  1. Great idea that must grow if Jimma's idea that Melbourne can become the premier sporting club going around. Let's get Members in Darwin.

I do hope one day we can get 40-50,000 supporters at the G for an interstate game, but right now that is a long ay off.

  2. surely the club has learnt from the experience of being burnt in 07, what the hell did 5 wins do for us that year?????? thats right it robbed us of an elite talent. surely the club has learned this and will not make the same mistake, i dont give a crap who labells us tankers, the dockers and eagles are already doing it, do you think they care.

Play the Youth and rest the players who have niggles

Don't Forget we Have a sick & recuperating President & ex Player at home right now, the boys want to win. Get used to it. I believe after round 22 we will have won 7 games. Before Jimma's Mishap coming out i was on the same page as you. But now it will not happen.

Liam Jurrah is going to kick a bag soon & i want to see it.

Long as the club can Find a good midfielder next year i will be cool.

  3. The players are playing Hard & True for Jimmy Stynes. We will win more games, you cannot blame the players.

But Looking at that draw we have a strong chance to win 7 wins at years end. Sadly Tom Scully will not be a demon the way things are.

He will be a Docker which makes me ill. But it is the way it is.

  4. Mick is a Moron.

Mick is not a moron at all, infact he is highly astute & just talking about what WE HAVE BEEN SAYING ALL YEAR!!

The system is wrong but while it exists we should take advantage of it as ALL clubs have done in the past.

I want DEEP september action from next year onwards...

  5. Cheering followed by singing, followed by victory doughnuts, follwed by the scared fact that if we then beat freo and the tigers bye bye scully.

Without Sylvia i don't think we will win. Port have picked a side to win. But i am in 2 camps on this one, watching Frank Grimes last Saturday, He wants to win. He wants to learn how to win so i would not begrudge the Team that.

Deep down i want those Draft Picks though. In the years to come we may well need that 1 & 2.

It is in the hands of the coaches box.....

  6. Thirdly, I think people talking about finals next year are in for a potential reality check. Given the list will still be so young it is possible that we could be in for a tough year next year. I hope we can reflect significant improvement next year but I would be surprised if there was a quantum leap next year that would involve finals action.

You could well be right RR But i still think with the influx of the 2 new teams next year-This club must Aim High, as there will be no more hiding under the Radar. I don't mean pushing players unreasnoably, what i mean is the Football dept must set a High Standard of excellence & Stick to it-enough of the young kids have a taste of senior footy now.

I bet the players are getting pretty tired of losing judging by the way they belted out the song last sunday.

our success rate in 2010 will be very interesting-we must continue to grow Membership & that means we Must be competitive. Bailey is right with that word-it says it all.

Last Saturday the Team went after the Ball-Hunted. The Weak before they almost ran away from the Ball.

I know which Game plan i want to see next year.

    2010 Do it For Jimma.....

  7. OK guys, after watching Colin Kick goals on the run from 50-55 meters out on the run for the last few months i believe that this is his trademark and i get really excited when i see him with the ball in his hands having a ping for goal from beyond the ark, do you agree with me by saying that this is fast becoming his trademark? also it is fast becoming his weapon, the goal he kicked on the weekend was probably a 60-65 meter kick which split the middle, i would back him with my last $20 to kick the goal on the run!!!

    do you agree?

I am Waiting for a few of those long Bombs in september months before i say too much. I want Col to be a Big Game Player. He Owes us & Himself a Few..

  8. hawkins only chance to make it is if he gets angry. he needs to bully players around, push, pull and muscle. if he wants to last he needs to use his bulk, find some aggression and dominate using his strengths. he isn't built like reiwoldt so nobody should expect him to play like that.

Give Brad Miller the Angry Pills instead of Hawkins. At least we know Brad gives it his all. Hawkins is a DUD of the highest order at this stage. I doubt i will be proved wrong.

Yep lets keep working with Miller.

  9. Robbo has allready been told by Bailey he wont be resignsed by the club and has agreed to play with his mate Yze in the Shepperton league. ( think thats where Yze is from) before you all ask who my source is , its Tim from City of Manningham council whos mate is good mates with the Yze. tell me when im wrong.

Very Early Call on that one-I shall wait & be very interested in the outcome. The way Robbo went hard for the ball on saturday looked to me as if he wanted to play september one more time.....

  10. I must Purchase a DVD of the Game. I was there & do not wish to let it slide into the past Completely. I lost my Voice for the Boys & Jimma...

And certain journalists keep reciting that we MFC Supporters show little Passion!!!! [censored] Off. Demons Rule.

  11. If Robbo stiill has the Spring in his ankles at years end he should get another 12 months for sure, we will no doubt lose a lot of older players at years end. I don't think it would be wise to get rid of all our older players in one sweep.

But lets wait till years end-8 more games for the players to prove their worth to the coaching staff, Board & us the members.

I reserve all judgement until after Round 22.

