  1. When I saw the title of the thread I knew you'd be spouting your dribble. I'll tell you what let us down today and it wasn't the coach. Our forward line is led by Junk time Robertson who should be shelved immediatly for bringing the club into disrepute. After that we have no forward line. Our supposed leaders in JMac and Bruce are pale shadows of their now distant best. Our midfield was made to look one paced (slow) and we don't have an AFL standard ruckman. That doesn't leave all that much for a coach.

On the plus side I thought Grimes continued his impressive development. Sylvia is finally performing at the level he is capable of on a regular basis. Davey continues to have his best year. I think Bate, Warnock, Cheney, even Maric all showed enough for me to remain hopeful. We massively overhyped the game which gave Collingwood all the ammunition they needed to hit us hard, which they did. To right off the coach is absurd to a level thankfully only seen by a few posters on this sight, led ably by our man Mo. Now lets move on to Tom Sc.......

    Correct thread. I agree.

My one worry was that collingwoods squad was collectively 5 years younger than ours. That really concerns me. Bails must now get Tough. Real Tough.

  2. Junior has been a great player for our club for a long time, & shall always be highly regarded. BUT the Game has overtaken him this year & i think he should retire now, as i do not want to see him play badly. He is now brushed aside by opponents & his kicking often does not hit targets putting defenders under pressure. As if they are not under enough pressure already!!

Collingwoods overall age was 5 years younger than ours!! Amazingly But it was us who was running around headless for 3 Quarters, while other players like Junior were unsighted.

James Mac should be sitting in the Box with Dean Bailey. We need him, but his time on the Turf is over.

    My opinion...........

  3. The best one has been the humble pie that "flipper of Richmond" of "HeraldSun readers comments" fame must have had to eat in rather large servings. It all looked so good until the first bounce of the season :lol:

Rumours coming down the wires are that Melbourne's search for a major sponsor is over, with Visy coming to the party. Dick Pratt was overheard saying "we need to keep someone in the competition that we can beat". Posted by: Flipper of Richmond 9:04am January 28, 2009

DemonDud - sorry mate I was busy yesterday. It's a fairly solid foundation you're dribbling from at the moment, considering you're slagging a team that completely destroyed your miserable lot by a combined total well into 3 figures last year. The media are the ones pumping up Cousins as the saviour - Richmond supporters know that we have recruited enough guns with a few seasons now under their belts to put us in the finals - Ben is just cream on top. Cousins cost us nothing in the draft - we were the only team with enough confidence to get the best out of him, just like you guys did with Byron Pickett - BWAHAHAH. As I said to that other cretin Matt of Crapbourne - when the Demons have won a game (great job on the weekend BTW), turn a profit, get more than 20k fans to a game, stop coming up with naff names for your pathetic plans to resurrect this inept, terminally broke collection of no-names, start posting back on this forum. Until then, stop embarrassing yourself with 9th jokes that are as worn out as the '150 year defence' used as justification to keep the Capinhanders in the comp post 2009. Flipper would have committed suicide by now! That Diatribe was written in January, Haven't the Tigers kicked on since then.

Death is too good for them...Keep this post. It's a classic...

"Richmond Recruited enough Guns with a few seasons under their belt to put us in the Finals!!!!".....WHERE & WHEN??? Bloody dipstick!!!!

  4. would not be surprised if there is a modern day football all in before the bounce

maxwell ud think would be the man to start it moloney to finish it

would people be disapointed if we had a few suspensions /fines as a result?

these days with bad records and carry over points tribunal history is important in the years to come

Would certainly make it difficult to win games in the 2nd Half of the season. So maybe its a good idea!!!!

And would certainly increase DVD sales of Mondays Game.

  5. . There's probably only two questions marks I have about the current list and that is another KP forward and elite midfielder. Furthermore, I also have full confidence in the current board and FD to get us out of financial ruin and put us up with the other powerhouses in the AFL.

    I

Sounds like the first two picks in the 2009 Draft for those positions!

  6. Ditto. He's an angry angry man when he's sticking up for his mates.

I don't think Collingwood will go too far out of their way to rough up Jack though. They'll give him a push and shove here and there. But if they're seriously concerned with unsettling a kid in his first game, then they haven't got their mind on the job. Would only be a good sign for us.

Not if it's done in the first 5 minutes-It would unsettle us more than them.

Just be a bit more accurate. And a good start would be to predict rain a bit less often....since it rarely happens.

Working for the BOM is the easiest job on the Planet. How often has it Rained in melbourne over the last 5 years???

The Dams are down to 26%, so not often!!!! The say its going to rain to cover their own Butts.

In 1958 Queens Birthday Melbourne Collingwood attracted 98,000+ people.

We will have a big crowd, it will be cold but it won't rain more than a sprinkle.

    80,000 i say.

  8. This fella is & will be the salt of the club.

Congratulations & well done Chris for the Casey arrangements & other footy issues.

    Your a beauty mate.

PS: can we please get Scully & The best Key Power Forward who is not one dimensional?

I agree, the Return of Connolly along with schwabb is just inspired.

For those to young to remember Connolly playing-he Bled for our club & was touted as captain material before he did the old knee.

Good on ya Chris. You were always far too good for the Shockers....

  9. Maxwell for mine as well. Traditionally, the 'sniper' is one of the lesser lights of the team who plays hard but lacks skill and is really no loss to the side should he be suspended. In Collingwood's case, the sniper is their captain. Gotta love that...

I also think Leigh Brown might try and throw some of his (ample) weight around and run thru the kid if he gets anywhere near him.

It's why i am suprised Miller was Dropped this week. For all his shortcomings he is a Big Boy.

