The Jack Viney Made Me Cry Thread
Sir Why You Little replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I’ve seen all those Players too. But Jack took it too another level. All the players you mentioned have never trained to the level of todays players, and i mean no disrespect to them. It’s a different game now. Viney’s intensity did not drop off. Players from the 70’s were not able to do that -
Take a Close look at the Final Series Last year. How Fit was the team in each of the 3 2nd halves we played, compared to the 3 opponents. Brisvegas were only in the 1st final because our goal kicking was not great. they were thrashed just like Jeelong and the Dogs…

The ramping up of training drills is designed to peak at the bye. Then the boys get the rest to refocus. So I suppose it’s a case of “get what you can” during that period. What i was worried about during those 3 losses was that our 3rd Quarters were flat, after a 20 minute break in each game. But Thursday was most pleasing

Possibly, any side playing for Top 4 will have looked at what Burgess (and Selwyn) did last year. We were at Peak fitness for September and pulling away

This Package deserves discussion. This is such an incredible effort by our 2IC Jack was brutal and focused for 4 Quarters. It is relentless. AFL Players play like this for a Quarter and get praised and rightly so. Jack did it all night, even in the last Quarter This is one of the greatest efforts from 1 player in the History of the MFC I am so proud of him Thanks for this Edit Mighty -

That has to be Jack’s best game after the GF. When he was demoted from the Captaincy I wondered how Jack would react. It would have been a tough time for him. But i have great respect for him. Max is the Captain and deservedly so Jack was a Magnificent Captain last night, when the side was under some growing pressure. The only way to dissipate that is to win strongly Jack was the man who led -
If she does apologize, can somebody please Record it and put it up here. it will be an epic moment in Earth’s History!! :)

Ask Darren Burgess about Loading. It’s a real thing and Selwyn learnt from the best. there was a month of INTENSIVE Training before the bye. With the intention that the team will peak in September. We had a flat period last year and then put the foot down. Worked a treat didn’t it. Back in the old days teams trained 2-3 nights a week

Last night will send shivers down other teams. Brisvegas are a good side. , not great. But last night was a proper hit out. The Loading phase fascinates me, not so much the losing of 3 games but the method of those losses. It was a totally different side last night. It’s a shame we sacrifice QB now, but September is what is remembered
