  1. definitely
  2. I think you'll find that the AFL (unfortunately) mandates white shorts for away teams. Just another overkill I was researching NRL away strips over the weekend via google and found a few things a. They don't insist on so much white on the jumper as the AFL do b. No rule on white away shorts. Most clubs seem to use their predominant home colour (eg storm purple) This makes a HUGE difference to the overall look without detracting on clash issue (IMHO) c. Many NRL fans are upset over clash strips - many forums discussions As a first step, I wonder if the AFL might bend a little over white shorts??? (dreaming??)
  3. NO, not "different colours", just white according to the AFL And, only perceived (not actual in most cases) "clashes" in the eyes of the AFL And, according to some, not the "sole" purpose Again, you oversimplify it E25
  4. I understand they have to nominate the draft year before the draft in that year Not sure exactly by what date though
  5. yeah i know, greatest until the next (soon huh?) I hadn't taken much notice of the demon before as a logo - prob best i've seen its never easy to create a demon thats appealing but not too frightening or sinister
  6. Hey Diablo, just love the demon on your weg inspired avatar Much better than current one
  7. Gotta go for Green Apart from all the obvious reasons, the fact he got the players award on B&F night has got to count very heavy
  8. GC17 can signup upto 16 out-of-contract players (one/club) totally free to them (ie no trades required) up until this years Draft The AFL will provide compensation by way of special draft picks (using an AFL proprietary formula) which can be used (or traded) this year or over the next few years.
  9. maybe a little one? discreet of course
  10. I definitely don't miss those striped dressing gowns they wore on the bench - UGH
  11. Hmmmm, you need more working on than I thought (just kidding you)
  12. not enough white for vlad - lol
  13. Well put Dapper. A considered, objective, balanced and frank appraisal of the situation
  14. Do I detect a little hesitation there Old Dee? We'll swing you around yet (despite your venerable years)
  15. No disrespect WYL but I have a problem believing the AFL could be that cynical or conniving. I like to bash Dimwit and the AFL as much as anyone but if there is truth in that I'd be really disillusioned. Call me naive
  16. Welcome back WYL - good points I just dont get this "it is enforced by the TV networks" argument - why? FCS, look at the changes in TV broadcasting Color TVs High Definition Digital (still improving) 50" + monster screens PVRs with one button live replay/pause/zoom etc One touch recording 3D TV sports broadcasting coming Internet TV with all the tricks this provides Improved Digital Cameras Cable TV with pick your camera view options etc, etc Plus all this will only get better I would say that TV (now) provides for better viewing (ie less clash) than being at the ground
  17. Old Dee, if it is won it won't be me. There are many 1000's of fans not just from MFC but many clubs who keep demonstrating their dislike and bewilderment. Regimes come and go, opinions can change. The fact that all teams away strips will look substantially the same (especially from a distance or someone with poor eyesight on tv) eventually (as you point out) will be the ultimate socialisation and homogenisation of the game and people won't like it. Anyway, enough of my babbling (wheres WYL when you need him) Edit: Oops, spoke too soon
  18. "until you are as old as me" - how do you know i'm not already? "a battle you have a small chance of winning" - all the more challenging! "You are wasting valuable energy" - thanks for considering my energy valuable, but I have enough spare We can agree to disagree, eh BTW you probably think its an obsession with me. It's not. I just don't have to agree or "accept" something I don't like nor agree with the reasons for. All the best, DC
  19. More strange behaviour by Brendan Fevola
  20. Or better still, why not use it as our regular CLASH JUMPER After all, it only clashes with umpires, and that is easily fixed This could be THE solution
  21. With all due respect old dee, I think most of us more vocal critics do understand all the above We know its not something that will change in the short-term We don't believe that it must necessarily be like that for all time It will be a long battle, but we're up to it The red and the blue forever
  22. I responded to your "By the sounds of things" comment (yeah, I see that can have different meanings) Didn't mean to gripe, sorry about that, just meant to clarify that he didn't verbally make any references Guess we'll all have to wait and see on final 2011 clash design FWIW, my money would be on the "MFC" lettering with maybe also a small new-demon logo somewhere . . . but who knows (I'm still against white, but if we have to have it lets make it the best possible design)
  23. ah, but now you are shifting the goalposts - fail of course its not going to happen, thats why I said I'd take it in a heartbeat
  24. not a relative by any chance?
  25. I agree with you I don't WANT to see him go But, I can see why he MIGHT become a trading possibility (hence the speculation)
