Ratten did a great job with our mids. Wish we still had him.

Rubbish to claim they weren't trying. Key problem was conversion. We created opportunities - 55 i50s to 47 - had the same number of scoring shots but in the first half of the 2nd term when we should have built scoreboard pressure we added 1 goal 2 points. Misses like Petracca's and Melksham's - both out on the full from 40 metres almost directly in front kill you. We had no-one at the fall of the ball - needed Garlett, or maybe Lockhart for ground level pace - and bombed long while they had two and three extras behind the contest: we played dumb. Finally, skill errors going inside 50, by foot and hand, absolute fundamentals, were butchered. Spargo, TMac take a bow.

Keep it grammatical please.

plenty umpire assistance too...dream on

Looks like he's been having cake with that coffee.

Cannot be as bad as the Brad Johnson-Dermie gigglefest on Fox. I'll check the presser on the club website.

Correction: there are no acres of space at Geelong. It is a ground shaped like no other: there are no wings at all. It's a disgrace and should have been reshaped when they stands were rebuilt. There are always numerous OOBOTF at that poxy ground.

Funny. My Geelong supporting mate told me the weather would improve once you start the run downhill (whatever that meant). Sounds like it didn't suit our structure. Not that we have a lot of options.
-
No it wasn't good enough but it was close several times. You make it sound like it's been 55 years of 1981 or 2013-14 revisited. Northey's teams were honest and gritty. Danihers' usually were. They were a million miles away from the past two weeks.

So was it raining the whole time you were there? I am trying to make sense of our shapeless forward line. TMac and Weid hardly sighted airborne.
-
Really, it's time you stopped playing this record. Between 1987 and 2006 we were regular finalists, played two GFs and usually won at least one final, so give it a break.

umpiring worth minimum 3 goals to the hicks. frees at 3/4 time 20:12. watch for the square up final term.

Sorry for him. Just as I was sorry to see him leave the Dees. Had a real weapon with that penetrating kicking. Best of luck, Dunny.

I see Keith Richards' first solo album has been re-released...Talk Is Cheap.

Utter fraud.

That in the back with 2 mins to go not paid in our defensive square was unbelievable. Several soft frees to North...what's that about? Having said that, a kick in with 2 mins to go when you are four points down goes only one place - UP THE GUTS! Instead the gals went wide and misdirected and coughed up a free the other way. When we regained they ball they refused to do anything but go wide. Killed their own chance. It should be a tough review.

Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood
pitmaster replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The truth is because of the pressure applied by opponents, the shape of the ball etc, it is a game of mistakes. Otherwise we'd score 40 goals a game - each side. -

Anyone else think Mason Cox is an A-grade [censored]? How good was A VdB today? Bloody good. With him and Preuss there's going to be some serious road kill at the G this year. JKH looked better than ever and Hore and Sparrow showed something. Going to be an interesting time. -
87 elimination final was pretty cool; as was the following semi final; equally the 88 elimination and semi and the prelim sensational the '90 elimination that killed hawthorn's triple premiership hopes was a classic, tight, Northey arm wrestle with the right ending us versus bombers with Ox in full flight was a ripper from 94 but yeah, we won by 12 goals so maybe that doesn't cut it. how about jeffie with nine second half goals v the pies? i forget the year but an absolute ripper. I could go on but instead I might apply for program director at Fox (except it would mean working for Rupert, an enemy of the people and of people's government).

Carn the Dess???

You've missed his humour, DV8.

Finally, someone with a sense of reality...Flower injured, Wilson injured, both unavailable...we weren't going anywhere, but it was magnificent while it lasted.

Dal Santo's comments are on the mark, but having listened to Maximus G at the BnF I doubt complacency is an issue.

You speak to my dark heart.

A full year missed seems a lot if there is no other tissue damage, as reported. Anyone remember how quickly Garry Lyon came back after his break in round 22, 1987? Just answered my own question: Lyon played round one 1988 after a leg break on the cusp of the finals so surely Mitchell could be back in the second half of the season. To answer an earlier question Nathan Brown's break was massive and compound. Very complex break (I think) close to the knee joint and he never was the same again. PS: very sorry for Mitchell, but if any coach can overcome a loss like this A Clarkson is the man.
