I felt they were taking the [censored] a little bit on the Nathan Buckley topic. Maybe just desperation to have someone other than Simon.

    I am also desperate 😅😭

Big Changes are needed, there’s no doubt. Last Year’s Review was a sham, so the problems, whatever they are, have got worse. I am just interested to hear guys talking, who are 30 years younger than me, I don’t want them to go through the pain that i went through Decade after Decade.

This Current Situation could well be the Fork in the Road

He is very reliable. One of our few

He is not very damaging or quick but with an efficiency over 90% his kicks land.

the constant criticism of Salem is baffling to me. He is not our best player but he is solid and the least of our problems. With the issues we have such as the forward line and midfield it is bizarre that Salem gets singled out

Salem is one of our Major Problems

He no longer attacks off Half Back with any quick penetration

He accumulates possessions but doesn’t do a lot with them

I’m a subscriber to the DeeBrief but their content can be very reactionary

And sometimes it’s just hard to get through because they won’t stay on topic for more than a minute before someone else jumps in

Regardless they’re just Dees fans going through it at the moment like we all are - and FWIW I agree with the overall sentiment on the need for change

But if your answer is Nathan Buckley then it’s a good thing you’re not at the club making these decisions đŸ€Ł

Yes the Buckley talk was certainly overdone

Out of all the passionate nonsense these guys were dribbling on this podcast, I nearly crashed my car when they all agreed Buckley was the ideal Goodwin replacement. How many coaches have won premierships coaching their second team this century?

I get some supporters find this stuff cathartic, but 95% of the conversation either contradicted something said earlier in the pod, or just made no rational sense whatsoever.

I agreed with about 90% of what they said

I'm on the job hunt at the moment. Came across an opportunity on SEEK at the club. Location: Cranbourne.

Absolutely no offense to anyone that lives out that way. But how can the club seriously compete for talent across all areas of the club if it's seriously trying to tempt people to work there?

No public transport access. Horrendous traffic. Not to mention not the prettiest place in the world. Your talent pool is limited to maybe a 10km radius for a place like that. For people that live in Frankston area it might be appealing but even for those in the south East closer to the Bay... getting out there can be a real pain.

It's a shame because the job ticked all boxes for me, I'd have loved to apply. I live 8km from the CBD. It would take me 1hr 10 mins to get to Cranbourne... now. At 10:30pm. It's no wonder why it came up in the whole Petracca fiasco last year. It never really clicked for me why it was such a big deal until I saw "Cranbourne" written under a job ad for the Melbourne Football Club. How embarrassing.

Sorry again for anyone out that way, no offense but it is a joke.

We were thrown Casey back in the Day, because nobody else wanted it.

    It’s Ground Zero out there

Hope that wasn't expensive...otherwise talk about burning money.

You have to wonder what really was the brief.

    Results to date... ???

I suppose we have to wait till season's end. Apparently the results this year on top of recent which spell out T.. R ..E.. N.. D just aren't convincing enough.

I hope we don't look back in Spike Milliganesque manner... if you know the Tombstone quote ... you'll understand.

I didn’t say we should do nothing.

I was simply talking about whether it’s all the Coach’s fault and should we burn possibly close to a million dollars, or examine what else can be improved.

I think we need to examine all the parts unemotionally, which I am not convinced you are suggesting, then do what is needed to get success.

    I agree with you Red.

But wasn’t all that done last during the offseason??

    I’m Victorian
I haven’t felt disenfranchised watching State of Origin. There are the Storm players to watch, for a start. I think the same will apply to WA supporters in the near future. I don’t care if the NRL premier comp struggles, I’m an AFL supporter. I’m remembering the great interstate clashes of the past that allowed we MFC supporters to watch Robbie weave his magic for the big V when we were a basket case in our own comp. There will soon be 10 AFL teams who are not going to make the finals in any one year. State of Origin gives those supporters the opportunity to see their stars perform at the highest level.

State of Origin works because the 2 States involved genuinely Hate each other.

    It’s Real.

State of Origin can only work between 2 States

One point, we are not in crisis yet, 4/5 wins to finish and we will appear like a team on the way up.

Doesn’t mean so much when the pressure is off. We can’t make September

I prefer winning to losing games, but these last 7 games must be given the correct context.

    In all seriousness
in footy and even in life ..you plan
you train and it all looks pretty good. Then comes the intangibles which you can’t control
key injuries at the wrong time ..players just simply out of form
& to quote Goody simply trying to meld the old & young with a new game plan. I’m totally disappointed with the season because I reckon if one of Trac or Clarry had played to their potential & if one of May or Lever didn’t get injured ,.I firmly believe that would have been enough to make the 8 but I had no illusions that we would go deep, I have seen enough of our game plan to see an exciting 2026 going forward. What is irrefutable is that Goody has the players back & they have Goody’s back. Put me in the “hand clapping majority”.. I don’t really care. I truly believe Goody will be coach next year.

But it does my head in that the usual “Top Clubs” are always up there, regardless of the speed humps. They dip for a maximum 1 year and then Climb straight back up. But not the MFC

Guys are getting paid around $ 1Mill a year inside this Club (Certain Coaches and Players) so i expect a far better output

So many other Clubs just get on with it

According to all the critics, we didnt need to trade in A grade talent because our list, which Goody obviously destroyed, was so absolutely wonderful. At least, that's the theme. Brisbane, WB, Geelong, and GWS supporters might have had the heretical view that their lists were as good as, or even better, than ours.

Of course, it is possible that the list was very good but not perfect and that Goody did a great job in winning a premiership.

But why were we not able to attract A Grade Talent? List Management and Free Agency is critical every off season
.

we certainly let some very good players go, and they were replaced by Casey Regulars (Grundy aside, that’s a different discussion) 4 Years on and we have won 6 of 28 games.

We cannot go into next year with the same Template

What you fail to understand is that “true” supporters also like to look for positives & hope. That does not mean we don’t get bitterly disappointed when we lose or we don’t question the coaches but you seem to think your analysis of a “true” supporter means you must show negativity and blame. Goody will be coach next season and who knows how many pages this embarrassing thread will be up to by seasons end ..guess it just makes you feel better and “cranky”.

Do you think this years performance is acceptable DS?

You are quite happy to let things roll on into Season 26?

    You like losing ?

    I don't

    You can’t win hey BZB

Even when you say you hate losing certain people still vomit at your answer.

I Hate losing too, it sucks, particularly when 4 years ago, we were the number 1 Team in the Country, by a fair margin.

Such a shame we couldn’t trade in some A Grade Talent after ‘21. I am still wondering why that didn’t happen
