  1. He's very young Has had some serious injuries since arriving at the club Has only played a handful of games He was a very highly regarded junior Was a high pick in a strong draft. I wouldn't call him a specialist at anything yet, however, He's just about to complete his first full, uninterrupted preseason since coming to the club and should be given at least the next 2 years to prove his worth to the club. I would be surprised if he isn't in our best 22 in a couple of years. I am one who rates him very highly and expect him to have a much improved season.
  2. I've just bought my first Mac, can someone tell me how to access bigpond video? cheers
  3. So had the AFL tested him and he was found to have had cocaine the test would be swept under the carpet(first offence) but because he was caught with the drug on him he should be sacked. You sir, live on too high a moral ground for mine.
  4. Can someone tell me what happens if a player tests positive to cocaine use during an AFL sanctioned test.(First offence)
  5. I think the poster who said Jetta finished off the season more strongly than Bennell has it spot on. I'm confident both will become starting 22 in the years ahead. As for comparing Jetta to the likes of Williams. Can't really see the point. They are very different players and Neville has only played a few AFL games. Don't be surprised that as his fitness improves so does his pace. he's hardly slow when we compare him to brock and most think he'll be handy at carlton.
  6. Bennell and Jetta are two players whom we don't talk enough about. I seriously rate both of them and would expect them to become important players for the club going forward. Jamie Bennell already has the best part of a season under his belt and rarely looked out of place. His game against West Coast over there was as good a game you could expect from an undersized first year player. Neville Jetta, although not as impressive still showed he had what it takes to play AFL. Hopefully the puppy fat has left him during this preseason and he can take his game to another level. His marking ability and appetite for the contest will make him very handy forward of the middle. With Bennell and Strauss working of half back and with the talent recruited through the middle a golden age beckons. Other players who I expect big things from are Ricky Petterd, Nathan Jones and Brad Green
  7. It's not surprising that Watts is expected to spend 3 months in the VFL. He's basically a first year player who's tall and skinny. Plenty more to be done before he starts tearing games apart. 2012 onwards will see his best.
  8. Great position for Green as he gets older. He'll play the position well. Strong lead and mark and a beautiful kick. As for Miller. As the team improves so to will Miller. He's never short of commitment and attacks the ball well. Personally I think he'll be a valuable asset to the team this year.
  9. At least 8 of those marks were taken in the centre square or wings.
  10. B & F Winner: Colin Sylvia Most Brownlow Votes: Colin Sylvia Most Rising Star Votes: Jack Trengove Most Improved: Neville Jetta Our 5 most important players at the end of the season will be: Sylvia, Grimes, Frawley, Jurrah and Morton. 2010 Premier: Geelong Wooden Spoon: Tigers Brownlow: Ablett Coleman: Brown 9 wins / 10 Spot
  11. Realistically only 3 of the 2009 bunch will be in line for a considerable pay rise. Trengove, Scully and possibly Gysberts. With Trengove signed up that leaves 2 and if either don't do much then it's down to one. Your theory doesn't hold. It could however have more to do with players contracts from previous years expiring in 2 years time. So you're sort of right if you know what I mean! I am not intending to be a pain in the arse here although I may of inadvertantly achieved that.
  12. It's quite possible the club saw the go home factor strongest with Trengove and see him as hugely important to our future. What to do? Well sign him up for an extra year and do the same for his mate. The risk is low that he'll be anything other than a fine footballer. As for Tapscott, more risky but if it helps keep Trengove here then so be it. Not the ideal situation but my guess is the club hopes that once we're playing finals, well entrenched in our new home(s), not to mention playing in front of good crowds at the MCG, Trengove will be a Demon for life. Symbolism is still important.
  13. Is Miller's role going to be to take the kick that comes out of defence and then give it off to any number of players running past. That was his role in the 06 final against Freo and I think he had 16 marks that night. Playing him solely in the forward line has proven ineffective. Once he has time to think he generally turns it over, as for set shots, just not his strength. Play him up the field where he can offer some protection to our young players and where he is able to simply lead, mark, handball. I think this might be his instinctive game.
  14. Petterd is a talented young player recovering from a potentially fatal lung abnormality that, without the quick thinking of a doctor, would of killed him. To suggest that he shouldh've shown more than he has is akin to suggesting Watts should win the brownlow this year. It's the non sensical ramblings of a bored group of unthinking posters. Petterd is completing his first fully fit preseason, has bulked up considerably and from all reports is doing well on the track. If he's not in our best 22 then I'd like to know who's ahead of him. Now off you go and ram a hole in your lung and see how long it is before you're fully fit.
