Dangerfield in with the knees, if someone heads over slap him as well
-
GRIFFENNNN! Who?
-
This is truly laughable. Now our injuries are funny
-
I believe they have the wind this quarter
-
I think this match just became Critical

Whilst I totally agree with you let's look at it from Geelong's point of view. They have invested a lot of time, money and effort into Ablett. He also helps bring crowds, sponsors and the resulting money to the club. Then the AFL give GC and WS over the odds salary caps so they can poach such players in the hope of getting these clubs into the finals as soon as possible. The situation is the AFL's doing so it's unlikely they are going to turn around and turn off the tap, The club's would be crying fowl for years. The situation is messy and it could well get messier still.

Fair point.

I'd say achieving nothing is a little harsh. Oh by the way, he'll never coach this club. Never, ever. It's not going to happen. he may however become President.
-
I haven't bought my membership yet. I rarely buy them before round 1. When I do I buy one for me, one for each of my kids and one for my lady. Oh, and a couple of Heartland memberships if they are still on offer. Then I put them in a draw and head off to the MCC members.
-
he may play a bit this year but if he's in our best 22 in a couple of years time it's because we haven't developed the likes of Strauss and Bennell I don't rate him
-
Wack away. What matters is the development of the young players over the next 2 years. Results will be mixed. Stop worrying about these things outside your control. Buy yourself a second, even third membership, sign up your family and look forward to better footy in the years ahead. We'll easily reach 31,000 members, the season hasn't even started yet.

The fact still remains that if Dunn had shown us he was good enough we wouldn't be having this discussion. I still hold a glimmer of hope for him but let's face it what we've seen so far hardly leaves you salivating for more. The FD know exactly where he is at. I've no doubt he'll be given enough of an opportunity this year. In the end it's up to Dunn.

A friend of mine asked me today what I thought of Lyon and the coaching role. I said to him he'd make a great President and I wouldn't be surprised if certain people didn't have this in mind already. Jimmy can't do it forever and we need the profile of someone like Lyon to keep this club in the news and in kids minds.

Spot on. That's why we must take this team into the finals. I hate to say it but I reckon the AFL have us and North in their sights. The Doggies will make too much noise and Smorgon's a great operator. Richmond's latest plan is totally laughable. The club won't go near the finals over the next 5 years, nor reach 45,000 full members. The only thing keeping them alive is a massive sleeping supporter base. This base is crumbling year on year but has a lot of strength still.

Adelaide v Melbourne @ Elizabeth Saturday 4:30pm
Roost It replied to The Emblem's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd doubt very much that Watts will play Round !. I like seeing McNamara and Strauss playing. If McNamara makes it It allows us the freedom to play Garland forward. And Strauss was pick 18 in the Superdraft so I'm expecting quite a bit from him. He needs to stay fit and on the field. Any team adding Bate, Bruce, Davey, Moloney and Sylvia for round 1 is going to be better off. -
Unfortunately they have more of everything when compared to us. Oh except potential.
-
Bate, Bruce, Davey all need to play round 1
-
Yeh, but he backed into it softly!

Basically your fear appears to stems from a NAB cup game. As Stakka kindly points out we're young and very inexperienced. We're going to have bad days and more of them before we really improve. My point to you is It's going to take time and recruiting flawed footballers like Temel isn't going to fix the problem. In a couple of years time our forward line will include a selection of Watts, Bate, Jurrah, Petterd, Wonamaeamirri, Maric, Tapscott, Sylvia, Morton, Davey, Green with a fairly star studded midfield and a great defence. Take a look at Geelong's side. Great defence, awesome midfield, middle of the road forward line. All I'm asking is that you grow some ticker, ride out the rough times because a good side is being put together. If Bailey can't get something out of them over the next 2 years we'll have a queue of coaches wanting to be involved. Our problems aren't with our side and they are certainly not with an NAB cup loss. Our problems lie with the AFL legalising cheating and allowing free trade. This is what you need to worry about. If you atre so worried about the membership table buy another one, that's what most of us do.

What deal does Scully have?
-
But free agency doesn't start until 2012 so why the panic?
-
That's the whole point of the thread. It's not an excuse it's fact. Also because our young players are already playing together we'd expect our window to open earlier. Bailey has consistently said that it's games played. As long as the light at the end of the tunnel is shining bright at the end of 2012 we should be alright - this time. The future however is looking cloudy not only for several clubs but the competition as a whole.

I thought this well researched post should be read by the doubters on this site

In the end the taxman will need to know so policing it would be easy. We just need the AFL to employ a Sheriff. Oh and actually give a [censored] about the integrity of the competition. The more i think about this the more I think it needs a supporter backlash via petitions etc. to make the AFL act. We need a good lawyer to draft it up then it's people power time. I would suggest that most club Presidents already know it's wrong, well except for Carlton but seriously, they are fast becoming the joke of the competition.
