  1. I agree. But a flag would make it worthwhile.
  2. He WAS the equal of Carey until he did his knee. The G was like a morgue in the 2nd half against the swans.
  3. easy. staker. fev. buchanan. still holding bradshaw, brown, black. biggest injection of talent since norf in 74.
  4. Brisbane is the outstanding winner from the trading period. They have stocked up with experience and talent at both ends. Nothing is certain and injuries can derail the most promising season but I expect the Lions to go top 4. The Dogs must be dark they committed to Hall before Fev came up. Don't think I'll make the trip up next season.
  5. That's implied by him wanting to go to the woods - but now his options are narrowing.
  6. Commendably creative RR (you got a day off?) but unlikely. The key is that Lyon does not rate Ball, so talk about a quality player swap only is posturing. They'll cop a second round pick because that's about where Lyon thinks he is.
  7. Leaves Miller placed to be our out of contract offering to GC next year should that need arise. If he has a blinder of a season, we might regret it. More likely, we will like it.
  8. Weird but it happened when Barassi went to Carlton in '65
  9. Gee, ain't it awful to see another club looking like it might tear itself to bits.
  10. If we let Jamar go, who exactly will do our rucking? Or we get burned like we did last year with a couple of rookies handing out BOG Brownlow votes to the likes of Hamish McIntosh and Josh Fraser. This is a year in which we have to start to show something and we won't do that if we concede the ruck contests from round one as in 2009.
  11. Sounds like P Johnson - if we persist, which we should.
  12. That is so over the top. DYAF Robbo and dry up.
  13. Hopefully race not an issue...but taxi drivers don't always seem to understand that it's their primary role to ferry our drunks home so they don't try to drive themselves. Neita?
  14. Greg Denham seems to have laid this to rest in this morning's Oz with Davey getting a three year deal and only the formal announcement to follow. Logic and sentiment said it should go this way and once it's done we all might start to look at our club as somewhat more professional and accomplished than we have been used to.
  15. You're missing the context. He had it coming.
  16. Brock this year was breathtakingly slow. Despite that, I was prepared to cut him some slack on the grounds he was carrying some injury. If not, he is not much of a loss, sorry to say, because as well as slow he was not particularly effective by foot. The consensus from those I have talked to - not all Demon supporters - is that we have done very well out of this deal. So let's roll with it. I'd be much more concerned if Davey or Silvia or Jamar were to go. Jamar is not in the same class as the first two but he is vastly under-rated on this site.
  17. I agree, you can't condemn a player for one incident but that episode is typical of what I have seen of Zac. He was shaky against the Pies in the same way and at this risk of repeating myself there was that shocking handball incident at the Punt Road end. Chook minus head equals Zac from what I have seen and that might be harsh because defenders are always under the pump but I prefer a steadier head. Rivers? I'm a fan and that over running incident was out of character. But Zac in a panic seems in character.
  18. Take another look at that panic-struck play three and a half minutes from the finish, Fan, and you'll see if Gia had kicked marginally straighter Zac D would have cost his side the game. One run down, one contested mark and one spoil a defender do not make.
  19. The start of the Colliwobbles.
  20. I agree by a stroke of amazing luck we ended up with a great dual sponsorship package. And I completely see why the Dogs over 2009-11 would be more attractive to Mission. But it's the talking down of our club, the utter bagging of us that went on during a period of commercial sabotage that I can't forgive and I want us to succeed before they do to prove them wrong.
  21. Interesting point because as a game it had few individual highlights. There was Gia's goal, and Johnson's mark and goal, but otherwise there was mainly Reiwoldt and some terrific stuff from Hayes and Dal Santo yet overall little breath taking brilliance. This game was defined by intensity and pressure, and I had the same feeling having seen the SAINTS and the PIES two weeks ago - we are so far behind this group in terms of pressure football it ain't funny. But in talent pool, hmmmm...could be interesting in a 2011-12
  22. Those who watched on the box may have missed it, but when the Dogs goaled last night the scoreboard flashed up a Spanish mission bell that seemed to stay up there for 20 seconds, maybe longer. It just made their defeat so much more satisfying in the end but it crapped me off at the time. While I do feel for their long suffering supporters I can't wish that club well as long as Mission is their sponsor. Go Saints! Go El Paso!
  23. Dawson is an absolute liability. Supposedly a better user of the ball than Hudgton (spelling?) but he rarely kicks it, and often handballs into trouble. He is the first player in a possession string to kick backwards and this too many times plays into the opposition hands. He absolutely shat himself last night in the final quarter when he tapped the ball back into the Dog's attacking zone, and earlier at the Richmond end when he handballed into a teammate's back who was standing about one metre away. He did run down Johnson but otherwise did not contribute. His selection is a mystery.
  24. Robbo has been terrific. He gave us a lot, but the best comment on this matter came from Stan Alves weeks ago who said Robbo was not the sort of player to be a mentor to our young forwards. He said it outright - that Robbo was playing a selfish game. I think it 's fantastic that a bloke who was twice rookied got himself up to play 226 games and became the third all time goalkicker for the club. His style, however, is not right for us right now and probably won't ever be again.
