  1. A healthy mind would understand this.....Brock is a clearance king.

We have Recruited some Great Kids. But the Job is only 80% done. And if it isn't completed when chances are given, once again we will achieve limited Success. Losing in week 1 of finals Pi$$es me right off!

  2. Thats why we need 2 topline midfielders. If we get Scully he'll cop a heavy tag quickly. If we have more damaging mids, they can't all get the No1 tagger.

Correct Brock can do the Pack Work, & get it out to the Speedy Legs of our Draft Picks. Why Doesn't everybody UNDERSTAND this!!!!

  3. Agree with this, sort of. Of the four, Brock is definitely the one worth persisting with. To be fair, Davey was tagged out of the game too. Brock needs a preseason next year, needs to do whatever it takes to get him fully fit. I thought he was playing injured until the past two weeks when he showed no signs of it. Players who star against the duds and disappear against the top teams are a liability, but Brock definitely deserves another season to see if he can play well against top teams. If he can, he'll be valuable for the future.

I think too that if Bruce is to be criticised for his delivery, so should Jones and probably Moloney. Though at least they get the hard ball.

Robbo I feel sorry for. Hard to blame him for being not tall enough or fast enough for a key forward. But he's another who might do well against bottom teams but go missing against top opposition. We just can't afford that in 2010 and beyond. And that's the point.

Too many of melbournes "Legends" go Walkabout in big games. That's why know one rates us. Its just not a viable excuse.

I Love Robbo & hope he is always welcome within the club but, can we carry him next year........I am not sure.

  4. Why ? he played a ripper did he not :P

This obsession with getting big ..... haha but yes he needs to put on a bit more bulk. Not quite sure how to take the face you put on the end :D

He is still a boy, he needs to build some Muscle but not to much. But he can play. He will be good

  5. Information provided by a REAL BATTLER! ( Battling to understand what it takes to be an elite AFL player. Absolutely no respect for three of our best players. Mr Know All Negative poster of the century. Quick to criticize , slow to praise.

I well remember reading the Paper last year when Y.M. was Quoted off this very site. Talking about Draft Picks & what we missed out on.

I totally agreed with what was said.

This Club has recruited well but still needs to Recruit More, then Toughen up.

The 4 players mentioned have been around a long time, & have had many chances to stamp Authority on the club.

No doubt they have given there all, but ultimately fallen short.

"The Times they are a changing"

  6. I think it is funny how people give YM a reaction. Big deal he has a slightly over the top view on some players, if you don't like it get over it.

Y.M. calls it as he sees it, some people cannot deal with that.

In some ways it is a reason why the club has floundered for 45 years

  7. Agree with YM.

Our Rucks don't inspire me either!

Perform or move on, time for our club to toughen up - a lot!

    Selectors included.

Yes Exactly. The Whole Club Must Perform & be Fair But Ruthless otherwise we are wasting our Time..

  8. Solid performance against a strong side. The boys didn't throw in the white flag after a poor first quater, which was brave.

I still think we struggled connecting rebound 50's to Forward 50 entries.

Yes our midfield is woeful against top opposition, which is why we must recruit class next year.

  9. I thought that's what everyone wanted at this stage of the season.

If YM is right, most people on this forum should be begging that these players are played for the remaining games.

Point Taken but i don't wish an injury to get worse. Brock has a Big Heart, But he was completely Pants today. It was quite sad to watch.

  10. Freo vs Brisbane tonight.

The game is in Perth, so lets hope Freo can produce an upset.

The 2 W.A. sides will not win another game this year apart from the derby. It's a disgrace The Coke Eagles won a flag 3 years ago!!

  11. Hey, i think we are being too harsh on Brock, the guy hasnt done a pre season in 2 years so of course he is out of sorts, slow, going backwards etc. Give him a full pre season working on speed and what not and you will notice the difference! ease up ppl

So Don't Play Him! He only Retards the Team as a whole......

  12. AFL website has him in our best YM.

    BEST

Geelong: Selwood, Scarlett, Ablett, Chapman, Ling, Enright, Hawkins

Melbourne: Green, Grimes, Petterd, Bruce, Moloney

Maybe it is time you open your eyes and stop being so biased. His disposal efficiency was actually the same as Moloney's today at 67%. He is our vice captain, reigning best and fairest and good chance for this year's best and fairest, for a reason. As for his future he is 29 and barely ever had a soft tissue injury. There is no reason therefore why he shouldn't keep a spot in our side for 3-4 more years.

I do however agree that McDonald and Robertson should retire. Mclean has been good the last few weeks and had a bad day but let's keep things in context, he's playing in a B grade midfield against the competition's best. He is still one our best players.

Bruce's Disposals today had very little influence on the game. He Tries very hard, but He is not a PRO ACTIVE player when it counts.

