back, Jones one a wing, Tmac down back. Brayshaw/Viney/Oliver/Petracca/Swallow all can fit into our midfield rotations, the biggest issue we have with our mids is the ability to work both ways, having 5-6 players that can work through there means there is no excuses as you will get the rest you need.

Dunn deserves to finish off with a good run of games. Hopefully he doesn't win to many as we will be looking to replace them in the 8.
-
Ok still an upgrade on current ladder positions
-
We also have our second round pick that is linked to I think where Fremantle finish. So essentially from trading/drafting not including Free agency, as it stands our second round pick will be 4-5 spots better, we added in Jackson/Pickett and Langdon add in Rivers and so far we are pretty happy with our 2019 Trade and Draft period
-
Best thing is we have 6 days off. It wouldn't hurt us for Jackson to run with Grundy if Gawn is still injured, Grundy is the similar type of player to Jackson, and would be a great learning experience for him. Viney comes in for AVB, AVB is off the mark at the moment and needs a spell. Tmac for Gawn if fit.

Great to get the win, it was a must win game and have to admit the confidence wasn't that great until half way through the third quarter. We had our chances to kill the game a lot earlier than we did and that is something we need to improve for the next 7 games. I can't understand the Viney v Brayshaw debate, you need more than 3 midfielders in your side and in form Viney and Brayshaw both in the team will only make us better. I like Rivers, composed when he adjusted to the pace attacked the footy and has some speed about him

Malthouse’s Damning Assessment of Another Wasted Year

I think we have addressed this though, Paul Roos went hard on our conditioning and you can see that in a number of players now. The other points we havent addressed -
Malthouse’s Damning Assessment of Another Wasted Year
drdrake replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The only comment that was a real crack was the melbourne storm sweat on the gym floor, not ours. That is a whack as you control how hard you work. The rest is on repeat on every article about Melbourne for the past 20 years. We are all frustrated that we can't address the ongoing issues at our club. -
Pretty big game a win will see us jump to 9th a lose really will be the end of any finals for us.

It happens in all sports have a look at horse racing, a leading jockey shirt fronts a couple if horses which caused a fall with 1 horse dead and a jockey with a lot of broken bones. A lesser credentialed jockey gets 3 months, this bloke gets 4 weeks. Double standards everywhere, this was a 2 week action, the only difference to this tackle and others is the concussion

I saw Kobe Farmer has had a couple of good games playing for South Fremantle colts, be nice if we could get both in 2021 -

AFLW Off Season News / 2021 Preseason
drdrake replied to Dees_In_October's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
With the footy frenzy we are in for the men, our women's side is cleaning out is going a little unnoticed. This is a smart move, anyone that follows AFLW can see the standard of young top end talent coming into the competition is a lot better now. Cleaning out like we are doing to get a number of top 25 picks will only better our side. We still seem to have a strong list and adding the injection of youth will only strengthen our side in 2021. -
6 Oliver 5 May 4 Viney 3 Langdon 2 Lever 1 Trac

ANB gets 2 weeks, AVB looks out and Lockhart wasn't moving that well at the end of the game. Not sure who the 7 players that travelled with the team are. For me based around the suspension and injuries Out ANB, AVB, Lockhart(injured?) In Pickett, Rivers, one of Bedford/Chandler/Jordan Would like to see a bit of speed in our forward line, Weiderman to his credit is competing in the air, most of the time the ball his coming to ground a couple of fast front and square forwards will really balance our forward line.
-
Lots of passengers at the moment. Crows are smashing us just not on the scoreboard. If we keep them in this game they will beat us
-
Wasn't really that deep, pretty much an outsider making a pretty basic comments. Why do we not have the forward 50m pressure, simple our players have pushed to high up the ground and we are always kicking to a 1 v 3. Our ball movement is appalling and doesn't give our players the confidence to work hard forward as they know we are likely to turn the footy over and their player is waiting over the back for an easy transition. Until we can address our skill level, no matter what game plan it will be ineffective. We have to control the football, once you control the football you can dictate on how the game is going to be played.
-
North already have a midfield of Brayshaw type of players that is why they are down near the bottom with us. We need to take the Paul Roos attitude this trade period everyone is on the table for the right price.
-
Ok he is worth about pick 25 plus Melbourne picking up 100k of his wage. Easy to say trade but would anyone do this deal
-
I have been saying this for a number of years it starts at the players we draft and trade, with either have picked up players that can get the footy but can't kick or skilful players that can't get the ball. Then it flows into development, we just don't seem to see players progressively improve, Petracca and Max is the exception build has been great but is that more the build from the injury. The rest seem to come in and stay at the same level a few peaks but these are short bursts of games and can't continue to build season on season. Then game plan, we are predictable nothing changes, we have to many 1-2m handballs that just add pressure instead of releasing the running player. Teams know we will self destruct our skills will let us down with a little bit of pressure. They allow us to outnumber at the contest and sit back waiting for the errant kick which will come.
