  1. Shortly after that, I think it was Daniel Harford who said a text had been received which said it was noted that when the team sang the song JH was in the background looking anything but happy. Reading too much into things I suspect. He probably wasn't happy because he wasn't out there on the day. But I have looked at the footage on the MFC website and I can't pick it up. Anybody else notice?
  2. Cyril is very lucky. The MRP will deem it to be no head contact, but it was a matter of millimetres.
  3. Oliver and Petracca are the future of this club. We have seen what bad player management and development did to our kids in the past. See Watts. Thankfully he survived being bastardised in the past and is now repaying the faith. I am confident in the way our Football Dept. is managing the kids. Short term pain for long term gain. We will get there
  4. Vince - is playing injured Watts - BOG for me N Jones - carries the load Yes, we won ugly, but we won.
  5. Ronnie Wood and his predecessor Mick Taylor? Ry Cooder is a pretty mean picker. And for what it is worth Rolling Stone Magazine rated Richards at number 4 in the top 100 guitarists. Not bad for a bloke who doesn't practise.
  6. As the old axiom goes, you play as you train. Simple. Based on your logic, we don't need skills coaches, we only need shrinks
  7. C'mon Bub. Your total goals should be etched indelibly in your memory and preserved for posterity's sake. I know how many I kicked in my career = 5 Then again, I was a half back flanker - and that's not meant to be rhyming slang - in the days when you stayed in your position
  8. How many goals did you kick Bub?
  9. Where was Russell Colcott that day?
  10. As I understood it at the time, his behaviour at several official MFC functions left a lot to be desired. Clearly the guy had some talent, but was never going to be a star. Accordingly, he set up his own 'publicity' machine, in an effort to make a few bucks. That machine, albeit a lot more slowly, continues to chug along, as witnessed by Open Mike.
  11. Bit harsh SWYL. He played a great role in Witness for the Prosecution. But as for the Toigs Tyrone, no thank you.
  12. thought I would stop watching for a while a just monitor things on here. Geez, are some on here sure they a genuine Dees supporters? Can't believe the carry on.
  13. wouldn't we just love to have a fit Stinga in our side now and Jeff White was at his best in that game
  14. The '50 year' syndrome is a fundamental issue OD. Clearly, it means that several generations of players have had to do their jobs, with that environment hanging over them. A few metaphorical coats of paint won't get rid of the stench. We needed a total rebuild years ago, not a dodgy reno done by the O'Reilly Brothers, a la Fawlty Towers.
  15. An absolute gun. We are so lucky to have him. Everything PJ does, is with an eye to the future,
  16. You've nailed it. I would just add though, while the comparison to Footscray is valid, we were a basket case both on and particularly off the field, so it was an extra long way back from there for us. I agree, as frustrating as things may still seem to be, Roos' impact on this club will leave a legacy of sustainability, which we have not seen in years. I also get the feeling that Goodwin will instil an additional layer of innovation going forward.
  17. Did Ox say that? My reading of his comments was that his blast was aimed fairly and squarely at the players. Just by way of contrast, I have a lot of respect for Jack Trengove and what he has been through, both at the hands of the club's administration and his own luck with injuries. A player drafted at 2 in 2009, with captaincy thrust upon him far too prematurely. But I watched him play in the 2's on Sunday. Admittedly, in a howling gale, he was in defence at one point in the 2nd quarter, with the scraggers kicking with the wind. He picks up the ball on the HBF and proceeded to kick it backwards toward Garland. The ball would have been lucky to travel 10 metres and the target was still missed. It has to beg the question, what has conditioned a players mind to make such decisions, given his supposed pedigree. No more excuses please
  18. WTF. That's precisely my point. The 'history' of this is far too long.............. as have been the attendant excuses. FFS we need to harden up and get in the world of the big boys for a change.
  19. Frankly, whether Ox's criticism and his rant were justified or not, for me it is a refreshing change that someone in the media, who actually supports the club, is having a red hot go. From where I stand, I am getting very tired of excuses and whether we are beaten or not, a consistency in effort and intensity is all I am looking for at least in the short term. Is that too much to ask?
  20. He's also a media performer, who, on commercial radio is compelled to justify his existence as a broadcaster and achieve respectable ratings to ensure advertising revenue. But you are correct, his comments which he makes on radio are imbued with some real Demon passion. The references in other posts on this topic, regarding an apparent lack of leadership, when things get tough, are so true. We are still paying for a legacy which believed high draft picks, at the expense of leadership and internal development would fix all our problems. Champion teams like Hawthorn never had to bottom out, developed from within and have been excellent at talent identification, to augment their core group of champs. I still think we are much further advanced since the recent dark days of the past, but we now need to take that extra step.
  21. A shame he can't "sing" but great news. Go Dees
