  1. ....and the original is rather racist.
  2. Yes...one has to think common sense, but no this is the AFL. And since every goal is reviewed before the next bounce, why do a review on the spot and waste time?
  3. Spot on. And if goal umpires have to call for a review if the ball goes near the posts or over the line, then why have goal umpires at all?
  4. The Age also did graphics ( which I can't reproduce here) which just shows how far down the gurgler we are compared to other clubs and the years of inaction by the current Board. 5. Spot on......This is how you rebuild, not chasing a single player.
  6. Just get a plastic ticket.. 1. Don’t have to deal with Ticketek. Either this round or all of the remaining games. They WILL stuff up again. 2. Readers, apps, and phones are all dependent upon the electronics working. We all know they WILL fail at some point. 3. Stop giving information to the AFL, Ticketek, or some bot ex China about where you are and whether you are going. 4. Much easier to burn the plastic card than your phone…and cheaper, when you get fed up with team performance.
  7. Aren’t they only available 72 hours before game.? Always problematic, just get a plastic card instead. Always works.
  8. Bentleigh club opened 1997 after Joe became president in 1996.
  9. Switching has to have an end result. It used to because you could get an entry into the 50m arc rather than a kick down the line to contest. It simply doesn't happen against good teams any more. Kicking across the ground to a contest on the opposite wing, which we saw in Sydney, is pointless. The result is the same as kicking down the line. It may move the zone on the MCG, but they don't have to run as far on the SCG. The trend for the better teams is to switch left, then back again to move the zone. And then do it again....The two or three kicks needed to get it to the opposite side, as per the traditional switch, is simply too slow for the way the winning teams play. We did it to Sydney, they did it to us. When watching the game, don't look at the ball when a team tries to switch. Look at the HBF for the opposition, and you will see if the switch is going anywhere long before the ball gets there, as the opposition will have it covered or not.
  10. Every other club in the league would want him. I’m sure Bontempelli would be sought by everyone as well, but it ain’t going to happen. Best to stop reading when you see the authors name, and his employer.
  11. But that is what Sydney and other good teams do. They flood across the ground faster than the switch. The switch was effective 5 years ago. But the HBF’s and especially wingers have already blocked the path, before ANY team can kick the ball the 2 to 3 times to move it to the other side.
  12. They can't get the decisions on the field right, the job should be with an independant group off the field .
  13. He had already tipped a couple of Million for the club, which was broke. He got us the Bentleigh club and Leigoak which having been sold by the current administration are still are the only assets the club has after 160+ years. To have tipped in further for the Olympic swimming pool site is a bit over the top as a further ask. And there wasn't an oval next to it until Eddie kicked out Athletics Vic.
  14. Finally some numbers posted.....48,037 as of today. Behind last years tally already

  16. Because there were none available come free agent trading period.
  17. The other thing needed to switch effectively is space. That doesn’t exist on the SCG. While there were kicks for both sides which were “not down the line” the switch becomes ineffective, since the opposition don’t have to run as far to fill the defensive space, unlike the MCG. The GWS comparison is very valid, since it was played on a bigger ground, and the game becomes more open.
  18. How hard is it to put the numbers up? Our ever reliable comms. team still has last years figures on the website.
  19. There is a pop us food place right next to the entrance to Richmond station on Swan street. There is a toilet ( one of the old cast iron versions from the 1800's) at the NW corner of the playing fields, right on Swan st.
  20. Good points Deever.....what we are used to doing and seeing is no longer acceptable, as we now know the damage concussions cause. I was chatting to a fellow Demon supporter who was also a boxing coach. I am no fan of that sport, but he pointed out the disparity of rules in boxing around KO/concussion, and that of the AFL. KO with loss of consciousness for less than 1 minute = 90 days no sparring or fighting More than 1 minute = 180 days 2nd loss of consciousness after return from previous = 360 days 1 KO no loss of consciousness= 30 days 2 KO no loss of consciousness = 90 days 3 KO no loss of consciousness = 360 days For such a brutal "sport" they actually take proscribe more care than the AFL with its lousy 12 day respite. We may not like it, because players won't be allowed to play, but better that than more Brayshaw, Barnes, Smith, Frawley situations....
  21. And they have to share rooms, ice baths, physio facilities, gym equipment, team meeting rooms with Storm, Victory and Rebels. And how do you think our Womens team fits into that arrangement? You only have to go to Essendon to see what a proper facility is. Even Collingwoods is not the best today but they are ligh years above what we have. But do not say our situation is fine until you have seen what other have.
  22. No @Lucifers Hero you are missed a lot!
  23. Exactly. If people expect to see much out of this match, they will be disappointed. Carlton played Geelong in similar conditions last week, and it was the most appalling display of AFL football to watch, with turnover after turnover after turnover. It was just too hot to bother. We should know, it will be like playing in Darwin, so with a game only 10 days later, don't expect too much exertion.
  24. No idea. Other clubs have done it.....
  25. Nothing up on the Club website. Just last years number. Another example of the poor communication we get with the mob running the show ….how hard is it to post a number on a website?