The Filth will try to snipe i have no doubt....Lou Richards was their most Famous one.

  10. And from my recollection it was Collingwood and Eddie that started the snow season rubbish on The Footy Show, around the 2004 season.

    Go you Demons!!!

No it goes way back further than Eddiewood.

I remember references to it in the late 70's & Eighties. Might have even started in the 50's when we were loathed by all outsiders.

    Those days shall return....

  11. 10 kicks

    2 handballs

    12 disposals (83% effective)

    5 marks (1 contested)

    3.1 goals behinds

    2 tackles

    4 inside 50's

    1 goal assist

    1 free for

    0 frees against

    0 clangers

    From around 75% game time.

He'll kick a behind with his first kick in AFL (after hitting the post from 45m out, on the run, near the boundary), and a goal with his 2nd kick. The other 2 of his 3 goals will come in the last quarter, the first of them, coming early in the last, to put us in the lead for the first time since the 1st qtr, the second to ice the game around the 27 min mark... for the fairy-tale finish we all long for!

Dees to win by 19 points on the back of a perfect debut from JW.

Coincidentally, the final margin's the same as Watts' contribution to the score. Thus making Watts, THE difference! :D

Keep your Pants on Dude, it's still only friday!!!! Haha!

  12. Don't care about Quantity, That's not the point. Quality is the key

Even if he only has one kick- if it goes to where it is intended i will be rapt & jack will say "I can do this & i deserve to be on this Ground.

A couple of early touches would be Fantastic, His First Mark & Kick at Goal, if he can achieve that on Monday He will be rolling.

  13. Casey scorp would probably say that looking for games in Casey is a good way of expanding but, I am not sure about that.

What I am sure of is that there are no families in the city. No kids means no future members, which means it is pointless to spend time with the Melbourne City Council.

My Parents lived in the CBD for 10 years during the '90's (flinders Lane) There are loads of People living in the city, it's just that from the Footpaths they are not noticed.

  14. Does anyone read the comments on the Herald Sun website? I love the ones about us when everyones hanging crap on us. Saying we will be lucky to last the next 3 years (in relation to 30yr Casey deal) and should merge lol. People are also very one minded with the constant comments about our supporters going off to the snow. For me personally I never been. I cant wait to see what the comments will be like in 2-3 years or even next year for that matter.

    Go Dees

Same here!! I have never been to the snow as i F#$%^&king hate ultra cold weather & would love to see 4WD banned from Cities-Dangerous Beasts they are, as they are only designed for off road.

Who started this Snow season rubbish anyway??

  15. I don't think a little light rain will effect the crowd much this year. This game has been "Hyped" for the right reasons. People are starting to look at the MFC with just a little Respect now. The 'G will be pretty much full.

I know the MCC Reserve will, i will be arriving early.

EVERYBODY WEAR SCARVES & JUMPERS. So we can SEE our supporters.

  16. Stynes has made a couple of comments:

    * world class training venue (when referring to the range of facilities available in and around Casey Fields)

    * best facilities of any AFL club (when referring to the total range of facilities available to MFC)

I doubt that you could argue with either statement.

The facilities for MFC will be:

Casey Fields (pre-season and a weekly training session during the season)

    • full sized and fantastically maintained oval to be used by MFC and the Casey Scorpions

    • fully equipped gym, medical rooms, offices for footy department

    • 2.2 km criterium cycling track available for cross-training located 500 metres from the oval

    • all-weather regional athletics complex available for cross-training located 200 metres from the oval (to be built by October 2010)

    • $38 million aquatic and recreation facility 500 metres from the oval with gymnasium, pools spa, sauna etc (opening next weekend)

Rectangular Stadium (full time base, but major use during the AFL season)

    • State of the art strength and conditioning facilities shared with Melbourne Storm and Melbourne Victory

    • Access to the Gosch’s Paddock oval for on-field training 500 metres from the rectangular stadium

    MCG

    • Administrative and governance headquarters

    • Home matches

    • MCC relationship

    • Historic link

That’s not a bad package compared to what MFC has endured for 25 years.

Look out World...over the next 5 years here come the demons.

I also hope we sign some sort of deal with Darwin, as we have to expand. I also hope in time we can set up some marketing Ploys with the Melbourne City Council.

No wonder the Dogs are Pi$$ed off!!!

  17. The trend is fantatstic but we really need to consolidate with securing our future in Melbourne, at the G and add some silver wear to the cupboard before I cut loose with the celebrations.

I am with you Casey is for Summer Training & the 2's. The MCG & the new Facilities across the road are where the Serious Home land is.

  18. I'm trying to be Mr Cool...

Wait, that's not cool - to try and be cool...

I guess I'm still giddy like the rest of you freaks...

Not usually like this, but we don't usually have players like Watts...

This is the New Melbourne, We shall have many champions in the years to come-Just like the days 50 years gone.

We are Melbourne-The name of a great City.

  19. Stop it!

They're awful, especially that rip-off of an Oasis classic.

The giddyness around here is refreshing but quickly becoming annoying.

I know, Jack Watts is playing but keep your cool.

We should be non-plussed - "Yeah, Jack Watts is playing, and yeah, he will have a decade of Grimes, Maric, Bennell, and Morton kicking him the footy. What of it?"

(BTW, he will be on a wing and 15 touches and a couple of assists is all I can ask.)

Ease up we have won about 5 Games in 2 years so its kinda nice everybody is firing up.

    Stop being Mr Doom!

  20. Natanui (a dees supporter) posted this on bigfooty. i quite liked it:

Jack just walking to his the G for his debut... Nothin special for him..
