  1. Smart kid. That Geelong history before he was born.
  2. you're a fine fellow WB.
  3. Unfair. His brother was the same until he had more games under his belt. Oscar is improving. Either a fit Lever or a fit Hibberd alongside O and we win. (Ditto a fit Viney elsewhere.)
  4. I watched Scott's free conference. No mention of Melbourne and none of the journos (who sounded like they came from the Geelong Addy) had the wit to ask if Dangerfield's ruck ploy was a tactic worked out before the game for a forward pocket contest, or something he came up with spontaneously. It would be interesting to know if Scott, who goes off like a two bob watch at umpire's decisions he does not like, is a rule bender like his cheats J Selwood and now Dangerfield. What I do know is J Selwood cheats and Dangerfield cheats and both congratulate themselves when their con succeeds. I'd love to think we get another chance at them in the finals at a real football ground but I fear that moment has passed.
  5. Always nervous about the Dogs as they have a good record against us in recent times. With losses this week to spur them they are a threat even without Bont. We should win comfortably but that's why I am nervous. As to another debutant? No thanks. I can't remember who was calling for Petty's selection but that was clearly misguided and left us with a far too inexperienced defence. Happy to see Lewis rested for Vince if that comes about and Hannan for Stretch but that's about it.
  6. The Lions were incredibly disappointing. Set themselves up to break through the Don's defences so many times and messed it up with lousy skills. Both sides stank. Both are better than they showed but that was a horrible game to watch and suggests it's a long way back for the pair of them. Hoping the Saints hang on to Richo into next year. Don't like him and don't rate him. Relied for far too long on a few old blokes who repeatedly finished us off. I'd like to enjoy knocking them off consistently to square up, so hang on Richo!
  7. Peter Jackson pointed out that as the Tigers have Anzac Eve as their home game next year, if we lost QB in 2019 we'd have no blockbuster. That might hint that we'd be willing to begin alternating home games for QB from 2020 so that we have at last one blockbuster each year. On the matter of clubs that lost players to the services which Dockett raised, I think it was the book Fallen Heroes that recorded that Melbourne and St Kilda were the two clubs that lost the greatest number.
  8. Carey is absolutely right. But for the first quarter and the first few minute of the last quarter Adelaide were lamentable. We also need to remember that no team can hold its best form for an entire season (although Essendon in 2000 had the almost perfect season), so we will drop off at stages. To consolidate we really need to knock over the Bulldogs this week. Lid back on.
  9. Ha ha - some truth in that.
  10. So comical this. At one point when the ball ran over the boundary line a Crow elbowed Lever as he was returning to his position. Lever just smiled to himself and kept going. It was almost as though he enjoyed the recognition.
  11. None of us like the idea of selling games but the way the club embraced the Heart of the Country concept yesterday made me proud. Translating the song, wearing the indigenous guernsey a week early, the exchange of tributes before the game were symbolically powerful. True, the locals seemed to favour the Crows though not entirely. And the sponsor would have been rapt with Daisy's 20 minute travelogue with BT on Seven. Then there are the health initiatives the club has started like the program against glaucoma which began a few years back (when Jim was still with us, I think). The result aside I think we might have to continue with this game, make it a real statement.
  12. Huh? Ohhh idolised. Now I get it, as in revered.
  13. Agree. It was an overly exuberant attempt to spoil.
  14. Given the difference in recovery time we might need to switch a couple, and Tom Mac might need to be managed, but on form you'd have to stay with the group.
  15. Really? Oh yes you can. As football followers you must follow the long game. It's always best to take a moment to breathe, think and compose yourself instead of lashing out. The wrist slashing on this website after a loss is often pathetic. I wear disappointment as heavily as anyone but nothing is gained by some of the headless chook behaviour seen here.
  16. I like your sense of history.
  17. Sean White was the hero that day. It poured rain through the first half and we could barely score a goal - had two by half time. But Sean was sent forward at the start of the third quarter and started hauling in marks, kicked two goals himself and spearheaded a nine goal second half. Great memories indeed.
  18. Bull did a huge amount of work in packs and bringing the ball to ground. He will stay in. Those suggesting Pedo for Bull are mistaken - teams that win so well don't change unless it's absolutely necessary to cover injuries. Besides, Roos was interesting on Pedo during the OTC discussion last night. Said he could not maintain form at the highest level (although not in those precise words). Pedo will still get his chance this year unless we have the Tigers' golden run with injury, and based on what Roos had to say, Pedo will be OK for short spells but not a sustained run in the seniors.
  19. Classic AFL inconsistency. AFL is a bogus organisation.
  20. No, that's not likely. Neeld is talking about moving into sports administration. He can read the writing on the wall. I think part of his failure at Melbourne was the really fundamental failure to understand that not everyone can be taught or inspired in the same way. Different players (people) respond to different forms of support, challenge or encouragement. Neeld misread Watts completely for example. It was too much my way or the highway, too much hard man and Roosy saw through that. I feel for the bloke because I think coaching us took years off his life. I still remember him tearing up in the rooms after our surprise win over Essendon. No one can say he meant us harm, even though that was result of it.

  22. Just quit as one of Worst folds' assistants. He did us enormous damage but I still feel for the bloke.
  23. Rapt with the way we finished off and with the way the team is developing but keep a lid on it. With the exception of the Roos all our wins have been in the shallow end.
  24. That should mean there's still plenty of value for those who sign up midway through the season (a form of behaviour I cannot understand at all).