  12. I too am a bit split on this one......

He should have served a suspension. I mean seriously you really shouldn't be able to punch a guy in the guts, miles off the ball and be rewarded with a Grand Final appearance.

That being said I wanted the Swans to win so having him there was of great benefit.

The AFL wanted Sydney to win that Flag no doubt. The same thing happened in '96 with Dunkley. Remember they had the Hearing after the GF! What a joke.

If the same thing Happened at a Melbourne club a suspension would have been given.

Festival Hall will be remembered as a cheap Thug & nothing more.....

  13. This is the first time i have been near a PC since last week.

Just want to pass on good strong energy to you Jimma. All of us at Melbourne consider you "Family" & as such hope you make a Full Recovery.

Seeing Junior Hold up your original 37 Guernsey was trully inspiring. Rest up Big Fella & eat well.

This will be a long Tough Road make no mistake, but those challenges are nothing new to you, I am Planning to re read your book from the '90's after i have completed The "Red Fox"

I want to see Our Captain, Our Coach & President Jim Stynes Hold a Premiership Cup high in the Air at The MCG in years to come.....It Will Be Done.

  14. Played a Cracker last saturday, & that is what he should aim for each week.

Robbo is a perfect scenario for the 1 year incentive based contract next year. 2011 is up to him.

  15. I am still FURIOUS he was allowed to play in the 2005 Grand Final Side. Hall is & always was a cheap Dog (remember 1998 First Semi Against the Saints???-I do).

Good Riddance to you Festival. How dare you wear a premiership Medallion.....

  16. Two words stick out like a beacon when i think back to that game- Clint Bizzell. Remember his remarkable solo effort down the wing; just pure determination and guts. I will never forget that passage of play, breathtaking.

Also, remember Robbo kicking about 5 behinds (in his 100th game, i think?) and knocking Adem Yze out in the last quarter when Yze was running hot. Not one to remember...

I got so drunk that night i fell over and chipped my tooth running across the road on the way home.

Clint Bizzel should always be highly regarded at Melbourne-He Gave his heart & soul to that Back line. Pity we didn't win a flag with him (and Peter Vardy) Both Class Footballers

  17. Poor old West Coast.

Someone forgot to tell Natanui that they were tanking.

but with 4 teams just above us on the ladder with 4 or less wins there is no way I am looking for a win this Saturday.

And as for our form over the last month. If ever there was a team that was going to hit a brick wall in the last month

it was Melbourne, who started the pre season so long ago and who put every thing into being competitive

over the pre season and the early matches with such a young team. I just don't think it is the time to be evaluating

every player and every piece of play. No one is going to look that good with very little going on about them.

And don't forget, there are other teams apart from those four above us who could quite easily decide to put the queue in the rack.

It is not just up to Dean Bailey to decide to list manage and everything will be fine.

Its only west Coke we need to worry about with wins as they won 4 games last year, so they are the only immediate worry to our picks.

  18. Yeah, I remmeber Sportsplay. I remember they took over the broadcast rights from channel 7. Might have been 1987? And the ABC picked up the FTA coverage. I think.

It's terribly disappointing that channel 7 pretty much dumped all their video tape of the footy throughout the 70s and 80s. They pretty much only kept the finals games. I really can't believe they did it. Whoever it was that made that decision was terribly short sighted. People would pay good money now to have some of those classic home and away games on DVD.

It was sadly a case of not enough space. Those old Video Reels were 2 inch Tape and thus very big, They just didn't have room-they were also quite expensive so many would have been re used.

Sad that Ch 7 can't run some of that stuff late night.

Mike Williamson & Jack Edwards Bluey Adams-He was a great Commentator. The Chimp Bob Skilton

  19. One of my strangest football memories was at that first final against Nth Melbourne. A Melbourne supporter sitting in the seat in front of me had a porno magazine, I mean real Xrated gear, and was flicking through it like it was the most normal thing in the world. We were beating Nth by about 20 goals. Wasn't that pornographic enough?

HaHa! That is beautifully Bizzare. That day was surreal, When Flower Ran through the Banner you could feel the energy inside the ground like a tidal wave. Superb Day

I got that game on VHS as well. Had to buy it from sportsplay. Remember them???

  20. Yeah, I've got the second half on tape somewhere too. I keep meaning to get all my old tapes converted to DVD. I guess I will one day. The 88 Prelim is probably my second favourite day at the footy behind Round 22 87 out at the Western Oval.

Yep i almost agree with that, apart from that actual First Final in '87 when we had actually made it. Walking into the G was a proud moment. I felt like my dad did back in the '50's.

When Viney kicked that Early Goal The MCC reserve went off.

  21. 1990 was our best chance. McAlister said in his book that he feared facing the Dees in the GF. We also had a week off after beating Hawthorn twice in a row, which was quite a feat.

But then Strawbs injured Gazza at training and another dream came to an end.

We had the talent to prevail in 1994 but the Eagles had even more and the PF was played in Perth.

Collingwood owe us big time for 1990 & they know it. Hawthorn killed them regularly in that era.
