Scott West? What is he up to I wonder?
-
Those stats <_< 2009 he has been playing a different position. He has not been a part of the midfield. To say that he is in decline in terms of the above stats is a misinterpretation or misrepresentation. Despite this, he still needs to pull his finger out and take marks, not spill them. He has to lead hard and demand, not half-hearted leads (too slow), he also needs to be more accountable and alert when the opposition have the ball in the Demons forward line and are trying to get it out.

Off the topic a little, although whilst on this - do you or anyone else for that matter know what the cost or the annual salary (approx.) of a full time development coach (ie at another club) - what it would cost the club? Would $70,000 - $75,000 be considered close per annum? Back on topic.... My 'True colours' team (at the moment): - BACKS: Whelan Warnock Frawley H-BACKS: Garland Rivers Buckley CENTRES: Davey Moloney Sylvia H-FWDS: Green Miller Bruce FWDS: Wonaeamirri Watts Robertson FOLL: Jamar McLean Jones INT: P.Johnson Petterd McDonald Blease Emerg: Grimes Maric Bennell Martin Missed: Wheatley Bell Bate* Jurrah** Dunn* Bartram* Bail** Meesen* Newton* Cheney**Jetta**McNamara** Zomer** Spencer** Valenti** * Must pull finger out to make my 'true colours' side (on thin ice, but capability I tend to question). ** Prefer to see more For the sake of the exercise - I'm allowed four emergencies. 'True colours team' = No injuries at all 100% fit, our strongest team to win a game IMO at the moment. Difficult exercise for positions I must admit. Of course the side can change - horses for courses.

I'm sure when the time permits, he'll stick his neck out for the beloved Dees alot more than at present.
-
I know, I won't go bumping an old thread and go over old ground. I know where you stand. It's fair to say, so do alot of others. You mentioned the sponsorship deals. But I will ask you this: - Despite the 'time delay' it took to sign the suited sponsors for the club, as you have referred to it, in the past. Are you happy with the sponsorship deals the club has in place at present?

REMINDER: - Russell Robertson Age: 30 Games: 215 Goals: 399 If he is selected, he could well chalk up Goal number 400.

So Hazy, do you think the current board have done a fine job off-field so far?
-
No. I remember Brock putting in $10K.
-
I think Warnock or Gouga summed it up pretty well last year. I don't think much has changed since then in the role Garry plays for the club. Like an advisor at times to Stynes, or a sounding board for Jimma.
-
What do you mean, tackling side of things & knocks to the body? I hope not. I understand he's young, but these attributes are pre-requisites for playing AFL. Please, please, please be a good pick 19.........I'm now having visions of Zaharakis' match winning goal against Collingwood thanks to your post.

Okayyy Plough. I know where you are coming from, but J.Watts might pick up a few handy hints. Good call. Any additional information Robbo can pass on, it will be of benefit. Including singing techniques. <_< You can never stop learning.

Thanks for that Hazy..like you said interesting quote this one from that link you posted: - President David Howlett said fining players and officials only made umpires look precious. "This whole fining people for talking about umpires is total rubbish," he said. "It doesn't achieve anything. They are better off letting them have their criticism. The umpires are prevented by their AFL contracts from speaking to the media, and that is wrong, too. I guess that's why Bailey was very cautious earlier today regarding Rivers case.
-
Yes, at 19yo he's got much strength and conditioning to go. PS. I thought Kreuzer was the best out of 2007 draft.
-
Wasn't it just last year he started helping out at WB?

Rivers guilty of Ump Bump From Ben Broad's article (mfc website), Jeff Gleeson said (AFL's umpire legal counsel): "Rivers was aware of the rules and knew his obligation to show a duty of care to the umpire." Well I ask, what if he had eyes only for the ball or man, and 'miniscule' contact was unavoidable? Jeff Gleeson said it himself, that the umpire deviated slightly from backing in a straight line. He goes on, “To say that he [the umpire] might come back in a perfectly straight line is requiring too much of the umpires,” Gleeson said. Too much of the umpires?! So if they stuff up a bounce at the centre circle, it's not asking them too much to recall the ball and to throw it up? FFS so they are the 'Untouchables' now are they? Even if they're at fault in causing contact in this case no matter how accidental. God help the players. God help the AFL. To find Rivers guilty in these circumstances (& impose a fine of $2.6K), is nothing short of a disgrace.

Lyon does his job. All part of the territory. He was far from soft. You have NFI.
-
I don't doubt him and the influence he might have within the forward line. But at his age why must he need to stamp his influence straight away having only played a handful of games in an ever changing side?
-
Unfortunately some people forget what influence he does have for the benefit of our club in terms of exposure for the club on the footy show. I could not care less if he wasn't present at the G on sunday night. He was probably putting pen to paper for his weekly article for the good of the game and earning a crust. I am sure he and Jim have an understanding of when Jim needs his help he will pitch in. Turning up to every game would not be a part of that understanding.

What is wrong with Demetriou? We as a club must turn things around before we obtain a decent fixture. That means wins, it means bigger crowd attendances, it means profits, it means better facilities and better management of the football department. Ultimately a better chance of success.
-
What on earth? Appeal?
-
We lack quality forwards we lack pacey midfielders of high quality. We are behind the eightball in so many ways not just on the field. After hearing Brock speak on Sunday about the full time weights coach for the first time the club has within the footy department since Brocks first year, it really hit home how good opposition clubs have it and how Melbournefc have had to do things half baked, due to a lack of resources.

Good to see benny showing his true colours. I think the Dockers showed their 'true colours' against Sydney. But will we see the same intent from them at the ball and the game in general over the next few weeks?
-
Thankyou for making my day! LOL

Geelong. $13.00+. Good odds. You and the Kiss of Death. Good Luck.

We are 1-4. We have Geelong (H), West Coast (A), Bulldogs (H), Hawthorn (A), St.Kilda (A), Collingwood (H) before the split round. My educated guess is that we will be perhaps 1-10 at the split round. 2-9 at best. The football department has yet to unleash Watts, Blease, Strauss, Bail and Jurrah. Robbo, Grimes, Whelan, Bell are still playing with Casey 1sts/2nds. Prior to the Richmond game, Bailey & Stynes came out in the media stating it was a 'terrific opportunity' and important game for our members to win the game against Richmond. To come out and be first to the ball, etc....competitive, competitive and ....'competitive!' Stynes even sat within the cheer squad behind the goals. Melbourne showed determination and glimpses of what I believe are our teams 'true colours' and won by 8 points after being in control of much of the game after their best quarter of football in the second term so far this year, kicking 8 goals. When will be our next win? Will we get an indication from Bailey & Stynes again prior to the match, not dissimilar to what was said prior to the Richmond game? When will we see Stynes behind the goals again? They've come out and said the likes of Watts and Blease will probably debut in the 2nd half of the season. They've said for everyone to be patient, they know where the list is at and what they have to do to rebuild it. Get my drift? Is everyone happy? One things for sure, when we see the inclusion of Watts & Co. and our leaders say that the upcoming game is an important opportunity and important that our list experience a win to boost morale etc, etc.......I might just visit the TAB. Because I might just see our next win. Whilst all is quiet, it's business as usual, as they work to rebuild the list, by tweaking the starting 22 to suit. edit: 17:14pm 28-04-2009.
