  1. Although he was disappointing last week, I think Master should be given another opportunity. He has been training to play FF for the past few months, and he put in a few solid performances last year.
  2. From the MCC website: "Playing Membership Playing Membership may be offered to non-members who play in organised competition in the Sporting Sections of the club. For guidelines and further information about MCC Playing Membership, please contact your Section secretary."
  3. It was just reported on SEN. They mentioned one of the benefits is that the MFC will have full access to the MCC members database. I wonder if we'll be allowed to train on the G at any stage....this deal is supposed to mean that we are not a 'tenant' club, but rather a part of the MCC. They said that Stephen Gough was asked about how this ties in with the re-negotiation of stadium deals with the AFL. He responded that it's an entirely separate issue and the Dees will still stand to gain $900k per year if the AFL accepts their current offer. Fanatastic news!
  4. Very funny choice of song....check out the lyrics: Dropkick Murphys I'm Shipping up to Boston I'm a sailor peg And I've lost my leg Climbing up the top sails I lost my leg! I'm shipping up to Boston whoa I'm shipping up to Boston whoa I'm shipping up to Boston whoa I'm shipping off...to find my wooden leg I'm a sailor peg And I've lost my leg Climbing up the top sails I lost my leg! I'm shipping up to Boston whoa I'm shipping up to Boston whoa I'm shipping up to Boston whoa I'm shipping off...to find my wooden leg
  5. After we knock them off next week they'll be sitting in the bottom 4! Let me dream.
  6. Good post, I completely agree. Something I'd like to add is that Fev has a fantastic kicking style, which is Buddy's one weakness.
  7. The Debt Demolition is ongoing. How many people selected the option of a monthly direct debit until the debt is erased? I did. I don't think there should be another one, members threw A LOT of cash at the club last year, and there are plenty of opportunities to keep throwing cash at the club. Memberships, merchandise, raffles, player sponsorship, game attendance, attending club functions, supporting hankook & kaspersky etc. etc.
  8. Would you prefer to lose by 100 points or 15? It's not realistic to expect to win every week with our list and given how we performed last year. We want to see improvement, the reality is that we will lose more games than we win this year.
  9. Hmm, as is Garry, obviously. Who is Emma Quayle?
  10. We don't even need to win to not start at the bottom. Just not get thumped!
  11. We've had plenty of positivity and media exposure in the past few weeks, our NAB cup results weren't bad. It's round 1 and we've all been starved of AFL since September, I think we'll get at least 30,000 down there. I'll be there with a bunch on non-melbourne supporters who are just desparate to see some footy! Hopefully we'll put in a respectable effort which will then see at least 50,000 at the G in round 2 against Collingwood on Saturday afternoon.
  12. For those who missed it, Akermanis was on Channel 7 today. He said something along the lines of 'make no mistake, the demons are an improved outfit this year'...in reference to how we looked in the NAB challenge match.
  13. Experts predictions for the wooden spoon: Rohan Connolly - Melbourne Nathan Buckley - Melbourne Robert Walls - Melbourne Greg Baum - Melbourne Martin Blake - Melbourne Martin Boulton - Melbourne Michael Gleeson - Melbourne Peter Hanlon - Melbourne Jesse Hogan - Fremantle Samantha Lane - Melbourne Garry Lyon - West Coast Jake Niall - Melbourne Andrea Petrie - Melbourne Emma Quayle - Fremantle Caroline Wilson - Melbourne I really hope we can prove these bastards wrong! Rohan Connolly's assessment of our prospects is grim. Walls and Buckley are more positive.
  14. I saw him at the MFC intraclub at Casey. He was having a chat to Jack Watts for a while.
  15. Assuming we get the second sponsor, we will receive 1.5 mill a year for shirt sponsorship, which is 50% more than what we were on previously. As I said, this is despite the economy and our woeful onfield in 08. Worth the wait.
  16. IF we manage to get $1.5 mill/year in the current economic environment, AND after one of the worst onfield performances ever displayed by an AFL club AND despite the fact that we effectively ran at a loss of $3mill+ last year I think we've done very well. The fact that it's late isn't ideal, but we have locked in Hankook and I'm sure there'll be another major sponsor within a week or two.
  17. If you don't have Spencer in your Supercoach team then you are crazy.
  18. I have another tale of woe. I purchased a 2008 MFC rainjacket for the bargain price of only $20 from the Online Megastore last week. My credit card was charged 5 days ago, I also received an email receipt telling me that I would receive my jacket in 2-3 working days..... 15 minutes ago I received this email: Hi xxxxx, Unfortunately we have sold out of the item you ordered on the MELBOURNEfc online megastore. We have refunded this purchase. Kind regards, Devastating!!!
  19. I'll give it a go, i'm a first year SC player. But have already joined two leagues and drafted my players. It will be good to compete against some other Demons-bias people!
  20. I made the trek out there for the first time this morning. Really good turnout, I'd estimate at least 500. Everything was really positive, mood was good. Jimmy was there, scotty west etc. Saw Watts having a chat to some fans (that mohawk guy), seems like a good guy. The quality of the turf is incredible. I took a couple of photos, I'll upload them to Facebook on Monday.
  21. I signed up more than a month ago and haven't received anything in the mail yet. Where's my calendar!?
  22. Are there any figures for how many people have signed on for monthly donations going forward? I signed up for $30/month until the debt is cleared.
  23. He can come back if he takes a 50% paycut.
  24. I would have been devastated if we lost yesterday. The umpires interferring throughout the game was very frustrating and it felt great to be able to get over the line in the end. To be able to beat a quality side despite having no Neitz, Robertson or White was very promising.
  25. There seems to be an obsession with eradicating this debt....but all good businesses carry debt. I would have thought it's more important to achieve sustainable earnings growth rather than focussing on one-off donations to pay down debt.