And as VC should no better after 200 Games

  13. YM is a disgrace and should be banned forever.

Brock has not improved in three years.

Junior and Bruce have there best behind them. Bruce is still capable of very good play and displays it occasionally. Junior not so much. Club champs at their end. YM should be on his knobbly little knees thanking them for their service and willing sacrifice.

    Robbo is done, see above.

And for all those fools thinking that we're great team waiting or that bailey cannot coach, today was a nice indication of what we need and why we cannot win. We do not have a midfield.

Why call Y.M. a disgrace when he is just being Brutally Honest.

This club has carried players for too long. Some have been great, but have still played 1-2 seasons too long.

If we wish to play Deep in september we must get tough with player output. They are well paid to do a tough job.

Some make it & some don't. That's Life.

  14. Absolutely agree on Jurrah Grimes Bennell and Morton, but i'm surprised nobody has mentioned Bate. He was really good today, kicked some great goals and put on a lot of pressure up the ground. He may have been crap early in the season, but lately he's been showing a lot. If he keeps this up he's definitely going to be sticking around.

Master Bate played an excellent game today. Put him in front of a class Midfield & he will perform no doubt.

  15. Time for some home truths about some real battlers.

Russell Robertson - is well and truly finished. There was talk on the commentary if he should get another contract next year. I can only assume they were kidding. Spends more time lying on the ground with fake injuries than running around getting a kick.

Cameron Bruce - a laughable effort today in his 200th. Classic dinky hand passes putting team mates under pressure, constant fumbles, running from contests. It was all there on display today. Who was the genius that gave him a 3 year deal? Untradeble as no other team will touch him.

Brock McLean - his career is going backwards at a rapid rate. Can not handle a tag. Time for the coaching staff to give him an ultimatum. Shape up or ship out. Completely out of the running for next skipper, thats for sure.

James McDonald - has given plenty to the MFC over the years, and has put his body on the line time and time again. But the game has passed him well and truly. I suspect he knows this, and will hang up the boots at years end.

Very astute Comment Y.M. We are crying out for quick midfielders, today showed that so well.

Those who make excuses about Mclean, Look hard. The last 2 games we played against weakened midfields. When the heat was on against a september midfield Brock took annual leave.

Bring on the Draft so the Backline & Forward line can Shine.........

  16. For all that is written on this site on the topic, you still cant get it right.

Teams that have won premierships in the past decade have done so when having at least 2 stars or more. If MFC is going to be successful and challenge for a flag it needs to develop stars. It does not have any. We have the opportunity to access the best young talent in the country for the first time in 12 years and who is highly rated and decorated and has evey opportunity ot not only be a star but also to be probably the bext thing to hit our midfield in at least 20 years.

MFC needs to take every opportunity to add further talent to the list of young players we have. Drafting in the future with GC and WS coming means there is not going to be another opportunity to readily accessthe best young talent in the country.

And rpfc is right. MFC has had the rack in the cue since end of 2007. We should not deviate from the further development of our talent pool.

I would have thought Hawthorn, Geelong and St Kilda this year might have provided a worthy test case.

FWIW, I think Carlton are not there with Judd and Kruezer. Outside their top 6 they have too many on their list that are about as good CJ.

Great Post RR, trouble is this year there are too many teams trying to do the same thing. Way out before seasons end, & i don't think we are the 16th ranked side, the 2 W.A. sides will only win one more game between them (the Derby-coz they have too!)

    Fascinating weeks ahead.

  17. Pello. Don;t worry! From here in Yuendumu, and Yuendumu Footy Club, we can tell you that Liam is in Melbourne on Warlpiri business, with the full support of his community. And that is for as long as he wants it, which we know he wants to be 10-15 years of AFL footy for the Dees. He won;t be being pulled back to Yuendumu we are immensely proud of what he is doing and the leadership and inspiration he is showing to all Warlpiri youth by being in Melbourne. He is a fantastic role model for all remote Indigenous youth who can dare to dream, work hard and hold faith to make their dreams come true.....There is no better way for him to serve his community and tribe than what he is doing in Melbourne and the honourable and joyous way he is doing it.

And we also know that with the support he is receiving down there from RudeBoy, Rupert B, and Melbourne FC (especially Aaron, Aussie, Wheels and Ian Flack, Dean Bailey) that he is very happy. They are all part of our Warlpiri family.

    GO JUKURTAYI! ALL YUENDUMU PROUD!

We the Supporters are Honoured that Liam Jurrah is playing with the melbourne football club. I cannot wait to see him play at the MCG with a full crowd. Liam will just play the same way.....

  18. I love the dees, I love them so much I want them to be thumped by Geelong!

Me must loose and loose big. I want Scully and 3. I want to see our supporters excited! I want to hear opposing teams say "watch out for the dees". I want to see out list feared!

YES, but what an outside chance it is now sadly.
