  1. Thanks for that snapshot Hannabal. I didn't attend that night back in '96. But I am definitely more aware of the passion of Melbournefc members/supporters there that night thanks to your post. I was Anti-merger and I look at our club at present, where I believe once again we are going places, and think how fortunate that the club managed to get through such a trying time in that period of the clubs history.
  2. AFL. So it should be. The North v Collingwood jumpers scenario is a joke. All the more resaon why Collingwood should have a clash guernsey - and they should wear it at away games. North have bent themselves over with the AFL standing over them. They should fight. The Afl should be tougher on Collingwood all the same.
  3. I tend to agree. Wouldn't it be great over the years the current Fitzroy Football Club would rise up through the competitions to a popular suburban football team? It would make a great story for future generations.
  4. Looks like it will be a good contest and should be a decent crowd....with Watts and a new recruit for Coburg called Cousins or something like that....
  5. If these four are in our best 22, who are the four that aren't?
  6. TBH I don't think it's funny. WYL - understand the frustration, but is that necessary? I suggest you edit it before....
  7. I like Point No.2 for games vs Port A, Fremantle, Brisbane. Then we can let Nth Melb and Bulldogs play at our ground. Pay up Smorgo, Brayshaw.... :D
  8. 29,317 members in total. Game day/Ticketed/non-ticketed -its all too confusing. Why doesn't Melbournefc and Hawthornfc, etc have this breakdown? Do they have ticketed/non-ticketed members? Kangaroos only have one total. Saints, Lions, Blues, Hawks, Dees, Cats, Pies all have one total. Others such as Tigers, Port, Bulldogs, have two figures ie Game Day members and total members or Ticketed members. If someone could explain the differences in clubs membership package totals.....
  9. Thanks for the write up WJ. Like Bailey's answers. I also think he's right about Newton, needs to get his mind right and practise his goalkicking routine which means taking his time, weighing everything up, including the importance of the kick!
  10. Update: 1/5/2009: - 1. Hawthorn 50,569 2. Adelaide 48,720 3. West Coast 47,728 4. Collingwood 43,563 5. Carlton 40,502 6. Essendon 39,177 7. Richmond 36,248 8. Fremantle 36,000 (approx.) 9. Geelong 34,963 10. Melbourne 30,163 11. St Kilda 29,595 12. Western Bulldogs 29,317 13. North Melbourne 28,762 14. Port Adelaide 28,075 15. Sydney Swans 27,000 (approx.) 16. Brisbane 25,183
  11. I fail to see the humour in that monty.......if in fact it was a joke. There is already alot of p****d off people with respect to what's happened to Blease.
  12. No, there is another oh jedi master.. Block the Geelong Freeway for 4 hours. Deny access to Avalon in case they think of flying once stuck in traffic. <_< :D
  13. On the money: - Dees can refuel the tank
  14. My sentiments, exactly. The history continues...as they've followed the footsteps of many before them.
  15. Just doing the sums petjud. Maric is in. Looks like he will play. Nothing against Jetta. He's played a handful of games after Round 5. Not bad for a 4th round pick in his 1st year. Maric deserves a go.
  16. The old E Gate site. Interesting. By 2017 too. I can't believe Etihad Stadium pulled out of negotiations with the AFL and the clubs for better returns to the clubs. I wonder if this is the Real McCoy or just a threat. If it's for real, Etihad will be a little nervous come 2017. Just make sure when or if they build it, they must take into consideration the sunglare and positioning of the goalposts this time.
  17. The whispers of McNamara coming in..........that fell on its head!! Jetta and Newton most likely out. If Cheney plays it could be one of Bartram, Morton or even Jones left out of the side on Sunday. Bennell IMO should play, he played ok last week.
  18. Someone's got to make a quid. If you read the article, it asks the question. The answer is afterall no, the world will not end on dec 21st, 2012 at 11:11. So we have time to build for a Premiership.
  19. Update: 30/4/2009: - 1. Hawthorn 50,569 2. Adelaide 48,720 3. West Coast 47,728 4. Collingwood 43,563 5. Carlton 40,061 6. Essendon 39,177 7. Richmond 36,248 8. Fremantle 36,000 (approx.) 9. Geelong 34,381 10. Melbourne 30,032 11. Western Bulldogs 29,317 12. St Kilda 29,292 13. North Melbourne 28,534 14. Port Adelaide 27,885 15. Sydney Swans 27,000 (approx.) 16. Brisbane 25,183 Ladder changes since last update: - Just the one change, Bulldogs had a surge and passed Nth Melbourne and StKilda, with North only adding another 150-200 since last update. Hawks, Dees and Lions had small increases. All other sides no change to their totals. We're not that far from the top 8! B)
  20. Geelong 34,963 Melbourne 30,032
  21. You're right. The media present won't forget it either. Could be used as ammunition when or if things get messy at Lexus Centre.
  22. It does for me, and it has for me since this early this morning....30,032. Updates are in the membership thread. See thread.
  23. 43,962.
  24. Check previous page(s) of this thread, I will post another update soon. Some clubs haven't updated their numbers yet (not as efficient as the mighty Dees!), thought I would wait until early next week. If time permits, before the weekend. Dees tally now at 30,032!!
  25. Agree. They can wear white too.
